There have been multiple instances where a player just straight up doesnt read my commander and then gets confused when I start doing stuff with him out.
Out of spite against heist decks, I made an "only lands" deck. It will NEVER win against anyone, but it brings me great glee to watch all of their heist cards fizzle.
It has been at least a decade, do man lands still exist? an activated ability on a land that turns it into a creature temporarily. Also that "only lands" is so close to being an Onlyfans pun, I just don't know how to make it work.
Mind goblin is banned for another problem really (especially in legacy). In theory, if you are running stickers, you are playing goblin prison. But if you are not running stickers then you are def not running goblin prison unless you run copy spells. Which means, in theory if you are not running stickers pregame, your oponent immeadatly knows that you are nether running copy or goblins. This creates a problem. And the solution is everybody should be running stickers regardless if they are playing goblins or not, else you are at a infomation disadvantage, andthat is a massive logistical issue.

The heist mechanic in brawl seems fine. Give it a month and we’ll all forget how strong those cards are. Davriel, Soul Broker brawl commander on the other hand is a menace that deserves a stern rant about it.

I really hate playing against heist, especially Grenzo. It feels horrible watching my opponent play my best cards for free while I draw a bunch of land. Grenzo is one of the most common commanders I face in brawl. It feels like I'm being forced to run a heavy counterspell deck to deal with it but I hate strategies like that.

Someone talked about using a land-only Slimefoot deck. They are perfectly fine not winning with the deck for the trade off of heist players mining salt lol
Yeah and if your the (wrong colors) you just don't have Any thing to stop them from histing you. I think it kinda ruins the hole color wheel. To be fair they already ruined it a while ago. So who's looking forward to the mouth or 6 mouths of the pushed modern masters3 cards?!
@@chrispratt3666 Run more card advantage engines then. Or run Opposition Agent (not sure if this is legal in Brawl). Or cards that punish players for committing crimes. Or cards that make you, the player, untargetable (Leyline of Sanctity, Metropolis Reformer, Shalai). Run cards that stop ETB triggers (hushbringer, huatli's honorguard) or that remove the effects (darksteel mutation, kenrith's transformation). You could also target the Grenzo with cheap removal (speaking of value and tempo); Swords to Plowshares is one mana, Go for the Throat is two mana. Grenzo is six mana, which is not easy to get to, and commander tax will quickly make it unplayable. Land removal also exists; deny their mana. Grenzo may be annoying, but it's not actually all that strong. And like you said, counterspells exist; use them. If you're constantly running into Grenzo, *run answers to it.* I am genuinely baffled by the amount of people that play MtG that *refuse* to play sufficient interaction or adapt to strategies that beat their own. Heist is three random cards from your deck. Brawl is a singleton format. The likelihood of them always having heist cards and hitting cards from the heist trigger that are useful to their strategy is low. If they're taking the cards you need to be successful every time, then you to diversify your deckbuilding and fill it with more redundancy. Complaining and disregarding all solutions doesn't solve your problem. If your deck always fails, change it so it doesn't. If you don't like the resulting play patterns, try different solutions. If you don't like any solutions, then switch formats. Or play a card game with play patterns you do like. For example, I've found that I get enjoyment from Flesh and Blood since it provides similar commander-esque play patterns. Plus you can play it completely free online. Apologies if this seems standoffish, but this sort of mentality--"I don't like this type of playstyle, it shouldn't be in the game"--is the exact reason I stopped playing non-cEDH commander in the first place. Commander players complain more than any other format's players than I've interacted with (and I talk regularly with modern players). Stickers always did seem like they could be difficult in proper formats but isn't most of the onus on the player who uses them and those have been fine? Moreover I think attractions posed no problem at all so there's like 0 issue to ban those; obscene amounts of tokens are more of a logistical issue than that.
Those silly bans can't stop me and my friends from playing the cards :D We recently got into magic in my 4 friend group, we bought ourselves a 10-15$ decks from a guy on the internet and we havin a blast so far meeting every few evenings for a round or two and some beer
well, yeah. bans don't exist to police kitchen table magic (though they should be used to inform your own house banlist), they exist for the sake of sanctioned play not sucking ass.

The amazing thing is, it's not on arena. They just did it on paper. Now, as a (rather inexperienced) coder myself, I can understand not putting in stickers and all the acorn cards, but I still feel like there were a lot of great opportunities for fun cards in arena from unfinity!
Because stickers are not an arena only mechanic. They don't want to have cards that are legal on Arena but not legal in paper, in the same format. So, if they want to ban it in a format (e.g. legacy) on paper, it must be banned in that format on Arena.

Every banlist, we get to see lots of dumb shit fucking destroyed forever and fun card from the past let out of jail. The lists aren't always perfect, but it's always a lot of fun when they come out. You don't have to suffere the disapointment of reading "no changes" to the banlist of your favorite format being torn to shred by wild dogs.

As a commander player, I just trust that whenever an opponent's card is relevant they'll let me know how much damage I take.

Genuine suggestion: run non-exile removal and some reanimate/flashback effects. They're basically just tutoring your cards for you.
