I tried wobbling for pike once after watching John Wilsons pike episode in the 80's I think it was. I wobbled right off the bloody dam wall into the water.

Sad loss . John Wilson did much good for country matters and angling . Our rivers are coming alive thanks to anglers .

He certainly did. There are several YT channels featuring people fishing in London's docks, canals and Thames feeder rivers. Quite a contrast to piking on the Broads in winter but the big plus is the fish are now there and thriving.

Wobbling a dead bait is a very productive method, I put an oval piece of lead folded above the trace , this will stop the line twisting problem you get with wobbling 😂 and taking Whiskey fishing doesn’t help either!😂

Dick Walker et al said that in order to catch decent sized fish you need to: find them (location), don't scare them, fish at the right time, with the right tackle and with the right bait. A lot of people have made fishing seem far more complicated that it really is, and made a lot of money in the process.

I'll always remember watching the first John Wilson goes fishing programme. There'd been nothing on TV since the lovely Jack Hargreaves. John started it all didn't he. His first series spawned (pun intended) all the videos and DVDs etc that have come since.
A Legend yes, but I always thought if there'd ever been a real Mr Crabtree he'd have been John Wilson.
    Tight lines John...
