You boys over in Ireland have it so good! Guinness as they say does not travel, here in Scotland I've never had a pint of Guinness that was as good as I had in Ireland. I couldn't believe how good the pints were in Ireland it was absolutely unbelievable. I can't drink it over here anymore.. Im gonna re-trace your steps of the best pints on this channel. You should create a pub crawl map
I'll be honest, in addition to the brilliant reviews that make me salivate for a good pint of Guinness, I partly watch these videos also for the manscaped ads as they're absolutely hilarious.
10 year vet of hospo. what makes a good pint of the black stuff depends on a number of things. as said in the vid yes the draw length can be important and the cleanliness of the line also sitting to long out side the keg and outside the insulation of the 'python' - [large black insulation cover for the individual lines from the keg room] can mess with the texture. the other factors 'the stick' as he calls it comes from how well the glass has been cleaned. creamy head just comes from keeping the pourer at the tap regularly cleaned. Probably the most important thing is that your kegs are given time to cool in the keg room before tapping up to the line, we call it rotating your kegs. bubbles on top can happen on a busy knight, shouldn't be taken as a bad pint of the stuff, just not as astatically appealing
Don't forget a proper air mixture nitrogen 75% CO2 25%. Yes, proper temperature, 39 degrees, and clean lines. Making sure no leaks in lines. Letting keg settle for 72 hours before setting up. 😊❤
Had the pleasure of sippin' a pint at Gravedigger's a couple years ago. Counting down the days to when I can make it back to Ireland and have another go! ☘️
Just been to Dublin today, last time I came was about 4 years ago and I didn’t like Guinness back then. My taste buds have now changed over the years and I love it. So I came for the day today from Sheffield and went to a few of the high recommended pubs and also some not on on here and some unbelievable pints. The best I’ve had! Surprisingly Temple Bar was the worst even though it’s the most. Keep the videos coming 🤙🏻
I live on the Isle of Man so close to Ireland ….I love my Guinness but want to pop over the Irish Sea to Dublin next year and do a tour when all is back to some kind of normality ❤️
the walsh's pint certainly looked the business - best vs the other three, at a guess. seemed to taste pretty good too judging by the reaction. 8.8 v the gravediggers. very strict ( shtrict ?) scoring Guru. keep up the good work, a nation awaits Part 3.
I've been to the gravediggers twice first time sept 21 second time on Monday 7th February 22.The quality of the pint is second to none and if scoring it I'd give it a 9.5 its really that good. On the second visit I had four pints all were of top quality and had very good shtick or lacing as I prefer to call it. Tried to visit walshs and bowes both closed so couldn't compare but will do next time I'm in Dublin.
Is the gravediggers 9.3 based on the pub and/or the pint exclusively? Willing to make the trip but Bowe's is first on my list⚫⚪loving the videos Guru keep them coming 👍🏼
Might be the lighting but it really looks as though you didn't let that pint in Tom Kennedy's fully settle. Be curious to see you reverse the order next time as you were being very nice to Gravediggers after 4 pints ;) Enjoying the videos!
In my opinion his scoring system is just a *fraction* harsh. His 9.2 at the end of part 1 ought to have been a 9.4 or 9.6 if it's faultless. Obviously can't give a '10' as he doesn't know if there's better anywhere in the world! Just think he could go 0.2 or 0.3 higher with scores... 🙂
Found myself in the Gravediggers after an internment in Glasnevin and I was blown away by the authenticity of the place. Incredible pint of Guinness too, I could have happily spent the next few hours in there!
Try downeys on the ballyfermot Road and the mullingar House in chapelizard both 9 out of 10 have to agree walshes in stoney batter is excellent and outside dublin the hatch in ballaigh and the tank both in co cavan
Funny how shtick never seems to be surefire, I thought the same about the pint I had at The Faltering Fullback at the weekend. It was still class, and is still one of the best in London, but didn't have anywhere near as much shtick as I thought it would.
Top drawer stuff again! Keep it up 💪👍🏻Watching here on a beach in Croatia, can't wait to get home for some cream. Seen a pint of Guinness last night, you wouldn't have given it to your worse enemy, the dirt of it, 10 times worse than a can it looked. And it was an Irish lad drinking it, sick man!
Hi Guru just wondering have you ever been to Killrush Co Clare . Worth a visit. Thanks,I'm in Dorrigo, NSW Australia. Dublin born and breed. A good pint in Dorrigo RSL depending on who is pouring. Safe travels.
The last review at Gravediggers confused me. Is the rating based on the contents of the glass or the whole package? He seemed to be influenced by the snug, the setting, the reputation of the place, etc. It visibly had no "shtick" like other pints that have gotten low scores.
I love how Cobblestones has no Television and only live bands! I always deduct a point or two from a pub whenever I see a Television. Unless it’s a sports bar etc obviously!
I've been enjoying these videos lately, and after hearing him refer to Gravediggers a couple of times, I set out to find the review of it to see what all the craic was about. Weirdly enough though, it seems like he's scoring the pint based on the location and the history of the pub as opposed to the quality of the pint. Shtick on it looked well below average (something that he's marked a LOT of pints down for in the past), and he didn't talk about the pint here whatsoever. It didn't look like much on camera, and I don't understand how it's his highest score when the shtick was so poor. Plenty of pubs in Ireland that he's visited have an INCREDIBLE and longstanding history behind them, but this seems to be the only one afforded major "bonus points" simply for the location. That pint in the video (based on his own tough scoring system that he's demonstrated time and time again), was absolutely NOT a 9.3.
@Fagoooooo Ah I'm not saying that the history of the pub doesn't add to the pint. It undoubtedly does. I was just pointing out that in his other videos, he makes a case of pointing out that he's ONLY rating the pint, not the pub - whereas here, he seemed to blur the lines a bit 😅 But glad to hear that the pint itself is up to scratch! 🤙
Ill agree with o sheas i had my first ever pint of guinness there and it was magic. I thought guinness tasted like that everywhere and have been dissapointed since. pure magic
@@monkeyx17 Yep unbelievable pints. Been back twice since. I live in Dublin and took a trip back down in July. Unbelievable pints. He needs to do Kerry that's for sure 👍
Ya was going to say the same . thought sthick on it last time was better..but a guy in the know told me once that why sthick can be on some pints and not others is the chemical residue left on glass After washing..it tends to hold the sthick.
Very biased towards gravediggers there to say the least, was not a great pint at all, if your going to revist and rate the quality of stout that your given on that day then the score can change, just because you got a good pint previously doesn't mean it's going to be the same. Personally for me gravedigger's is quite average.
You can get a great pint one night and the next not so much. It's not the fault of the barmen, there's a number of factors from the pipes being cleaned or a different keg. Even the light in the bar can have an effect on how your taste works, scientifically proven.
I love the black stuff myself and have been in every pub in dublin I agree with Walsh's the diggers the cobblestone and bowes been in the top ten the other six for me would be The Malt james st Breodys Marlborough st Graingers and clearys both Amiens st The Lark inn Meath street The swan Angier st all in of them can take on the diggers . Great addendum; I was a bit shocked that Cleary's, Briody's & The Swan weren't in his top 12. Cleary's is consistently the best pint I've ever had by a significant margin. Visited Dublin in August, the best pint I had was at the Harkin's bar. It's a pity we only stayed for 2 nights. Amazing city, amazing people!
Shoutout to the camerawork and editing, class!
Best pint I've had in my life was in Cobblestone. Glad to see they are still good. Haven't had an 8 in over a year! Cobblestone is getting hit next 👍
Compare the pint with the toilets in the establishment, esp the cobblestone!!

Enjoyed the interview, be good to see more of them from pub owners
Surely there should be a bigger difference between a disappointing pint at 8.4 and a "cracking" pint at 8.5.
He never gives a pint a bad score even if it’s shite, too much bad publicity
It’s the small details 😂😂😂
If you were expecting a 9, 8.4 would be disappointing.
@@EverythingInTheFrame pretty sure he gave Diceys a 2/10
he explained the difference
‘Good fookin gear’ .. another T shirt. Just found these videos a couple months ago preppin for my 1st trip to Ireland for a 10 day pub crawl. Awesome.
Only recently starting drinking Guinness so I'm loving the videos. Shoutout to Cronin's Sheebeen in Westport - cracking pint.
Still no Hut in Phibsboro. I’m shaking my head cause you’re missing out.
You barely spoke of the pint in the grave diggers, did it get scored on reputation or ambiance?
Reputation. Zero schtick which marks a lot of pints down.
I think he was distracted by possibly the owner sitting close to him
6:43 “that is good f***ing gear” I hope he’s talking about the Guinness 😂😂
The production of your videos is very impressive now. They have progressed alot!!!
Monster pint in Walsh’s, nothing but compliments and then 8.8. Surely a 9!

Walsh's pint best of the lot
The Guinness in Walshs is tremendous but nowhere but nowhere can touch the Gravediggers. Their Guinness is unrivaled.
@@Frorackous Grogans would give it a run
If The Gravediggers is the benchmark and it sets the standard.. It's a 10
That’s me in the back in Walshs taking shite with my mate.
A true Guinness, only for the soundest around.
I have never had a guinness but this guy is their best sales person ever

The glenmalore Lodge in Wickow does an outstanding pint 👌beautiful location too!
Couldn't agree more
Lads hit The Hut in Phibsboro, unbelievable pint
Mulligan has it right. A pub without trad is frankly depressing.
Not sure if you're into the Beamish Darragh but Tom Kennedys have the definite best pint of Beamish in Dublin without a doubt

Mate, I've had both. Bowes only last week. Really puts it up to the gravediggers
Haven't done Bowes yet, hitting there the end of the month. Diggers is my local so looking forward to see if it's up there
These videos making me foam at the mouth for a pint this Friday. Very much looking forward to Bowe's Conor thanks for that
Gwan the Diggers!
The stature of the Gravediggers probably does help the score I can’t lie. But anyone will tell you the Guinness there is top class

Last review for gravediggers seemed odd to be fair, no real chat about the pint, definitely didn’t look like over a 9
I noticed that. And what about "I can only judge the pint in front of me"
Pint looked average with zero shtick. Something definitly off!
Have you guys had a pint in the Gravediggers before? If not get on it.

Darkey Kelly's does a great pint. And great food too.
Was wondering why the 'shtick' was important as part of a good Guinness? Haven't heard that term before. Thanks.
Keeleys on the old airport road has an amazing pint.

Rody Bolands Rathmines. Weirdly never seems to get a mention with the Guinness raters. Definitely a chance of making the 8 club.
Great spot
My question is...how or what does a pub do to make the pint different. Same guinness coming from the same factory right??
Any advice for best guinness in killiney? or places to drink/eat? Heading there for couple days next week?
You have to let the pint settle it was still fizzing when you attacked it lol
Dunphys in Dun Laoghaire has s great pint of Guinnes!
Love your videos lad keep them coming👍
Shame about the shtick in Tom Kennedy’s, but as you can see, minimal stick in gravediggers also. Still two of the top dogs of the Guinness game.
Funny how shtick never seems to be surefire, I thought the same about the pint I had at The Faltering Fullback at the weekend. It was still class, and is still one of the best in London, but didn't have anywhere near as much shtick as I thought it would.
Shtick does not a good pint make. It's just one small aspect. The Guinness in the Gravediggers tastes like it's out of this world, I can't explain it.
How glasses are washed will effect the stick... Especially the detergent used
fear maith, love the content, keep up the good work
