I’ve had braces for four years now. I had wisdom teeth pulled, canine teeth pulled, special type of braces to pull out impacted teeth and even jaw surgery. But out of all that, spacers were by far the most painful experience.

Ahh i'm so sorry! The pain will go away before you know it. Just stick w/ softer foods for the time being & take whatever medication you take for a regular headache. It will pass soon =] You're on your way to a more beautiful smile every day that passes!
Got my spacers in yesterday, as I'm watching this, and my dentist had to really put pressure to get these bands in! I can only chew with my front teeth and crisps are a heck no! I didn't agree to this!

I understand your pain I only have 1 on each side because me teeth are so tightly packed. That's why it hurts. My jaws , gum, and mouth overall are on fire
A quick hack for going to the ortho Take a pain reliever ( Advil ibuprofen, asprin etc) Bc when they( if they tighten your braces) the medicine will have kicked in so they won’t hurt It worked wonders for me Hope this helps anyone 😊😊😊
I know this is an old comment but be careful with taking any NSAID pain relievers, as they can slow the blood clotting process. If the dentist needs to do anything such as an extraction, take a non-NSAID pain reliever instead. For just surface ortho/nothing that would result in bleeding, either is probably fine.

I’ve had my spacers for 8 days now. There was a lot of discomfort the first days and finally day 7 it didn’t “hurt” anymore (just pressure!) but I maintained a soft diet primarily the whole time so far. Those gummy vitamins were tough though!
I got my spacers 7 hours ago, and at first when i put them in it didn't hurt at all just felt uncomfortable after some time like what 5-6 hours i started felling pain and time passed it got worse now i'm crying it hurts so much, after the orthodontist i ate alot of hard food like a bar of snickers and peanuts i think and probably that's why it hurts so much, but yea i hope it goes away....

I don't why exactly but I don't feel that big pain in my teeth yet, I feel this uncomfortable sensation in the mouth but that's it. and I saw the doctor last Friday so he can set the separators I have 8 separators. I'm on my second day. Keep in touch.
OMG. I had those spacers put in during my journey at 35. I was in so much pain for two weeks before those came out. I can do the pain just not deal with spacers. Thankfully on my second go round with braces I was told no spacers. Huge sigh of relief.
Okay so I just got my spacers and to be honest it all depends on your pain tolerance. I got two spacers one on each side of the top part of my mouth, towards the back. Mines personally didn’t hurt but then again like I said before, it all depends on your pain tolerance. Also don’t be scared…I was terrified but i was overthinking it. Btw it’s going to feel weird but you’ll get used to it eventually. I hope this helps!!❤️❤️

When I woke up the next morning, my left side was a little sore but as long as I didn't chew on that side, it didn't hurt. Idk, I'm still on the second day, but don't overthink it! Everything will be fine.
It's not just pain tolerance. You have to realise that the levels of pain being experienced by people are different. Some people have very closely packed teeth, making creating space between them very difficult and painful. For others, it's a lot easier. I have a high pain tolerance but the spacers I have in right now are incredibly uncomfortable and I'm unable to eat anything. The orthodontist putting in my spacers actually struggled so badly to fit in the spacers he had to call in the head orthodontist to do it because it was so tight, there was virtually no space between my teeth.

Since I'm treating my mouth I wish I was a dentist. It's awesome the things you can do. I'm super obsessed. It's just so relaxing even if it hurts a bit from time to time
For me, the spacers didn’t hurt, it just felt weird being in the middle of my teeth. I still have them and I’m fine with it. It just depends on the person.

Let me just clearly state here it all depends on PAIN TOLERANCE I’ve been through a lot of painful medical things in my life and I consider myself to have a high pain tolerance, although I was watching videos freaking out over all the comments for a week before getting them. I got 2 yesterday. I have more soreness from them forcing the bands between my teeth. Was supposed to have received 8 in total but my back molars are so tight, they stopped trying after the 1st 2. THANKFULLY!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌

Hello to anyone watching this! If your anything like me, you are here because you're nervous about the process of getting spacers, and I just wanted to share my experience to maybe help some people :). Firstly, everyone saying the pain is unbearable is a little worrying. However, even as someone with low pain tolerance, it really isn't that bad. It may be a bit uncomfortable for the first day or so, and a bit painful too, but just make sure not to put pressure on them and you should be okay. The pain itself is pretty uncomfortable when your teeth are messed with, but certainly nothing as bad as getting a tooth pulled. Just make sure not to put any pressure on your teeth and everything should be okay! The process of getting them on is also quick and painless, only around 5 minutes. Make sure to just prepare some soft foods for the following days and you should be good! Also take some basic anti pain meds like Aleve or Tylenol. Hoped this helped a few people!
I just got spacers on today! They really hurt to go in bc my mouth is so tiny. 8 spacers in total and ohhhh gosh its been like 2 hours and the headache has started. It's gonna be a long week XD Ive been watching all your braces explained videos, so informative! Brackets officially go on in 7 days!!!!! Been waiting for like 10 years to get these on and I can finally afford them! A 3 year treatment plan with jaw surgery somewhere in the middle. Bro I had my braces for like 2 weeks and I got the spacers and now my expanders and they hurt like so freakkkkkkiiing badddddd. But I hold in my tears so much my face turned red

I got my braces and spacers on Sept 4 with my braces i felt pressure after 4 hours and then my teeth was very sensitive by that night i took Tylenol which help me my teeth they are still sensitive when i touch it but i cant wait to my spacers come out

I got my spacers today & they are hurt the first few hours but after that it doesn’t hurt at all. You can’t eat the same foods you would usually eat but try noodles because they helped for me :)

@@interlude6993 two weeks of pain…it was to the point were cold water hurt my teeth so I’m praying for you…. Again pain is different for everyone but the pain was excruciating for me. I’ve gotten my braces installed on the 4th week and after the spacers pain the pain from the braces itself has been a piece of cake.
@@Davdngo thanks for responding... it sounds like it was really tough. I'm on day 6 and I still have a week to go. hoping braces are less painful for me as well, i ended up taking a lot of ibuprofen to deal with the spacers which has made it a lot easier.
I got spacers last week, I'm 23 and they're still slightly sore but I'm so excited to get my braces in 2 days! My orthodontist has been practicing for a few decades and says I'm one of the most severely crowded cases he's seen. This is going to change my life, your videos have helped me so much!
I had 5 spacers put in ( 1 on top and 4 on the bottom) , and to be honest it didn’t hurt all I felt is a little soreness but nothing to bad .. Monday is my braces day!

am i the only person who didnt experience any pain with my spacers (i had 4). i had them for almost 2 months, and i did two rounds, and i didn’t experience much pain at all. the only pain i would get was sometimes i would be chewing food and the spacers would get pushed into my gums, but that’s it. now i have my expander and i also haven’t experienced any pain what so ever, just a lisp and a bit of uncomfortability. maybe i have a high pain tolerance or something, idk. all i can say is that i was so so so scared about spacers and expanders when i saw what people said in the comments, but i want everyone to know, that it truly is not that bad. sure it is different for everyone, but it really is not as bad as everyone makes it seem
Don’t worry guys spacers only hurt a little bit for a day or two and after that it feels fine, and be sure to use medicine to help lower the pain as well
I got mine yesterday. I have 10 in total, I thought it was REALLY gonna hurt but it's not that bad I mean it does hurt but its more so uncomfortable but bearable.
Day one: it doesn’t hurt at all😄 it’s a little uncomfortable but totally fine!! Day two: i woke up crying and I hate everything about life (took me ten minutes to eat a banana so if that gives you any idea of how sensitive my teeth where) and it’s like 10:30 now and all I’ve eaten today was a banana, mashed potatoes and apple sauce anyways I’m gonna go to bed and update you tomorrow 😩😭😭 Day three: much better! I took some pain killers this morning and haven’t felt anything all day, kinda I can’t chew or touch my teeth and all I’ve been eating today has been smoothies, BUT I ate a babell cheese wheel thing I just used only my front teeth
Im saying it hurts soooo bad. When they first put them in it was very thick. I went home to take a nap and boom i was in PAINN. And i have to have them in for a week😭😭😭😭 it does not feel like popcorn

Spacers made my life a living hell. I took them out after a few days and luckily my orthodontist was still able to put in my bands with no issue.

For me, the spacers didn’t hurt, it just felt weird being in the middle of my teeth. I still have them and I’m fine with it. It just depends on the person.

I’ve been through a lot of painful medical things in my life and I consider myself to have a high pain tolerance, although I was watching videos freaking out over all the comments for a week before getting them.
They are uncomfortable but not sore.
Hope this helps anyone who’s reading all these comments thinking it’ll be so bad. Might not be for you! 💓

I got 2 yesterday. I have more soreness from them forcing the bands between my teeth. Was supposed to have received 8 in total but my back molars are so tight, they stopped trying after the 1st 2. THANKFULLY!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌

Hello to anyone watching this! If your anything like me, you are here because you're nervous about the process of getting spacers, and I just wanted to share my experience to maybe help some people :).
Firstly, everyone saying the pain is unbearable is a little worrying. However, even as someone with low pain tolerance, it really isn't that bad. It may be a bit uncomfortable for the first day or so, and a bit painful too, but just make sure not to put pressure on them and you should be okay. The pain itself is pretty uncomfortable when your teeth are messed with, but certainly nothing as bad as getting a tooth pulled. Just make sure not to put any pressure on your teeth and everything should be okay!
The process of getting them on is also quick and painless, only around 5 minutes.
Make sure to just prepare some soft foods for the following days and you should be good! Also take some basic anti pain meds like Aleve or Tylenol. Hoped this helped a few people!

A 3 year treatment plan with jaw surgery somewhere in the middle. Can't wait for the end product, definitely not looking forward to the pain lol

same. i got my spacers on 11/25. got them taken off 12/4. i can easily say they did not hurt (maybe i already had enough space). i just got my braces put on today and i feel pressure/tension but no pain. i was told the real pain comes around the 2-3 day. idk but so far so good. my cousin and brother got braces and they were in pain after only 4 hours after getting them. i hope i’m not jinxing myself into any pain (btw i got my braces on only 14 hours ago). hopefully the next few days to come treats me how these last 2-3 weeks have!

I just got my spacers today and they hurt like hell but I'm getting braces Sept. 20. I can't imagine braces being any more irritating and painful. Asprin or ibuprofen help

I got my braces and spacers on Sept 4 with my braces i felt pressure after 4 hours and then my teeth was very sensitive by that night i took Tylenol which help me my teeth they are still sensitive when i touch it but i cant wait to my spacers come out

I got my spacers 6 hours ago and they were KILLING ME until I drank a smoothie idk why but it helped so much now I feel completely fine :)

Hello! Not everyone. If your orthodontist uses brackets on your molars instead of bands, then there is no need for spacers!

I got 8 spacers yesterday I’ve gotten my wisdom already taken out and the pain from the spacers is far much worse. I am unable to properly brush my teeth nor eat solids. At first it was just pressure and now it’s pain and extreme sensitivity!!
I'm in the same exact shoes as you. On day 3 rn TT how long did it take for the pain to go away? Or were you sore until you got the braces? How were the braces themselves
@@interlude6993 two weeks of pain…it was to the point were cold water hurt my teeth so I’m praying for you…. Again pain is different for everyone but the pain was excruciating for me. I’ve gotten my braces installed on the 4th week and after the spacers pain the pain from the braces itself has been a piece of cake.
@@Davdngo thanks for responding... it sounds like it was really tough. I'm on day 6 and I still have a week to go. hoping braces are less painful for me as well, i ended up taking a lot of ibuprofen to deal with the spacers which has made it a lot easier.
I got spacers last week, I'm 23 and they're still slightly sore but I'm so excited to get my braces in 2 days! My orthodontist has been practicing for a few decades and says I'm one of the most severely crowded cases he's seen. This is going to change my life, your videos have helped me so much!

I had 5 spacers put in ( 1 on top and 4 on the bottom) , and to be honest it didn’t hurt all I felt is a little soreness but nothing to bad .. Monday is my braces day!

I remember when I had spacers put in, it was extremely painful the first few days, but getting my braces hurt even more than spacers the first few days of having braces
Edit: also, my teeth were more sensitive to cold then they usually are, I have a sensitivity to cold in my teeth, so it’s warm stuff that relieve my dental pain

I have four spacers on the bottom and two on the top. For the first 20-30 minutes it feels like meat in your teeth. Beyond that timeframe OUCH IT HURTS SO BAD IM IN PAIN PLEASE HELP ME ITS ONLY BEEN LIKE TEO HOURS WITH THEM

Great suggestion! Making sure you brush and using mouthwash around the spacers to keep them clean helps a bunch!

am i the only person who didnt experience any pain with my spacers (i had 4). i had them for almost 2 months, and i did two rounds, and i didn’t experience much pain at all. the only pain i would get was sometimes i would be chewing food and the spacers would get pushed into my gums, but that’s it.
now i have my expander and i also haven’t experienced any pain what so ever, just a lisp and a bit of uncomfortability. maybe i have a high pain tolerance or something, idk.
all i can say is that i was so so so scared about spacers and expanders when i saw what people said in the comments, but i want everyone to know, that it truly is not that bad. sure it is different for everyone, but it really is not as bad as everyone makes it seem

Don’t worry guys spacers only hurt a little bit for a day or two and after that it feels fine, and be sure to use medicine to help lower the pain as well

Day two: i woke up crying and I hate everything about life (took me ten minutes to eat a banana so if that gives you any idea of how sensitive my teeth where) and it’s like 10:30 now and all I’ve eaten today was a banana, mashed potatoes and apple sauce anyways I’m gonna go to bed and update you tomorrow 😩😭😭
Day three: much better! I took some pain killers this morning and haven’t felt anything all day, kinda I can’t chew or touch my teeth and all I’ve been eating today has been smoothies, BUT I ate a babell cheese wheel thing I just used only my front teeth
