Cottonmouth’s character was so well developed that it makes me upset Marvel refuses to bring us more stories like this. Truly one of the most sympathetic villains with an incredible acting performance and Marvel decides to go with The Marvels and Agatha All Along instead
I'm starting to think he and a few others were vampires the whole time. They just needed to get out of there. And I would get mad and throw a SELF HATING dude out of the window too if I got beaten down by some sort of system like that.
Seeing Mahershala being able to deliver on this type of role makes me more excited that he’s playing Blade! I know the characters are different obviously but man Mahershala can act his ass off!
Mahershala has such a commanding on screen presence in whatever he does, but damn his brief stint as cottonmouth was the definition of cool. I can't wait to see him as blade but man i miss him as cottonmouth
As soon as he died I lost interest in the whole series tbh the way they wrote him off was so bad and Luke’s plot just become so much worse into season 2
This show was close to daredevil in level of quality when he was the main villain. When Mariah took over, it went from an 8/10to a 5/10. It’s not enough to make a villain just hateable. We have to kinda get them. Kinda like them in a way. Ali brought that to cottonmouth. I would have liked to see him in the villain role longer. Almost as a representation of what pulls Luke into the dark. A foil for Luke for us to watch and feel for.
I really enjoyed his role as Cottonmouth. It's one of the things I think about when I talk about great acting. He also inspired one of the D&D characters I created, which is a player favorite. Thank you Mahershala Ali for the performance and inspiration.
Excellent. Bravo. A character that had so much potential and outstanding acting from Mr Ali. Perhaps depending on how Blade works out, maybe they can bring cottonmouth back in some kind of way
Such as sensational character Cottonmouth was with such a tragic death. IDK what the writer was thinking ending his life like that🤣 Unrealistic and shamefull to say at the least. Hopefully he can be brought back in some spin-off series!
He should *NOT* have been “Replaced” by his Bods Diamondback. He should have stuck around while Diamondback came into the picture. We didn’t even get a single interaction between both characters. Which sucked.
all the things he did was unforgettable but deep down inside he was forced to walk down a dark path he never wanted and for that it caused him his life
Season 2 had Bushmaster... I thought he was excellent. Diamondback was dumb. But get past that and I thought the rest of the series (e g. S2) was very, very good.
I almost completely lost interest in this show when they killed him off so his sister could take his place as the main villain. Show could have been so much better.
Diamondback was a good villain not great but good villain however, cottonmouth just stole the spotlight for me, with diamondback his only goal was killing luke and nothing else. While cottonmouth wanted what Fisk wanted as well, power. Marshela Ali’s acting was just off the charts. He was just menacing, intimidating and unsettling. I never felt that same feeling from diamondbacks prescences at all
Okay, I want to see how they're going to explain this in the Blade movie, since the villain Cornell Cottonmouth and Blade from the MCU are both played by an actor lol. 😂 It doesn't make sense to have two MCU characters with the same face as the actor, Mahershala Ali. One is the Luke Cage villain, and the other is Blade the vampire hunter lol. 🤣
Question who does Luke Cage fight in the comics. Why do they have Luke Cage going up against cotton mouth he's a captain america villain and is a member of the serpent society.
They added Diamondback because he was a threat to Luke. Cottonmouth was a menacing and dangerous villain but he wasn’t a threat to Luke at all, Luke could’ve crushed him and all of his men like bugs if he wanted to.
@@H.K.5Well said. Even when watching, I was wondering how they were gonna keep him around as the big bad for another 6/7 episodes. The character and the performance was amazing but if there's no real threat to Luke then it would have made for a dull season

This dude had potential to be on the level of Fisk and Kilgrave. The ONLY problem was his time was cut short. Shame.
I think he's better. Even though he didn't accomplish as much as them and had way less time, his swagger and realistic concepts are enough.
