    good mix of feedback provided. We have 2 Subies in our family (2010 Forester - Manual, 2016 WRX - Manual). I used to have a 2016 Crosstrek and it was CVT. I wasn't a fan of the delay on acceleration. That really bothered me. The bluetooth issue is really a common complaint with these as well. Thanks for sharing.

      The CVT just takes some getting used to. Ive had a Legacy and an Outback with CVT, they work better if you gradually build up the speed then when matched with engine they can fly after that. Toyota ECVT is the best, shame Subaru cant use that.

    My 2019 white Impreza Touring 5-dr hatch is DEAD quiet. Super quiet. And fun to drive. Quick. Reliable to date and amazing in the snow

    Thanks for your thoughts! Yeah Subarus are Very noisy inside, specialy over 60 mph. But you can try to change those wheel bearings. My 13’ Impreza had 80k miles when i bought it and it was a lil noisy inside. I changed the bearings and it was a lot quiter then. Now i can talk normally on speaker-phone etc.

      I have a 2015 Impreza in the UK. Has 31000 miles on the clock, 1 previous owner and full history. Its quiet and relaxing inside at motorway speeds. Not sure why you think they are noisy. No wind noise, very little road noise and the engine just whirs away under the bonnet. Great car.

    I love my 2021 Impreza. Only thing I don’t like is the low ground clearance. I was scraping on snow and ice. Solved that by getting a 1” lift kit and bigger tires. Got 2” more than stock now.
    I also don’t see the issue with CVTs. Haven’t found anything I dislike about it.

    CVT ? They're fine. Just don't stress the car. Its really relaxing to drive.

      I had an Outback with CVT and I loved it. The thing with CVTs is you dont get the best out of them if you floor it. Starting off, build up the speed slowly then gradually increase pressure on the accelerator until the transmission and engine become matched and then they start to fly.

    Engine braking does not consume more fuel. It actually uses less fuel than regular braking would. The engine does not consume any fuel when going down a hill if the throttle is closed

    • @KurtofTrades
      @KurtofTrades  Рік тому +1

      I more meant having to brake in some way, when I go down small hills o don’t want the engine to slow me down at all I want to use the gain in speed I get so I don’t have to accelerate more. For mountains it doesn’t matter since they are too big to coast all the way down you would go waaaay to fast,

    It's funny how Subaru took the first Gen impreza and rebranded as a lifted crosstrek. The same 148hp engine until 2020.

    • @oddities-whatnot
      @oddities-whatnot Рік тому +1

      I have a 2015 Impreza 5 speed in the UK. I have had it a year, love it. Solid reliable workhorse. Low miles so hope to keep it a long time. I get about 45mpg on a run, cant argue with that. The point is, I could get a new Toyota Hybrid to save on fuel but then the car would cost me twice as much to buy so I wouldn't save anything. The car should physically last me many years, I like a lot of cars out there but you waste your money keep changing them. I always think its best to get one good car that suits you, and just keep it.

    • @KurtofTrades
      @KurtofTrades  Рік тому +1

      No sport mode. There is a manual mode for the cvt and if you don’t shift it shifts on it’s own and it’s pretty aggressive. It’s definitely not fast but I don’t think it’s slow either. I mean it’s only got 150 hp. It handles well

    • @KurtofTrades
      @KurtofTrades  Рік тому +1

      Yes it’s fairly common, a lot of them were fixed under warranty. Mine burns about a quart every 2000 miles which isn’t too bad. Most are around a quart every 3500-5000.

      How's the car going ...

    • @rektyrektingson4668
      @rektyrektingson4668 5 місяців тому +1

      @@sunsetlights100 hey there! The Impreza has been treating me well but I also take good care of it. I've put on 10k miles in the 8 months of owning it. Definitely replacing the oil around every 5k miles. Keeping an eye on the tire pressure every so often, esp when it gets hella cold suddenly here on the east coast. Also keeping an eye out for the cabin air filter.
      I'm not a car dude by any means but have learned to at least be aware of things that I can control and can maintain myself. I also don't speed like crazy lol. There was definitely a moment where I truly believe that the AWD saved my life from a sketchy rough road when I was turning. So big ups to Subaru for that one lol.
      My only problem with it is that my AC kinda sucks sometimes, especially in the heat. I've done research and had it checked up by a friend and it's the belt that is the issue. I luckily don't mind having windows open but summer blows without good AC. Heater works fine though. I'm planning on fixing that in the next few months with summer coming up. The middle console screen freezes on the first song when I connect to Bluetooth. A lil annoying but nothing game changing. A firmware update can fix that, a dealership was asking 500 bucks but I decided to try to do that myself but haven't gotten around to it just yet.
      These are the only two problems I have with it and it honestly could be so much worse. (They're also sort of common for older subarus when I looked it up online).
      My cousin has a newer model and its great. If you haven't pulled the trigger and if this is on your list or something of cars to get, definitely not a bad starter car.
      P.S. the paddle shifters are really fun if you know how to work them and can honestly save your break pads even if it's just by a little bit every time
