Thank you for the video! I have a question, is it possible to calculate the lag time in HEC RAS using other or various equations for the Tc? or just keep doing it on excel, cheers
you can calculate tc from many methods like kinamatic wave, kirpich and others...SCS lag method method is derived from the center mass of rainfall excess that means, at the center of rainfall distribution the intensity would be more and higher discharge of flow travels at faster velocity to outlet.. however ,the term time of concentration is just time taken from runoff water(first drop of water) to reach from outermost point of catchment to outlet point
Hello, Thank you for your videos. They where verry helpful. Could you please give me the reference for the formula of the time of Concentration. I cant find it and I need it for a thesis at university. Thanks a lot.
Hey, I have a small question regarding lag time if someone can help. I am trying to calculate Basin Lag time for a 130 sq. km basin in one of the Middle Eastern Countries using the time of concentration. The loss and transform method that I have used in HMS is SCS-CN. However, time of concentration is showing huge variation when calculated using SCS method ( using lambda , L & S) in comparison to calculation done using Kirpich method. My confusion is, as to which method will yield more realistic results. As the method selected for UH is SCS , should I use the same SCS Lag equation for the tc computation or go for Kirpich equation which yields a much lower (4 times ) value of tc ? Kindly guide me through.
for Middle east specially UAE and Saudi the authority is having standard code for Drainage modelling . design for storm water design at urban region(like SWD network) we generally prefer tc and for major hydrology study like for the case of cross drainage structure or dyke we generally do SCS lag time. I will recomend you to perform WMS modelling and compare with HEC HMS results
Apart from the great explanation, I love the visual and musical drama of these tutorials! "Please be quiet!"

Sorry, I do not know :)

Ah I found it. It is "Folmar et al., 2007" thank you anyways

@@JALAJDARPAN thanks a lot
