Great question! Gums tend to swell up during treatment as a side effect of plaque accumulation (bacteria). TheMoises1213 with my dental package, the plastic retainers were included in the price so I would’ve had to pay $300 out of pocket for the metal ones. The metal retainers can last up to 10 years while the plastic ones clan last from 1-2 years. Hi this is not related to the video but since it’s your recent video I might as well comment it here. I am planning to get braces but I just want braces for my upper teeth. I do however have a deep bite but my main focus is on the upper teeth. Will it be a good choice to get only braces on upper teeth when I have a deep bite? And what will be the consequences of doing so?
I advise against wearing only 1 arch braces, ESPECIALLY if its a bite issue. We need braces on both the arches so that we can use rubber bands and wires to make sure we can correct your bite. I still would ask your orthodontist to see if this is possible in your case though!
Is it necessary to have extractions to fix an overbite? tho my overbite is not severe at all. Will it change the shape of my face? and is it true that if I'll have extractions my face will get sunk? What will be the consequences if ever I'll have extractions. I hope you'll answer my question or better yet I hope you'll make a video about this. Thank you
I’m a year late to this video but I just thought of something, would you rather wear regular braces 6 months longer than your regular time or, wear headgear the whole time but your treatment is 6 months shorter hmmmm?
You should have an orthodontist take a look at your treatment. He/she will then be able to tel you what the best treatment plan would be for your case!
is there a correct way to face your loops? i put the loops facing downwards and it hurt a lot, but when i put the loops facing up like a mountain, there was significantly less pain. When I googled it, there were mixed results.
I have a overbite, and they say they're going to move my front teeth back, and my bottom teeth forward, is there a chance i would be getting headgear for this? Please respond ;e;
Impossible for me to tell online but I would suggest you bring this up with your orthodontist as he/she is the most familiar with your case! p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; line-height: 18.0px; font: 13.0px Roboto; color: #262626; -webkit-text-stroke: #262626; background-color: #ffffff} span.s1 {font-kerning: none}
I'm currently 12 and I have headgear that uses my neck to stop the growth of my front teeth so my bottom teeth can ketchup because my wisdom teeth pushed into my 12-year-old molars on my bottom teeth which made my bottom 12-year-old molars go forwards at an angle and if my wisdom teeth continued to grow they would push into my back molar and eventually kill my back molars on my bottom teeth so I'm getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed at the age of 12 and have to wear headgear (btw my top 12-year-old molars already grew in) Yea- braces suck only had em for a few days though so yea never know maybe I'll like em later.
There are a number of factors including the occlusal plane steepness, whether you are trying to achieve more AP/Vertical control, musculoskeletal factors (dolicocephalic/brachycephalic, etc)
Doctor First of all thank you for this video. My headgear is not fitting in my mouth like the little holes. What should I need to do. I really need help. I hope you see this and reply.
Hi! Again here, I'm confused: how can a headgear be used to move a LOWER teeth forward -actually the lower JAW? Our ortho recommends, braces w/elastics and headgear(??) My daughter's upper teeth/jaw is totally fine.
Thank you for the great video. Can headgear be used in adults? Also is there a headgear to bring both upper and lower teeth backwards? I have an overbite/overjet. I think where my lower teeth meets the upper teeth, the lower teeth just pushes out the upper teetg more slanted. but I have a lot of spacing behind all my last molars. Traditional braces without headgear has pulled my molars forward instead of my front teeth backwards. Also, are these braces MRI compatible? Thank you!!
Please don't push your upper or lower teeth backwards, you will make your face more flatter and recessed, you would only want to bring something forward, in this case, your low jaw forward.
my older brother had to use one, after the summer i'll also get one! because we both had overbites, and thanks to my brother i already know how it goes

Hey, I have headgear that goes around my neck for an overbite and was wondering, does it matter if the metal arch is up or down? I have been wearing it with the top of the arch facing up. I also wear rubber bands with and without my headgear
Hey doc i wanna ask a question real quick i hope i get an answer on. Yesterday i got my lower jaw's braces on and stuff thankfully.my orthodontist placed all brackets on but he attached 2 teeth to the wire with elastics cuz he didnt want to overwhelm me with pain and pressure and because the teeth were too deep inside the jaw. However when i was eating today one of the brackets came off so i cut the elastic off just incase (hope thats not a mistake) and the other one shifted and idk what to do. I would appretiate your help asap
I would contact your orthodontists office & let them know that your bracket broke off! They will let you know whether it is important for you to come in to replace it or if it can wait until your next appointment!
I have a question I have had braces for about 1 or 2 months and have have an expander for 4 months but I have still not got my expander out. How long are you supposed to wear an expander
As a rule of thumb, most expanders stay in for 6 months at least to allow for the bone to fill in and increase its stability! Check out my video on expanders to see more info about them!
Hey doctor, I recently good braces like today and as you are cognizant if the fact of flossing. The problem is the floss doesn’t seem to be penetrating through my teeth, ensuing in the lack of flossing. What should I do, and would a water pick substitute for flossing in my case?
Will flossing break the brackets of my teeth and if the flood string gets caught on the wire/ bracket how do I relief the tension caused from the floss and bracket? Thx once again Dr
Reverse overjet is correct and so is underbite! =] There is a different type of headgear for that called a Reverse-pull headgear or a Facemask.. I'll review those soon

on the headgear there are those little silver U t
mountain things and i don't know if they go upwards like a mountain or downward like a "U "
Thank you for making a video on this, very helpful.
Of course! So glad that I was able to help out in your understanding =]
Thank you
Yes extractions will sink in your face. Look into maxillary expanders and biobloc orthodontics. Also look into mewing and correct oral posture.
Impossible for me to tell online but I would suggest you bring this up with your orthodontist as he/she is the most familiar with your case!
I’m a year late to this video but I just thought of something, would you rather wear regular braces 6 months longer than your regular time or, wear headgear the whole time but your treatment is 6 months shorter hmmmm?
Do you always need a head gear if you have an overbite
Not necessarily but sometimes it is the most advantageous . Really a case-by-case basis
Not necessarily but I need head gear,
I want to bring my lower jaw forward. should I get a headgear?
Jiun How No, they pull the teeth back, so your lower jaw will go back
You should have an orthodontist take a look at your treatment. He/she will then be able to tel you what the best treatment plan would be for your case!
Do I need a head gear cz I have severe overbite, also expansion cz jaw is narrow and teeth are overcrowded?? Also my age is 24. Plz help😞.
I used to wear headgear during my braces back in my 90's mine was on back of my neck
Will using headgear lead to infections in long run?
What is the cost Of Headgear braces treatment?
I am from india,but there no facility🙂
Is the head gear used for shifting the upper teeth center line and not bring the teeth back?
Can headgear be used only for horizontal impacted canines only?
Since headgears are for the braces… Is there something similar to headgears when using invisaline?
I lost this thing that you put on your neck where can i buy it
My mother says the other side is tight than the other side. Is that a good sign?
is there a correct way to face your loops? i put the loops facing downwards and it hurt a lot, but when i put the loops facing up like a mountain, there was significantly less pain. When I googled it, there were mixed results.
What treatment would you use when the left side of your teeth on the top do not come down as far as the teeth on the right?.
I have a overbite, and they say they're going to move my front teeth back, and my bottom teeth forward, is there a chance i would be getting headgear for this?
Please respond ;e;

I believe in Karma👏🙌
I want to know something,,,Is braces remove the gap between teeth?
Do you use a TPA with a cervical head gear? And also do you place them at the same time you place the braces?
Im overbite/overjet and currently wearing braces. How come my ortho dentist did not recommend this?
Will you post information about reverse pull headgear? And are adults candidates for this? Thank you
I'm currently 12 and I have headgear that uses my neck to stop the growth of my front teeth so my bottom teeth can ketchup because my wisdom teeth pushed into my 12-year-old molars on my bottom teeth which made my bottom 12-year-old molars go forwards at an angle and if my wisdom teeth continued to grow they would push into my back molar and eventually kill my back molars on my bottom teeth so I'm getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed at the age of 12 and have to wear headgear (btw my top 12-year-old molars already grew in) Yea- braces suck only had em for a few days though so yea never know maybe I'll like em later.
omg please tell me how it went i have a neck strapped headgear too i barely got it and a lot of people say its bad how did it go for you?
How will we know whether this patient require cervical pull headgear or occipital pull // or can u explain the criteria in selecting these headgears .
There are a number of factors including the occlusal plane steepness, whether you are trying to achieve more AP/Vertical control, musculoskeletal factors (dolicocephalic/brachycephalic, etc)
Oh thanku and was so informative
You look 👀 crazy 😜 with that headgear
Appreciate the support brotha... now I can look as crazy as you
Doctor First of all thank you for this video. My headgear is not fitting in my mouth like the little holes. What should I need to do. I really need help. I hope you see this and reply.
Does the head gear affect the brain or skull shape?? I don't know i read a comment saying this and i'm scared
Hi! Again here, I'm confused: how can a headgear be used to move a LOWER teeth forward -actually the lower JAW? Our ortho recommends, braces w/elastics and headgear(??) My daughter's upper teeth/jaw is totally fine.
can an adult have This procedure?
This video really helped me, thanks :)
Of course! I'm glad you enjoyed it! =] Thanks for watching
will I need headgear if I have a forsus ?
my older brother had to use one, after the summer i'll also get one! because we both had overbites, and thanks to my brother i already know how it goes
Dont u get it, its i had it and it made my face unatractive
how did it go, i have a neck strapped headgear i would like to know
So I get braces in 20 days because I have a really bad underbite/cross bite. I don’t think I’ll need head gear but I might. Also any tips about braces I should know about??
Would braces also bring your teeth back
Hi doctor can you please help me by clearing my doubt!?
I am 17 year old and i am wearing this reverse pull head gear and whenever I wear i feel a pain on the left side and this started after 2 months what is the reason?
Hey it's been 7months now tell me the progress
Hey, I have headgear that goes around my neck for an overbite and was wondering, does it matter if the metal arch is up or down? I have been wearing it with the top of the arch facing up. I also wear rubber bands with and without my headgear
Depends on how your orthodontist adjusted it!
What are your thoughts on the new Invisalign with Mandibular Advancement as an alternative to headgear for class II malocclusions?
I have 2 teeth back will I need headgear please answer I really want to know
Sir, u said if TAD won't Work use headgear..
But we shouldn't use TAD in growing patients rt?
Hi! Is there a cause of open bite with cevical headgear??
Cervical pull headgear in certain cases can result in an open bite, yes - something you can definitely discuss with your orthodontist!
I would ask your doc for help. There shouldnt be a reason why the floss doesn't go between teeth
Will flossing break the brackets of my teeth and if the flood string gets caught on the wire/ bracket how do I relief the tension caused from the floss and bracket? Thx once again Dr
Can you explain how to wear it
I got headgear today I don’t like it , it hurts really bad.Is that normally?
i just got mine yesterday any advice? apparently it causes respiratory issues is that true? im very scared and it also hurt for me a lot in the night
Is it correct to use it if i have deep bite?
The little mountain like bumbs do they face up or down
It depends on how your orthodontist adjusted it. They act as stops so that it doesnt slide through the tube. I usually bend mine pointing up
Hey, can you make a video on an upper removable appliance, I got rid of it a couple of months ago and still have no idea what it actually did
There are several removable appliances, do you remember the name of it ? =] Is it a bite plate?
Braces Explained yeah that sounds familiar 😀
So Dr. Greg, are headgears only used for overjets? can they be used to correct reverse overjets as well?
U mean UNDERJET? Or UNDERBITE?
Reverse overjet is correct and so is underbite! =] There is a different type of headgear for that called a Reverse-pull headgear or a Facemask.. I'll review those soon
Hello doctor, my question is: how do you bond strongly the braces on the teeth?
Is headgear used only in children or it can be used in adults too?
It can be use in adults to
My orthodontist added rubber bands with tad, It has been 2 weeks the rubber bands are getting loose
Is it working or?
Impossible for me to tell but I would ask your doc and see what he/she says at your next appointment! Exciting stuff :D
I got turbos instead but this video was great 😁😁😁😁😁
So glad you enjoyed it =]
Will you ever do anything on reverse pull headgear?
Does headgear work for adults?
Can you please talk about open bits and how they are fixed because I would love to get more info then what I’m getting
There is a ton of stuff when it comes to open bites but I will try my best!
Hey Have your open bite got fixed if yes then how
Is using headgear prevent extraction in adults (bimaxillary protrusion)?
Plz reply
Impossible for me to tell online! I would ask your orthodontist because he/she is more familiar with your case
What if someone has bimaxilary protrusion?
