    I own a x1140 and the easiest way to shift I have found is stop, shift to neutral, push shifter to the gear you want and lightly pat the accelerator one time. Works for me and no rocking involved. Thanks

      Awesome. Thanks for the suggestion!! And I’m sure after I get some real hours on it , it may loosen up a little.

    Hi, I've had my RTV X1100C for more than 4 years and it has about 3850 hours. I use the diff lock all the time in snow and mud and never had it not release. I haul a lot of firewood and farm related supplies. I don't have a screen on my rear window and haven't broken it. I did get the kubota side mirrors, but I get in tight spots in the woods and broke both of them. Rather than pay a lot to replace them, I bought magnetic mirrors for about $30 per set on Amazon and they work well. I can easily remove them when necessary. I got used to the two hand tailgate latch. When I need it open, I do that before I pick up whatever is going in the back.

    I have the exact machine. The transmission is way better than my old orange 900xt. I opted not to get screen, instead I did the sidekick front bed extension. It raises the front bed wall up and keeps debris from getting down into engine. Unfortunately you can’t use the screen if you do what I did. I added the sidekick bed mat also. I added a 4500lb warn winch. I have also used diff lock, no problem. The one issue I have is you can’t steer while raising and lowering the hydraulic bed (it actually mentions it in the manual). It is the most used piece of equipment on my property. I also added the boss v plow. Looking forward to plowing in warm cab! I also have camo since I can’t stand the way the orange looks!

    • @funnythirty
      @funnythirty  8 місяців тому

      The camo is growing on me. I didn’t think I would like it, but now I do. Was it worth the extra $$ ? Not sure about that, but I think it looks good now that I have it. I want a Boss V-plow, but I wave to wait till it’s in my budget. Luckily we are WAY DOWN on snow this year…

    I have the X1140. The manual states not to use the diff lock with the tires moving. I stopped and engage it and then go. I then stop to disengage it. It has always worked fine with no issues. If you hit the diff lock with the tires spinning you might shear the pin and throw it through the case. I have seen pictures of this. My shifting got much better as I put more hours on the machine.

    I have the same annoyances with my RTV X1140. The tailgate one hand opening i fixed with some paracord I tied to the latch handles. Now, just pull the cord in the middle with one hand.
    Side mirrors are a must, but I also added a rear view camera that i mounted on the canopy to get a clear view behind. That is especially helpful when backing in the woods or working with a trailer.
    I've somehow gotten over the hard-to-shift problem as I don't seem to find it an issue anymore. Either I've developed a technique or it's gotten easier, I'm not sure 🤔
    Thanks for sharing the videos.

    I bought the Sidekick and they have defective Subaru engines that pump gas into the crankcase. Kubota says it's normal and won't warranty them. Do a search before considering one and beware of all the low hour used ones around.

      @funnythirty  8 місяців тому +1

      They had a BRAND NEW Sidekick sitting next to my 1100 when I picked mine up. I was LOOKING HARD at it. Now I’m glad I bought what I did. I heard once before that the Subaru engines may have been problematic

    I just bought one last October and I LOVE it. I have upgraded LED bar lights on the top for front and back that will light up the world and plan on building a ladder rack that breaks just behind the cab so I can still use the dump bed. It's a work horse tough vehicle. If you hate it that much then Bless your heart you need to sell it and move on.

    Welcome to hydrostatic transmissions. I purchased a 2023 Kubota 1100c this summer. This is my first side by side, however I have three Kubota cab tractors (L4310, L3540 and L6060)
    The reduction in speed from the hydrostatic tractors is annoying and even jarring the first time you experience it. High speed and inclines are not handled well with hydrostatic.
    If I came from the side by side world first, and all I knew was gas engines and chain/gears, I can totally see the gripes people have with the RTVx1100c.
    I bought the machine for the strength of its cab and it’s hvac, then because it was a hydrostatic diesel like the other Kubotas in the shed.
    It’s not fast, it’s not light weight, but the RTV1100c has been a good addition to my farm.

    • @funnythirty
      @funnythirty  11 місяців тому

      Absolutely agree 100% !! I want this for its utility , and not for recreational purposes. If that was the case I would’ve bought a gas powered , belt driven model. So although I am complaining about the uphill speeds, you’ll never hear me complain about the strength and longevity of the diesel engine !
      Thanks for your thoughts !!!!

    I have a 2023 rtv x1100c, I'm sitting at 51hrs and 540 miles and love it. The speed does suck and the stock headlights are trash. Also the sticky gear selector is a pain until you get use to taping the accelerator to seat it. I put on aftermarket exterior mirrors ($100 and easy bolt on) and they work but passenger side is sorta a pain as the door frame is so thick it cuts off a big portion of the mirror view. So, yeah, we like to complain about our X1100c because for the money we should have gotten a little more refined machine but it's still awesome, would beat anything else out there at the things it excels at and we'd never give it up.

    i Have one of these and use it in ranch work everyday, I use my 4 wheeler anytime I can because the maintenance on this type of transmission is very expensive and it does not get good fuel economy. I save enough on fuel using the 4 wheeler to pay for it. These engines are good, never any trouble, but the machine falls apart around it. I have several rancher friend that have them and have same complaints. But I put up with it for the heat and AC, would not buy another because of that transmission, seems like it slips all the time and the hyd fluid has to be changed several times a year with my usage and is extremely expensive, and all the HYD filters.

    Piss pore headlight,no Rev light and a wiper that only does 3/4 of the window. Mine was with a good discount
    $27500 Canadain in 2021 same as your orange . I have no complaints about the work sight times in my environment rocky dirt and some mud . It will go till it bottoms out. Mine has 500hrs on it know . After the warranty was done I turned my fuel pump up a little know the AC doesn’t bother it on the hills . When ya first get them for the first 200 hrs till their broke in they lack power quite bad only way better with time

    I really don’t know anything about the Kubota side by side. I do own a Kubota L4701 tractor that I paid off last February. I was always told that the side by side mechanically is just a reconfigured tractor using many of the same parts. What you’re describing as far as the nuisances of the machine seems to make what I’ve been told , true. I too want a working side by side with a dump bed but I’m leaning towards the Kawasaki Mule 1000 with a single bench seat. While it will not be the work horse the Kubota is, it will still easily handle what I’m doing but more versatile. For what it’s worth, I love my Kubota Tractor. I’ve never regretted not buying green. Good luck partner!

    • @funnythirty
      @funnythirty  9 місяців тому

      @davebarnes6672 I’m sure that whatever you decide on, you’ll be happy with. If you plan on putting HUGE HOURS with lots of heavy duty work, I’d would try to sway you towards the Kubota. The diesel engine will not disappoint in those areas. If you are going to use your SxS for recreation, perhaps the Kubota is not for you . I have no regrets buying the machine I bought, but there are ups and downs to everything you buy and price is one that comes to mind when I thought about the Polaris Northstar. As I’ve said in other posts. When you get above $30k. It’s time to start thinking about small pickup trucks instead of decked out SxS.
      Good luck with your choice. I’m sure you’ll make the right one

  • @funnythirty

    Wow. Sounds like you REALLY use this thing a lot !! I know they are little workhorses. And I enjoy it for what it is. Kubota makes a great engine. No arguments there.. for what they cost. You shouldn’t have any issues with the rest of it. They are not cheap and the vehicle should last as long as the engine I’m still taking it easy on mine because it still the shiny new toy and I have had no issues to this point 🤞🏼…. The heat and air are the best parts of this , just wondering g if I should have bought a stripped down Tacoma or Maverick to do what this is doing. And I could’ve registers on the road.

      I guess we all learn to live with these issues. I’m adapting , and they aren’t so annoying anymore… I’d still make the same choice and buy the Kubota. I was at an outdoor sportsman show this weekend and was looking at the Polaris Northstar… even now , I couldn’t bring myself to part with the price tag of that vehicle. They are way up there in “pickup truck” money. They are nice, but not worth the cost.

    I have a Polaris ranger 900xp cab heat
    A can am hd 10 cab heat air
    A kabota rtv x 1120
    Ranger and kabota are used for my biz. Tailgate on kabota is far better than the one handed others. Others are junk plastic and will blow open when loaded with bobcat. That being said that’s the only better part. When I get in my kabota after my ranger I think something is wrong with it. Edit. Power steering is far better on kabota. But it’s a different system

    • @funnythirty
      @funnythirty  8 місяців тому

      I think it all comes down to how you use/what you need your machine for. I’m learning to live with the little issues as I know I can’t change them. The shifting is getting smoother, the tailgate is not so much of an issue as I have learned to live with it. It works hard and doesn’t let me down …. It’s still slow going up hills, but the torque is unreal.. so I’ll take !!

    overbuilt and underpowered, that is the same motto as Honda ATVs, that's why they last forever. What I hate about my 900 RTV is when you take your foot off the gas at any speed it rams to a stop and until. you get used to it it will throw you over the front end. I don't dare let someone drive it who is not used to that. I don't know if its just mine or they all like that. I love that it's as tough as any tractor but yes. annoying. oh and any UTV such as polaris, honda, kawasaki. put 1000 lbs in the back and still fly up the hill. I love that it's a diesel but that's just a preference.

    • @funnythirty
      @funnythirty  9 місяців тому +2

      @rrrrkoop2776. I couldn’t agree more. I doubt I’ll be complaining when it has 3000 hrs on it and it still runs strong. But the engine braking and slow hill speeds, I feel there is no excuse . I have a HST tractor and it doesn’t lose speed going up hills, so why does this ? My dealer says use low range, but that doesn’t solve anything , it just goes slower regardless. I love the HVAC… it’s great in hot and cold weather and rain and snow. I suppose I’ll just deal with it. Like I said in one of my videos, the alternative is a $45k Polaris….. I’ll buy a pickup truck before I spend that money on an RTV.

    never needed to use the Diff lock. All of your issues are well documented all over the internet. Its a Hydrostatic transmission that is how all tractors i have owned operate. My 2018 changes gears just fine if i am on a hill sometimes i just push to gear with a giving it a little gas. I bought mine for the KConnect Snow Blower with that said i am hoping to only buy a new one if they update it. I see no reason they can't put a rocker pedal like a tractor has push with your toe goes foward hit with your heal goes backwards no gear shifting.
