- There is more crochet on TV & in movies than you think. I randomly see crochet while watching my favorite shows & had the great idea to make it into a video. If you've seen crochet on one of your favorite shows, please let me know. We can make a part 3 of this video.

It’s a Bavarian stitch (Breaking Bad) The afghan on the couch (Midnight Mass) looks like it the Basket Weave stitch.

The last couple or so seasons of Gilmore Girls had fabulous knit and crochet scarves on everyone. The last season of Roswell, New Mexico had a bunch of crocheted sweaters, blankets, etc. Also, Pheobe Halliwell of the original Charmed series wore many crocheted garments as well. Even last fall, Wednesday (the TV show) had crocheters in an absolute tizzy between snoods and checkered vests!
So fun! Love that our craft is not just an old granny craft!

I'm the one who pointed out the Midnight Mass episode. If you like spooky things, and it's the season for it, Midnight Mass is excellent. Even though some aspects of the show were spoiled for me going in, it still managed to subvert my expectations. That's all I can say. 🙂
I believe the Breaking Bad blanket #1 is The Cathrine Wheel stitch.
In season 1 of Fuller House on Netflix Kimmy Gibbler is almost always wearing some kind of crochet food scarf that seems Twinkie Chan inspired. There's bacon and eggs and cupcakes and others. Season 1 Episode 2 at 3:43 (bacon and eggs scarf) and Episode 11 at 4:02 (cupcake scarf)
Gilmore Girls episode season 7 episode 16, during the baby Shower, Lane's blanket is crocheted with roses. 31:34 and 34:50

the blanket in midnight mass reminds me of a c2c-Crochet blanket, but its really hard to tell by that frame. It looks like the reflections of the light don't match with c2c, but i guess you could make a very similar blanket with this technique

The shawl in Moesha looks like adaptation of the virus shawl.
Midnight mass could either be a corner to corner or again adaptation of some celtic cable.

Several years ago - I inherited a bunch of pre-made granny squares and found a creator that made a coat from tham and I tried and got frustrated and made a cocoon and gave it away. Now I wish I had it so I could try again. However, my tune has changed and now I'm sitting here making squares with solomon's/spider knots for a boho dress I found on Pintrest to make for the summer... And, I love the join as I go - I guess I'm getting older and truly want to take my time and do something that annoyed me and make it creative...
These videos are so fun! I hope you keep them going. I'll do my best to pay attention to shows I'm watching atm.

The sitcom Young Sheldon has crocheted afghans on the couch at his parents and grandmothers house. His mother sometimes crochets on the show
There is even a crochet magazine in the bathroom! If anyone know what stitch is used for the blanket on the fathers chair in the livingroom, please let me know, my sister is in love with that one! I would like to make her one.
Season 4 episode 12. They start talking about crochet in the collage lab. Around 5 and a half minutes in.
One small pet peeve in shows or films is crochet being mistaken for knitting, in call the midwife, season 2, ep 8, 20.50 mins, they're knitting and measuring against crochet squares. These are the squares used for the blanket in the next ep yet you never see them again. 😀

Fun seeing all the crochet items. As for granny squares, why not just join as you go? This way when you’re finished with the last granny, your project is complete. I too hated joining grannies, but this method changed my life. Cheers from FL😺
One hundred percent agree. I don't mind the joining process, necessarily, but I hate that afterward you have a plethora of yarn ends to weave in. 😖
@@linphillips8331 I feel your pain😂 I definitely hate weaving in the ends too. I try whenever possible to crochet over the tails to avoid having to weave them in. This way the only end I need to weave in is the one I use to join the two squares together. The less ends the better. Cheers!😺

Ok, I don’t remember any TV ones offhand, but there are a couple of movie scenes I can remember!
First one is Stranger Than Fiction, at 1:05:56, pretty rose blanket on the couch.
Second one is Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, there’s two of them.
The cleaning lady’s pink crochet jacket at 5:53 and Keira Knightley‘s granny square throw blanket at 17:55 and other times.

No one has mentioned Fuller House and Kimmy Gibbler's awesome scarf wardrobe? She's had a salad scarf, a bacon and eggs scarf, a sushi scarf, a cupcake scarf! They were all designed and made by Twinkie Chan.
The one blanket looks like a harlequin blanket. I have a baby blanket that I made with that stitch.

There are some incredible crochet tops and dresses in Netflix's show 3%. They are unlike anything I have ever seen before. I think they are in season 2 or even later seasons. But they blew my mind a little.
There is also a really cool ribbed hooded shawl/shirt/scarf in the new Willow show on Disney+, I think it appears starting in episode 2 and into episode 3 so far.
BBC call the midwife, lots of gorgeous crochet throughout the series. One main scene in season 2, ep 9, 44.33 mins, everyone joining squares for an afghan, 46.05 for the finished blanket
A, there are patterns w "join as you go" techniques where you join a granny to the others as you crochet the project. It's the only kind of motif patterns I will do!
You should watch Midnight Mass. It's super good.

I am totally the same about hating to sew granny squares together, but love making them. I made a bag out of hexagon shapes once. Hated putting it together, but loved making the hexagons.

Stranger Things has a whole bunch of them. S1:E5 43:47 blanket, S1:E6 39:56 Granny Square pillow. Handmaid’s Tale S5:E8 -1.48, Umbrella Academy S2:E4 39.33, blanket are some of them I’ve seen.

The older TV show Charmed has lots of crocheted items sprinkled through out the seasons. Here are a few I have noted so far. Season 2, episode 3, a crocheted green head scarf towards the end. S3, episode 12, a poncho and hat close to the beginning of episode. S2, E12, a crocheted halter top. Also S3, E13, a winter slouchy hat and a crocheted top with crocheted flowers.

Honestly I love doing this in real life. My friends and I have made an effort to find anything crocheted in thrift stores or in pictures just to ID the stitch
I don't have a time stamp, but there is a crochet mermaid in the movie Miracles from Heaven that I couldn't keep my eyes off.

I'm loving that you're continuing these videos! I think the stitch used on the pink poncho worn by Shar Jackson in the 3rd scene is the virus stitch.
I was watching the live action Dudley Do Right with Brendan Fraser with my kids the other day, and the very last scene in the movie where they are showing the fixed up cabin has an afghan across the bed. 01:16 into the film.
That's an hour and sixteen minutes, BTW.
At least I think it's an afghan... Watched again and couldn't see any clear stitches, but the holey nature looked like crochet.

Midnight Mass is a great show. First episode is kind of slow but it gets REALLY good.
I suggested James Bond. 😄 I don't care too much about the movies but my boyfriend wanted to watch the newest one. Dou-Dou (the bunny, the word is a French term for something like a security blanket or teddy) had me hooked for the whole movie. 😆 I want to make an amigurumi James Bond doll holding a mini Dou-Dou. The doll has two eyes with green fringe and a pink nose. It is kind of "ugly" but I love it.

You need to find a project partner; you make the squares (since you can do a 1000); and your partner is ok sewing or crocheting them together. 😊🤓👍

I have a pic on my phone but can't figure out how to post it here. Julie Chen host of Big Brother wore a red crochet dress on last year's season. Just recently this past Monday a woman on Bachelor in Paradise wore a long granny squared crochet dress. I found a tutorial of how to make it on youtube. It's my goal to make that dress. It's beautiful.

At approx 9:10 it might be a slanted shell but not sure.

True fact - There's a dog breed called a Russian Bolonka.
The question is whether the rear end of this breed is known as a Bolonka-donk.
Also passing this along - There's a type of what I would call sport weight paracord that glows in the dark. It's sold in either small balls or giant spools and is comprised of plastic with the glow substance. When exposed to strong light, it can glow green for hours. In normal light it glows more faintly and only lasts 90 minutes or so.
I've worked with this stuff and made the mistake of buying the smaller balls. Joining this stuff involves a lighter to melt the plastic together, so kind of a pita, but I made a very cool lace doily out of it and gave it away to a neighbor last Christmas. She adores the thing and keeps it in her bathroom to illuminate those annoying middle-of-the-night journeys without having to squint when the overhead is turned on.
