Ya reckon? I don't thing the Mustang was a turd. But you do have to give it to Ford Australia for being able to go out on a limb with a lot of their shapes. The Ford Capri V6 was an instant hit, so was the Lotus Cortina and they went on in England. Around the late 60's it looks like all three continents went their separate ways and some produced some truly unique cars, 'all by their lonesome', some are still wanted today.
My neighbour had one of these when I was 7, so 40 years ago. Looking back he had it going on, had this car, his wife was hot, 13 year old daughter was off the charts 😂 was good fun getting driven around Campbelltown in it.
You still see these around every so often. and not with Historic number plates. They are probably replicas, but still an impressive package, even for today.
40 years ago I was working at kaikohe and that was one of the few times i saw one on the rod until i went to work in OZ where I have seen a handful in car shows etc. Was this the car from Kaikohe? The other falcon special build was the Goss Special, even rarer.
I had forgotten that Biante released a set of 300 cars with its own set of certificates for the New Zealand market. The regular release certificate shows 7860.
Shamefull showing a Cobra with WRONG repro seat covers, missing fr spoiler, wrong Wheels, and all wrong under the bonnet. REAL ORIGINALS exist did u know! I’m the proud owner of one from NEW!
As he mentioned, all of which can be fitted again when needed. Have to remember that some people just like different things. The owner is free to run their car how they like it. I'm sure once they're done having fun with it they'll return it to it's original setup. If anything, it's better they run it how it is now so that they can preserve as much of the original parts as possible. Once it's sitting around not being driven, they'll be thanking themself for swapping out several parts
They didn't have a top loader gearbox, Ford stopped production of the toploader in 1973, They had a Borg Warner single rail. Which the XC Fairmont GXL also had.
You AUSSIES always got the sweetest looking body lines looking Ford ever made.We in the US got the turds.Sweet car man.

Is that Lou from neighbors
They would have been a lot more collectable if they all had a 351 toploader and 9 inch
And actually PERFORMED
And they were unfortunately low on power due to the smog gear fitted.
I've just clicked 'like' as Number 121
I was 127
@@regandunn4850 it was the number of the car
❤

Ford was not a very good company in 1978. It is Totally Sad they didn't produce these in Australia & in America.

Big, heavy, under powered, unreliable, overrated… yet such an icon. What am I missing..?
