Also, Eren didn't see the entire future and become omnipotent until he made contact with Zeke. He had only seen glimpses before that.

From what I gathered in the finale, Eren knew the end result would be 80% of humanity being wiped out, regardless of how many times he's tried to change it. The glimpses he's getting is from his future self, meaning him contacting Zeke in the present isn't needed for him to see the end. The reason Anthony gave as to why Eren asked Hange for more ideas was to prevent the exact conflict you're talking about. They are directly related.

Another thing, the clouds Eren is looking at is smoke from the titans. It’s meant to represent his “delusion” from what’s actually going on.
All Imma say is if Attack on Titan is ya first anime, it may be hard to watch others and feel the impact of the story and characters. This series too goated!
They have to watch Death Note and Vinland Saga. After that, I don't know what I'll recommend

It's easy to justify or even support the rumbling when it's this abstract concept you're far removed from. I think the show did a good job of first presenting it that way, and then bringing it to your face and showing you the reality of it: it's ugly and gruesome and dark. No sane person sees that and takes joy in it. (Except maybe Floch lol)
Very true...nobody would take joy in it. But anybody who would choose to not understand it even with all its gore and terrible implications is just being naive.
Hange accepted it that yes..this is actually the only way for the island to survive given the current circumstances, floch reiterated it with his dying breath that if they stop eren now, the islanders would be killed, and eren explained it in this special with tears and even in the previous episode (which was basically the same conversation).
And it'll be even clarified further in the next special.
I'm not saying it's great to watch, I'm not saying it's good to go around killing the world.
But I'm saying if you and someone are pitched head to head at a fight to the death I'm sure you'd pick yourself to live. Now scale that up to your island against the world.
It's messed up but like allie said (which I'm glad she did) I understand why he's gotta do it.

Told you it was emotional. The 1st ten minutes felt like a horror movie to me. I cried there. And RIP to Hange!! I cried over her death every time I watch it. 😢
Hange’s been my favorite character for Years and I legit started watching season 1 as it aired when I was like FOURTEEN 😭🙌 i just loved how strange she is in that hilarious way and the fact she had serious HANDS and was the biggest weapon designer/ researcher for there side was so cool to flesh her out and make her unique from everybody else. She may have one of the most pivotal moments in the entire franchise creating those thunder spears 🤔sad to see her go out but honestly NGL this is the BEST death in the entire show to me. The music, cinematography, choreo, voice acting where all just 👌it got me in my feels when she woke up and saw everyone and im SO HAPPY the gave us that moment of Closure. She went out a BOSS saving everybody, can’t ask for a better sendoff for such a dope character 🫡

One of the theories on human violence is that the vast majority are “moral decisions”. The perpetrator knows that they are hurting a human being, but they feel it is their duty to. “Moral” is in quotes because some of the examples a person uses to justify killing another include a person made fun of their god, a woman dressed too provocatively, a person disrespected them and must be punished, and child must be made an example of to prevent further rebellion, and more.
These are all stupid reasons of course, but back to AOT, it is probably THE show that illustrates the above theory on violence so effectively. Note just how many times people do mental gymnastics to justify their cruelty. Hange torturing a prisoner to get information, Pyxis sending 20% of humanity in Paradis outside the walls to get eaten in order to avoid food shortages, Erwin willingly laying wreckage to a town in order to capture the female titan, Reiner infiltrating Paradis to fulfil his duty, and of course Eren’s mental gymnastics to justify the rumbling. So much of AOT is about challenging us to ask ourselves where is our moral line. It is one of the many things I find so brilliant about this series.
Last note because this will come up again. Each of the above examples, you see important scenes where they, in a moment of vulnerability, admit that their “true” intent were selfish and that they had convinced themselves of their justifications. Erwin admitting the mountain of corpses was due to him wanting to prove he was right that there are people outside the walls. Reiner breaking down to Eren that his main driver was to be viewed as a hero. Pyxis admitting he, just once, wants to have a victory over the Titans. As I said above, as a commentary on human violence, AOT is probably the best I’ve seen
This is the first reaction channel to react the way you are meant to, to the rumbling. He knew Eren saw this as freedom before Eren even said it, cause he knows. Eren is the badguy at this point. He is the bringer of death. He has gone full Psycho.

I didn't like the Hanji death on my first watch, I thought it felt rushed, but now I LOVE it. That she wakes up in Scout Valhalla with Erwin, Mobilit, Sasha is *chef's kiss*.
Isayama is a damn genius, I can't see it no other way. Don't know if you peeped it but we see a glimpse of Eren & Zeke's grandparents left locked up in a Marlyean prison during the rumbling. The fact that's layered in there as a throwaway is credit to his writing and world building.

Like genocide is terrible, we can ALL agree on that. But you gotta look at the whole situation. Everyone on the island was gonna be killed JUST BECAUSE how everyone else viewed them. So it’s literally them or us. Like it’s shitty but even Eren tried to find other ideas from various avenues and couldn’t find one. I stand 10 toes behind eren
From Marco’s final line I think also bleeds into the rest of the series “we haven’t even talked yet” even single major decision the ability for discussion was stripped away. Like Samuel and Daz took away Armins ability to talk things out which lead to their deaths. Eren refusing to talk to the Alliance or let them help with a different solution. The declaration of war nations were dragged to. The only conversation is Eren and Reiner in the basement is the only real time two opposing sides talked and that is why I think it’s one of the most important scenes with Eren saying him and Reiner are the same. They both could make every excuse for their actions but at the end they want to do it what they did and both invented personalities to coop with their choices (soldier Reiner/“Badass” Eren)

Killing an ENTIRE population because they don’t like and could never accept them. Faulting them for their ancestors over 2000 years ago which has nothing to do with them. Everyone can say well Eren is committing genocide but what exactly was zekes plan? Genocide is genocide no matter how it occurs (trampling people with titans or stopping a race from procreating)

I think I was 16 when I heard about AoT.
Then all the hype surrounding it, I finally made the jump(2013)
Its strange to say but sometimes fictional characters have more of an impact than IRL ppl.
I met Hange when I was 16, I thought she was so cool and bad ass, unfortunately that turned out to be true to the bitter end..
Hanges Chapter was 132, I remember flipping through the pages, my heart was Pounding, intensely...
Then all of a sudden, slowly flipping, it happens... 💔

I'm a AoT fanatic, I re watched S1 at least 70 times(they took 4 YEARS TO MAKE SEASON 2, that's why), S2 At least 30 times(yes ik every EP by heart) and so on..
Her acts of heroism will always pain me, profoundly so, even now as I'm writings this, I can't help but choke up.
She went out as a selfless Hero, a true Scout.
Also, idk if anyone else mentioned it, but when she was on fire fighting the Collosal's, one panel specifically made it look like she had wing's.

It's not really how stupid we are as a race, rather how selfish we are to protect our own. I mean life is just cruel and things move on, all the while people forget and the future generations probably end up fine with what their ancestors did.
