Freddie also recorded this song in 1989 when he was no longer performing live due to his illness. Brian and Roger decided to include it on the ‘Made in Heaven’ album which was released in 1995. The song (written by Brian) was about his break-up with his wife.. and his love for his (now) wife, Anita Dobson. You would enjoy hearing it sung by Freddie too - with his voice sounding somewhat frail.. the words took on a whole different meaning than it did coming from Brian (IMO). Great reaction.. as always!!

Thanks for giving this song this attention. Brian doesn't get enough credit as a vocalist because of his singular guitar playing, and because he spent so much of his career on stage next to Freddie. His performance of it as a duet with Luciano Pavarotti is also amazing. Luciano could have recorded this and it would have been wonderful for him too.

so glad to see someone react to this treasure. Usually they react to Freddies' version (which is incredible also) but Brian wrote this and Brian performs this beautifully. He is still rockin in his 70's.

The most painful moment in this video for me is the picture on the refrigerator that says Daddy. Gawd, that kills me every time. This is Brian's personal story and while Queen did also record this song, and Freddie is great with it, when Brian sings it, you can feel how it is tearing him apart and you can even see it in his face and in his eyes. Ever since his first marriage started to crumble, there has been an emptiness in his eyes that was never there before. I believe it comes from him losing the right to live with his children. Being a husband and a father was Brian's greatest joy in life, but life on the road is hard and it takes its toll as it did for Brian.

The song reflected the breakdown of May's first marriage and attraction to his future wife, Anita Dobson . (damn roses are not for destroying)
