- The Twisters make a commercial spot for the World famous K Mart Cafeteria. A classroom project for 1992 at Temple City High School. Original music by Darryl Giors (drums) and John Giors (keyboard) with vocal performances by Joey, Eddie, Paul, Booger and Darryl.
This is such a hidden historic youtube gem. lol.
This KMart is probably long gone but these guys look like they had a good time.

its so surreal, you would swear they specifically made this for other people to see on youtube but no its all the way from 1992. the acting and editing style are ahead of its time
30 years later, and the phrase "don't eat at Subway, we know where that food's been" is still just as relevant.

I worked at the Kmart cafe in Madison Wi. The cafe paid a whole 40c an hour more than reg Kmart employee. It was great because I was in college and was able to eat for free there. The Burgers were actually pretty good!
I worked at K-mart in Beloit, WI during 1977. I Usually went in before the store opened, to help pre-make all those Groovy Ham Sandwiches for the cafe. That seems like a million yrs ago! : )

I always looked forward to eating at the K-Cafe in the '80's and '90's. The one near me actually had pretty darned good food!

Kmart was the place to be! It was where my family and I would go for essentially everything. Back in the 80's, Kmart had clothing, electronics, a pet shop (i.e. goldfish, hamsters), a jewelry corner, an ice cream counter (my favorites being bubble gum, pistachio, and chocolate), a cafeteria (They had the best Salsbury steak with mushroom gravy!), and, of course, my favorite toys around (i.e. G.I. Joe, Transformers, M.A.S.K, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, ThunderCats, and Silverhawks)! Bring Kmart back now! Christmas is here! We need you now!

I miss Kmart cafeteria/Cafe. I ate breakfast in the cafeteria when I was 9 (early 90’s, pre-renovated store) with Santa for a shopping spree.
I'm not sure how this video made its way into my suggested video feed but it was funny in a really horribly, cheesy kinda way and brought back some memories of the 1990's. The Kmart we had near my home had some awesome food in the K-Cafe, loved their fresh fries and the grilled chicken sandwich with tomato and mayo was the best. I also recall lazy customers leaving those ICE-E cups on shelves everywhere throughout the store when I was a kid and then trying to convince my mom to buy me one but she never would. I'm still a bit mad that I couldn't go to the K-Cafe as an adult and order one to sip on while I shopped because they closed all the K-Cafe's many years before any of the actual stores closed around here.

The K Cafe was Awesome My Mom would always take me to K Mart after School to play at the Electronic Section at K Mart and then to Eat at the K Cafe back in the 90s those were the Days.

I am born and raised in Los Angeles and now in my 40s. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF *Temple City, California* before IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. Not in a local news report, not in the L.A. Times, not in conversation, not seeing it on a freeway sign -- nothing! I had to Google search it to find that it's near Arcadia and located in the San Gabriel Valley. THAT IS WILD. The Southland is really its own world. There are all these small cities 40-50 minutes from where I grew up just like this that I never knew existed.

I have literally never seen one with a cafe in all my life, so I assume they must have died in the mid 90's at least

I had a KMart but I don't know if they had a cafe. They had an area to eat, though, but that was the Little Caesars they had there.
Enjoy Target's kafe while it lasts. Target is pretty much the closest we have to KMart now, but honestly Target is better if you don't account for nostalgia.

As I recall, the food was at least decent for the price. Our main reason for going there was...because no one else at our high school did. So why the hell not?

I worked at a Kcafe/Little Cæsars. I can see why they’re gone now. Even the water heater wanted out, so it drowned itself.
These young fellows were legends. I was in junior high in '92 haha
I ate at Kmart a few times a kid. I still remember a woman with light beard working there
I'm 47, and that was always a treat for getting dragged to Kmart. The bacon cheeseburger and fries were on par with back in the day Wendy's, which I put slightly above contemporary Wendy's. Maybe it's those old tables 🤔
As a kid in the 80s first thing when we got to KMart was ride the electric kids toy out front for a quarter. Then mom would shop then the glorious KMart cafeteria it had 70s wood paneling all over it was so retro I would get the BLT so damn good and a icee those were the days🤘

I was obsessed with that cursed Kmart diner as a kid lol, I remember always asking for the chicken strips and an icee, except the lady who always worked there would undercook the chicken half the time and my mom would have to tell her to cook it longer 😭 I'm sad that I will never have that experience again, things were so much simpler back then

Why did I look this up
I have fond memories of hanging out with my older brothers in the Little Ceasars inside the K-Mart near where we lived.
Got a collectible Marvel Action Hour cup from there with Dr. Doom fighting members of the Fantastic Four and Avengers on it.
I lost the cup at some point through the years, but looked it up on eBay and someone was selling the complete set in great condition for a really decent price so I bought it.
There was a Wal-Mart right across the street from the K-Mart and my brothers and I would hang out in them all day, passing between them.
There were arcades in both of them like Street Fighter 2, Dark Stalkers and I think one of those Neo Geo machines with multiple games in it.
You could play whatever Nintendo games were being featured in the kiosks for limited periods of time.
In the toy sections, they had comic book spinner racks and we'd read some and each of us would buy one.
If we didn't eat at the Little Ceasars inside the K-Mart, we'd hit the McDonald's in the Wal-Mart or the Godfather's Pizza in the same shopping center as the K-Mart.
When it was time to head home, we'd hit the Food 4 Less in the K-Mart shopping center and grab three liter bottles of Shasta soda and huge boxes of cinnamon rolls from the bakery.
I miss those carefree times of closeness with my older brothers. We're all in our 40s now, me at 40, my older brother at 46 and our eldest brother at 49. Life felt so much more solid and brighter then.
Sometimes things seem so unreal now, like circumstances in a TV show happening to someone else. But, at least we still have our memories of how things used to be.

I remember eating at Coles here in Australia back in the late 80s when they still had a cafeteria section. It was cheap and awesome.

Anyone remember the fried taco/burrito things they sold on the way out (mid to late 1980s?) They would also do a bag of like 6 ham sandwiches and give all the fixins on the side. This wasn't the restaurant in the back, but the front deli thing on the way out.

Ones i remember had lettuce on em .. sometimes a slice of cheese and sometimes a slice of onion .. and im thinking that the ham sandwich sitting in that for awhile ..the lettuce and stuffed released some type of flavor ~

The K-Mart in my town used to have a very old school diner type cafeteria with the classic booths and tables. They got rid of it quite a few years back to make room for more merchandise.
Mason Becker yeah that would of been the Kmart cafeteria it wasn't like this video cause Kmart cafeterias were more of a sit down order restaurant this video it shows them going to a Kmart cafe or k cafe which isn't the same

On a sincere note, how did you edit this back in the day? Did you record the video footage and tune separate, then hook a cassette player to a vcr to dub over the footage?
Back then you needed a VCR with a flying erase head. That way when you made an edit it didn't leave rainbows and garbage. I'm pretty sure in this case the video edits went from tape in the camera to such a VCR. The song was recorded on a little Tascam 4-track cassette. Mixed to a standard cassette tape and then dubbed to the VCR.
The music you hear here is a remaster from the 4 stem tracks edited in a DAW. Nothing fancy but it retains the fidelity of the recording better than what we pulled off the original video tape.
