My favorite companions 1. Wing Chun: true, his abrasive personality leaves a LOT to be desired, but he has no ill intentions, and I gotta give props to the voice acting here, Like this name, I love his fighting style is based on the wing chun martial arts. 2. Emmett: This otter sounds quite hammy with his dialogue, and I *LUV* it. 3. Mormo: Dunno why, but he's one of my favorite witchdoctor companions 4. Fan Flanders: Since the 2014 update, she's quite a fan favorite, Her criticals hits and going "A-hahaaaaaa!" when defeating an enemy are perfect. 5. Carcarius Grimtooth: He's definitely the white sheep of the shark ougans and gray cutthroats, and to establish how terrifying they are, when Carcarius' attacks fizzles, the opponents does a victory animation, and the super hit has them act scared. 6. Peter Quint: For those who liked having a pelican companion, Peter's for you. His Mega Hit is the best. 7. Gaspard De Vole: I feel like it's fitting for the story if your pirate was orphaned due to the armada. And having a Guinea Pig as a companion (who's species is getting victimzed by the armada) makes them feel like a rebel.
I'd say Toro should be A instead of S. For 1, he isn't really needed in privateer or musketeers builds since a privateer can offer better versions of corps, and Contessa does damage way faster, and you don't need to give her riposte since you can just give her valors fortress. As for muskets, it has some usefulness, but I would be better off dealing more damage with an ability that doesn't miss rather ran relying on chains
You’re right! you have a point that Toro is not very great on musketeer since they don’t benefit from the buffs too much. But since toro is available to every class and typically gives great value no matter what, (except musketeer) I think he deserves S tier.
It's a good list but I do have to ask, What about the side story companions, other companions you get through the story line and the crown shop companions(Those who are only available to get like fin dorsal).
I’d say buying fin dorsal as a buccaneer, he’d be D tier. Only has epic strike and his repel boarders is not ideal. He looks awesome though! Goronado on the other hand would be an A tier companion for bucs and privateers. He has great epics and his brutal charge is very strong! There are lots of other crown shop companions that I might do later 😉
This list is surprisingly accurate in how I see them. But I would believe that Gracie is the worst A-Tier. Yes, her mines and summon is great but she dies very quickly if surrounded by enemies.
If i could take a shot at what old scratch pairs the LEAST well with id say buccs. They dont have much reliance on spells (if any) therefore they cant get too much use out of him unless you are a fully geared maxxed pirate with equipment spells
Yes you are right! Buc does not get much use from scratch and the only reason you would use him would be if you have captain blood’s jacket or if you are supporting other teammates! For the most part though, scratch gives insane value in every scenario
I'm glad my crab boy ranks pretty good. I absolutely love him and he's one of my favorites. Also the shark witch Doctor ever since I started playing the witch Doctor he's been my main. I am curious what's your opinion on Bonnie Anne?
Bonnie is very solid and can be used for every class! I’d recommend a DPS build with overwatch for musk, privy, and witch doctor. For swash and buc, other companions fill the DPS role better so I’d recommend an anti musketeer build with quick draw. You can find ways to get amazing value from her no matter what!
heres my problems with your opinions yes, some of these companions dont synergize with the pirate's buffs, but that does not mean that they are bad, buffs help a lot for overall DPS, dont get me wrong, but you dont have to be dependant on them at all, witchdoctor especially showcases this to be the case, as there are very few witchdoctor companions in the game, and using all witchdoctors is risky in a lot of situations as witches have very low defense capabilities without farmed gear also, i use dead mike on my witch, and the way i use him is purposefully let him take damage and trigger enemy epics with cheap shot and first strike so he can do as much as possible instead of relying on him only blade storm chaining, its the "die on purpose" strategy, and it genuinely works
I think it’s not possible to do a definitive best companion their list bc it changed depending on your class like if your playing buccaneer old scratch is a still good but I would argue Peter squint is your best companion
Even with max relentless I still get better chains with Sarah Steele as a swashbuckler lol. She’s definitely better than Sarah on paper I just find it funny that I have better luck with her over the one that should be better. So long as repel boarders doesn’t kill her shadows then she usually one shot kills an enemy.

Say what you want about Wing Chun, he's very abrasive, but he uses tough love, because he wants you to survive.

I agree! Sarah is extremely fun to use and is definitely one of the best swashbuckler companions!
Well, I find Monkey King to be the worse than Dead Mike and Gaspard combined, at least they have an ability and way more epics
