I don't know why but, I just wanted to share. I'm a very detail oriented person in case you haven't noticed 😆 So AS I WAS EDITING.... FOR SOME REASON, during the 1st scene of AOT, the scene where the kids were getting ended bro... I PAUSED ON EVERY SHOT & OBSERVED the detail that AOT put into that scene. It was so explicitly done they wanted us to seee it and I could not help myself. The slow mo, the angle choices, the footprint (I dare you to fr just look at the detail there wtf) !! Like, "yo what did they just put on this screen for us to see??" And to kids no less. Super ruthless of them omggg. Ngl It made my stomach turn looking again. THAT IS INSANE. They gave us the perspective of what a character we've loved for so long is doing and man that hurt.

In the manga, there was a panel during “zeke vs levi fight part two” in paradis. Zeke was telling him that the world would invade paradis with worldnation war force with the intention of exterminating ALL eldians. In that panel you can see soldiers with World war 1 uniform landing in paradis. That little detail MAPPA missed. my POV, Eren is not doing this because of freedom. He is doing this because otherwise ALL ELDIANS would be massacred. He was disappointed Because he knew there was no other way. He stayed in Marley only to hear that all the world would give them the back. Will Tibur was rallying the world leaders to invade paradis. At that point, he realized how wrong he was. The world wasn’t as free as he thought it would be. He wasn’t free at all. When you are cornered like that, Freedom is the result of all horrendous acts.
Didn’t you hear him in the beginning? Were you distracted?
Thats why zeke’s solution was sterilizing ALL Eldians to give the opportunity to have long lives and honorable deaths.

@@shakk3n Yes he is though. He spoke to a child he knows can’t even understand what he’s saying so there’s no cryptic details behind his words, there would be no reason to when the kid can’t even understand. “When I learned humanity lived beyond the walls….I was….disappointed” “I wanted to wipe everything out”. These lines are absolutely CRUCIAL to understanding Erens character and the horror behind the this is freedom scene. He appears as a kid to not only deal with the atrocities he is unleashing upon the world but also because what he is doing right now represents him attempting to fulfil his childhood dream. To go beyond the walls into an empty world full of vibrant scenery where nobody else is there to tell him where he can and can’t go. He has multiple reasons why he’s doing the rumbling but to achieve this freedom is the main one. Accessing the future memories and effectively living in the past present and future simultaneously has driven him beyond psychotic. That’s why he relates to Reiner as they both committed atrocities in pursuit of a selfish goal, hiding behind the facade that they’re doing this primarily for the sake of others. I understand Eren is an incredibly complex character but it’s important not to dismiss this fascinating aspect of who he is that has been explicitly stated to us by none other than himself. That’s why he starts the speech to Ramzi with saying he’s doing it for Paradis and then stops himself saying something along the lines of “no….there’s more.” Then begins to talk about how disappointed he is that the world wasn’t like Armins book, not this simple empty playground for him to do as he wishes in.

I think you're the first person I've seen acknowledge Eren’s admittance that part of the reason he's doing this is simply that he was disappointed that people outside the walls were still alive and the world wasn't like his picture book. That’s only half the reasoning tho, as we know from season 3 his disappointment isn’t necessarily that they’re alive but that they’re all racist and want eldians dead, when eren was talking to armin right before he kissed historia hand he talked about how they finally were gonna be free but then it flashes to grishas sister being eaten by dogs, and at the end of s3 he says “if we kill all of them will we finally be free” he’s not mad that they’re alive he’s mad that they’re restricting his freedom he’s fought so hard for

"Fiery water, lands of ice, sandy snowfields... anyone who saw those things would be the freest person in the world". Eren actually said the same exact words in S1 E13 titled Primal Desire. It's one of the most brilliant callbacks in the entire series. How fitting is it that he says this as he looks out at the view of clouds in front of him blissfully ignorant of the carnage and destruction below. I think him reverting back to his child self is a coping mechanism for him to move forward.

  • @rei-ef6xm

"It's as you said, Floch. But we just can't give up...". Hange's words poignantly encompass one of the most important themes of Aot imo. Even though the cycle of violence and hatred will always continue, we have to try our best not to perpetuate it and even if we can't, we have to keep trying and that's exactly what the scouts are trying to do. Because they actually had a hand in furthering the Rumbling by helping Eren get to Zeke. Aot never claimed to be a story about making the right decisions. It's always been about making choices that one thinks they will regret the least. Stopping Eren is a decision that may or may not work out in their favor, but they just don't want to regret not stopping a genocide, which is completely understandable. The scouts represent what the Survey Corps stands for: fighting against insurmountable odds for even the slightest chance of an unrealistic idealist world.

Her ability to harden (Armored), to call titans to her (Beast), to crystallize herself (Warhammer). That's just wild honestly lol!

I don't think so . The ability to harden and crystallize was never exlusive to a certain titan. Eren did it in Season 3 which is way before he ate the Warhammer. Reiner and Zeke appeared to be able to hardened their nape during Season 3 also. I also remember Reiner cyrstallizing his hands when he was climbing on the walls of Shinganshina back then too.

@@osengcaradse3565 True true but all the other abilities like calling titans to her or even crystallizing herself like the Warhammer isn't something the others could do. • @farial9599
      @farial9599 Рік тому +4

@@osengcaradse3565 I think every titan can manifest to certain extent, but female titan is the most suitable one for it. Eren can do the hardening after he drank something (possibly other titan spinal fluid) before the Reiss's chappel collapse. Reiner can do the hardening only in season 3 (possibly he was made to eat/drink something when he and Berthold reached Zeke outside the wall, otherwise it doesn't make sene why didn't he use it sooner when he fought Eren). Afterwards, Reiner never use it again and Eren's hardening is limited compared to Annie's.
So all of those are indeed manifestation from other titan's ability.

    • @1999bazz
      @1999bazz Рік тому +3

They stated that the Female titan is an all-rounder aka versatile. Meaning she has no special ability like the other titans.
      Think of it like this:
The Female titan being an all-rounder means she can copy the abilities of the other 9 but her copied abilities can't match up to the originals. It's like saying she can only copy up to 90% of what the original can do.
The other titans all specialize in something so they lack this versatility. For example, they can get hardening from the Warhammer but that's it. Unlike the female titan, they can't use the crystal ability that the Warhammer can.
Tdlr; the Female titan is a jack of all trades, master of none type. While the other titans are masters of one.

But after he learns that the titans that he hated were not the enemy, he had to face at the end that he was the enemy of the humanity he tried to protect, making the death of all his companions pointless and his suffering pointless. I feel like if the world didn't hate Eldians, Eren probably wouldn't have done the rumbling. Sure he was disappointed that humanity existed outside the walls, but he acknowledged that there are good people on both sides. I see it more so as he's using protecting Paradis as an excuse to justify fulfilling his desires of seeing the world like it was described in Armin's book. Because to him, that view is the definition of freedom.
The thing is, as long as there are people out there that want Eldians dead, Eren won't truly feel free. Because there will always be people out there trying to take away his freedom. So he decided to take theirs first (I'm not justifying the rumbling, just putting Eren's thought process into perspective)

Thank you for being a voice of reason, I actually think it is multi fold and you touched on one of the issues. It was a combination of the memory erasing of King Fritz giving them this false history that allowed for Armin's book to have the kind of fantastical impact on Eren as a kid, without the false history for them to believe then there is no illusion to be shattered for Eren. The other is what you mentioned, it wasn't just that humans were outside the walls it was the fact that humanity outside the walls the literally the exact same (and worse in some places) as humanity inside the walls. Eren hated those walls, hated the life behind those walls and basically didn't respect anyone there aside his family and friends.

@@projectomnia1997 Yeah, for some reason when people see a complex motivation they assume its black or white, x or y.
Eren is not simple. The 'reveal of his true motivation' this episode is meant to layer on everything else, as a shock for sure, but not to REPLACE his prior voiced motivations. That's why its so tragic and fucked up and monstrous, because its partially genuine and out of care for his friends and home, and partially maniacal childish insanity.

Dear Anime only Shingeki no Kyojin Viewers. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT.
Right before the Rumbling started, do you remember what was happening?
That’s right, Marley AND *the rest of the world* were LITERALLY in the process of invading and killing every single Eldian on Paradis Island.
*They were actively in the process of genocide. They were actively and intentionally about to kill millions of innocent people. That was ACTUALLY occurring, but the rumbling stopped them.*
The rumbling is a cruel thing for sure, but Eren Yeager is doing it out of *self-defence.*
He is not to blame for it, the people who chose to attack him and his home are.
Blame Marley and the rest of the world for the rumbling, not Eren Yeager or Zeke Yeager.

I don't understand your reasoning. Floch loves his people, but unfortunately the leaders of his people were determined to do a course of action that would lead to his people's destruction, so Floch realised he had to blackmail his leaders with the threat of titanisation and kill some of them in order to save the rest of his people.
You make it sound like Floch just wanted to betray and kill people for no reason like a megalomaniac, like he just wanted to rule and abuse power. But if that was true then he could have swam a few meters back to shore of paradis to treat his wound. Instead he grabbed onto the boat knowing his bulletwound would not get treated, knowing he was going on a suicide mission because his number one priority is the safety, survival and prosperity of his people.
So why would he betray his people when he prioritises his people above his own life?

If you've seen Game of Thrones or Harry Potter, the type of "time travel" used in Attack on Titan is the bootstrap paradox. It's not like Marvel or Back to the Future time travel where you can travel to alternate timelines or change stuff in the past. The future influences the past that leads to the circumstances where the future influences the past. The future has to happen so the past can get influenced by the future. The timeline is deterministic and unchangeable. So while Eren is conflicted about causing the Rumbling, he will ultimately cave and do it. Demonstrated very simply when he saves Ramzi. Eren has a vision where he's having the party with Ramzi, so he knows that will happen. He tries to avoid that future to see if it can be changed, but ultimately caves into his desire and saves him.

    To answer your questions,
There won’t be another season. This special part 1 covered 3 chapters in the manga. There will be another special part 2 which which will cover the remaining 5 chapters of the manga and it will air in the fall this year. I believe it will be a little longer than an hour.
At the beginning of the ep eren is so conflicted with the future because the future is basically set in stone and he can’t change it or “fight his future self”. To test this, he TRIED to walk away from ramzi because he didn’t want to be a hypocrite and save someone that he will kill later on. In the next scene we see that he ended up saving ramzi anyway which is what he saw it in his vision/“memories of the future”. This confirms the future will NOT change no matter how he feels about it currently.

Your assessment of Eren's character is great and most watchers haven't come to terms with it. The unsetting reveal that he's no longer a morally grey character, and truly committing to evil for his selfish desires.
Though we understand what brought him to this point and broke his mind, we as the audience can no longer justify or cope with his actions. It's what truly elevated his character from being great to something unique and unforgettable.
You'll see a lot of comments still trying to make excuses about him having no choice or saving his people, but we've now been given all the missing pieces of the puzzle. We know that Eren and Zeke orchestrated the Liberio massacre in order to unite the world against Paradis, Yelena confirms that the limited rumbling would have kept Paradis safe for decades, and the full reality that both Eren and Reiner had a choice not to move forward - but did so anyway.
The panning shot of the colossal titans surrounding Eren, while he reflects on the miserable walls he grew up inside of - revealing that he never truly got out of them, that they only became bigger is one of the most iconic moments in fiction in my opinion.

The FT doesn't seems to have it's abilities, so Marley could always build the best FT to suit their needs each 13 years, by making the shifters ingest the fluids of other Titans (something like Eren ingesting Armor's titan fluid in the crystal cave to use the hardening ability)
    Crystalization (Warhammer Titan)
    Hardening (Armored Titan)

What a HELL of an episode. An hour of nothing but carnage and despair. This is the most anticipated and considered the best episode of AOT, according to the fans that is and ig we can vouch too. Aside from Hange's heart-shattering sacrifice and all, We now see Erens perversion for freedom at full display, which I think is somewhat overlooked. There's more to it than just expressing his immense guilt infront of the child(Ramzi), He poured out his bottled up emotions by admitting the fact that he did what he did because of an unfulfilled dream and disappointment.
Eren is, as Kenny would say, drunk on something, an idealistic freedom of a world beyond the walls that simply doesn't exist, Eren dreamed of an empty world without people, with rivers of lava, vast seas and deserts, a world to explore and discover, and instead there were people who had taken away his freedom. He internalized that idea of freedom based through the contents of Armins book, now that it doesn't exist, He initiated the rumbling primarily for the sake of that selfish desire. To him, It's far more important than saving the island, hence recontexualizing his speech that eradicating the world is merely a pretext. in short, he's just like a child throwing a tantrum because he couldn't grab what he wants despite the guilt and all. Eren is the personification of contradiction and irony, be it his actions, emotions, and the leitmotif encompassing his character. He's a god yet a devil, a victim and a perpetrator, Selfless for sacrificing his life for his loved ones yet Selfish for trampling on others lives for his desires, desires freedom yet a slave to his unfulfilled ideal freedom and nature, hes human and a monster.

As well-written as Floch is, I could never get behind anything he did. Sure, he’s staunchly loyal to his country but it’s not Eldia he’s loyal to; it’s the Eldian Empire which prioritizes power and is turning into Marley 2.0. He’s not a patriot; he’s an extreme nationalist/jingoist. A patriot is proud of his country for what it does; a nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does. Patriotism inspires a sense accountability and unity while nationalism breeds blind arrogance, devotion, and superiority. I have zero respect for someone who disregards civilian casualties, asserts authority using fear and brutality, disregards the lives of those opposing him even if they’re his own people, has zero remorse for his actions, imprisons and kills those who goes against him & his precious empire, and is a leader of a militant xenophobic group who uses armbands to identify ppl and thinks their race is superior. There’s a reason why he and the yeagerists aren’t shown with the scouts in the afterlife. They don’t deserve to be there despite “dedicating their hearts” for their cause. Hange was more of a patriot than they ever were because like Erwin said, she did her duty.
