OMFG that might be your best video ever. The background story of the island is sombre but your adventure with Erin was a revelation. More of you as a duo please. 💖
Our aunties used to soak the shells in urine to take the top coat off to see the markings and made them shiny 🐚 we used to camp at the bay when i was a kid, and my mum and i would find huge diamonds. They weren't worth any money back then. Nice trip down memory lane 💎
My family had a holiday in Flinders Island in 1972 and I remember how as a child, twelve yrs old, I was mortified by the shameful history of how Aboriginal people had been treated there and could feel the pain still etched on the land of their peoples' torturous treatment. A trip by a supply ship to Cape Barron Island took us to the mutton-birding community which was run by the remaining aboriginal people who were of mixed ancestry with British whalers & sealers. We also visited Kilikrankie mining area and found crystals. I was recalling these memories to someone just the other day....Thanks for this vid, Erin & Rob.
I'm glad I finally got the time to put this one together as it feels like a long time ago, hehe yeah I can't wait to take the little man on some adventures.
You my friend are overdue for the credit you rightfully deserve... As a fellow 🇦🇺, i am incredibly proud of your work, your a national treasure... Thankyou Rob. 👍
Another epic tale and was nice to see your lovely Erin getting some of these shells, I have had Marina shells for years and are amazed by their beauty. Flinders and King Island have such clear and clean air and their nature is truly beautiful. Once again you never fail to give us perfection.
What a cool trip bro Erin’s a legend the place is stunning some of its history is utterly tragic and it’s treasure very special ,beautiful vid curly cheers
I was just in a opal and gold episode rabbit hole and started thinking about you. I hadn't seen any videos from you lately and realized I don't have my notification Bell on. It's all sorted out now and I won't miss another episode. 👍
Yet another great video Rob. Good to see Erin participating with you this time. Considering I lived in Tassie for 12 years, I had never really known a lot about Flinders Island. I knew where it was situated but nothing regarding it's sordid past. A very educational tour of the island, thanks mate.
Always wanted to go to Flinders Island. Lovely journey with Erin and yourself. So pleased you found the shells and diamonds. A must do for me. Nice abnb to have come across.
What an adventure. Thank you for taking us along. Well done on the presentation. I could feel the determination near the end! Glad you got your diamond. Hope to see what you make out of it.
Well done mate, your research and description of the places you go is great. I really felt the shame of our early chapters in the way we decimated the aboriginal culture, you highlighted this in your introduction, very well articulated and delivered with compassion. Great video too boot.
Love to watch this, i live in Norway and we have alot of beautiful nature but nothing like this, need to visit one day, have a good day and keep the amazing content coming 🌞
Absolutely stunning! Was over there not long ago, we had a poke around for the diamonds but had no luck! Such a magic place and I highly recommend everyone go check it out! Thanks Rob ❤
Watched and enjoyed. Outdoors and real-life living is weirdly interesting to me, well not outdoor stuff, camping etc. is fun to see. Loved it when Erin didn't feel like going one time.
Erin got it right .. a shower beats any diamond .... honestly a decent bed and shower ... well what diamond in the wild can match that .... LOL wink , cant believe some folks kayak from mainland Oz to Tassy via this island ... nuts but super cool !!
Rob your videos really are fantastic. Especially the history side of things and the research you put into it. As a Victorian who has spent his life on the coastline I have always been intriqued by the islands out there yonder over the blue in bass strait. Thanks for taking me on an adventure to one of those islands.
Loved this!! What a beautiful place!!! You were determined to find a killiecrankie diamond, paid off!!! What are the plans for it? Just want to keep one or will you make it into something?
Thanks for another great video.🏆 It reminded me of when my wife and I looked for Topaz at O'Briens creek campground, Queensland. We spent ages digging and sieving and after going to the hardest to reach spot I found a big smooth lump like the one you found, I think it was 64 carats. Anyway, I had it faceted and mounted, and my wife wears it on a gold chain. It looks like a massive diamond!! Reckon you should do the same 😉 Cheers ....
I was lucky enough to be part of the redevelopment at the Flinders island multi-purpose centre and spend a number of weeks on the island over the space of a year. The locals where fantastic, but it really was like going back in time 😂 Absolute beautiful part of Tasmania.
Its refreshing to see actual quality content on youtube.
What an adventure, thank you.
Ernie stole the show.
beautiful place thank you for share your adventure with us

Look at that!
Oohh... * drops it immediately 😂

Wow thanks so much! It’s certainly something different to what I’m used to, glad you enjoyed it. 😃
@@Rob.Parsons I imagine it must also feel safe with Erin on standbye with the baked beans and tofu. 😃

I've done most those things more recently, and I agree. These things that happened at Emita and surrounds were horrifying, should NEVER have happened.
Thanks so much, another terrific adventure 👏👏
I remember your call-out for help, nice to see you finally made a vid out of your trip! Next time you go back you’ll be a party of three (or more)!
I'm glad I finally got the time to put this one together as it feels like a long time ago, hehe yeah I can't wait to take the little man on some adventures.
