    True Hall effect sticks may not completely eliminate stick drift since everything wears out eventually but at this point we need something more durable than the crap that is in controllers at the moment. I am happy to see some viable options now becoming available. Hopefully we will get options for other pads some time soon. I am looking at you XBOX! Also viable replacements for old pads such as the xbox,xbox 360,PS1,PS2 ,PS3 and any other aging pads would be amazing to see. So many worn out pads that could be resurrected rather than tossed without having to play good part or trash roulette online.

      The plastics of the body and buttons will wear out sooner than the magnetic field for the hall sensors.

      They also work in Xbox One / Series / Elite Pads, they all use 10k pots / hall sensors. And the sticks are available for the PS5 with 2.3k Sensors, too.

    great video, and yeah it is annoying how people think a new set of shocks will keep the old crusty tyres from blowing over potholes. Hall are vastly more reliable due to being contactless, will stop out of the box and not beat up drift; but everything else is still getting mashed up by wear and tear..

I actually ended up melting the original joysticks plastic bits trying to remove it with hot air. Kudos to you for being able to get it off for these hall effect sticks. You need to turn test circularity on & get the Average Error: To about 10.9% or lower with 3x3mm ohms resistance trim pots to reduce menu scrolling skip speed, this is fab stuff as foundational pot tech looks, good find 👍🏼.
    Shrink the circle overshoot enough this could serve Dualsense also on 2K3 Pots with a lower resistance trim pot to equal the required value 😉😜😁🫸🏼🎮🫷🏼🙏🏼🕹️🕹️🎯🎯.

    • @UberMicroRepairs
      @UberMicroRepairs  11 місяців тому +8

      Thanks for the tips! Please don't take this personally (I'm extremely passionate about our repairs) but we do not and will NEVER use trim pots (Stick Drift Fix boards) or resistors. They are a lazy, hack fix IMO and we remove them on all controllers when we find them installed. We get all our sticks to calibrate to within 3% and full 100% range around the clock without any of those methods. We use the Controller tester coupled with DS4-Windows so I get the full raw analog reading not the default Windows calibration that has a default deadzone of 10%.
      Again Trim pots (Stick Drift Fix boards) or resistors anything like that, we will never use as I believe they are a really bad fix and doesn't address the underlying cause of drift (which is the wear / dirt on the carbon track). Having to fix 10 - 15 controllers on top of consoles a day we have a fast, efficent and reliable method that mitigates the carbon track wear. Over the years I've see so many methods, some even including a full blown maths lesson, all amounting to wasted time. Especially as DS4 controllers can now be calibrated and the reading wirtten back to FW.

    • @GOATGamerProSticks
      @GOATGamerProSticks 11 місяців тому

      @@UberMicroRepairs I don't use fix boards either just the raw trim pots from 1M+1M minimum shrink, 1M, 500, 200, 100, 50, 30 & 20+20K max shrink twin & single trim pot combos for best results, it's not efficient but I discovered it all as a fully qualified know nothing using Grey 10.24K primary potentiometer sides 🫣, probably a crime by your standards but I made it work lol.
      I fitted Xbox one elite series 2 sticks in my DS4 🎮 the same way, but with hall sides it could get better results 😉, there not very mechanically tight tolerance the series 2 pots I fitted.
      My soldering skills are that of a child from looking at your speed, but I did painful research 🤷🏼‍♂️.
      I custom built Analog stick tops better than anything out there & that's as far as I got, better than mod sticks & Xbox magnetic sticks & there modular to fit in anything that uses either the screw 🔩 pin of elite series 2 or traditional push fit 4mm plastic pins with 3mm width flats, best thing the markets may never see 🥺...
      I'm sorry if we have already had this conversation? 🤔💭🧐 I can be a broken record 🤷🏼‍♂️.

    the magnets will also lose magnetism over time causing drift or if left near a powerful magnet like a sub woofer for a week would be enough to change the field then you need to recalibrate them. wear and tear and the field even the hall sensor it self can fail. is why im always confused why people believe it can never drift.

    • @UberMicroRepairs
      @UberMicroRepairs  Рік тому +9

      I not sure the magnets would weaken enough. I'd bet wear and tear would happen to the module long before the magnet weakens. They are neodymium . There are Dreamcast and Xbox One controllers using standard ferrite magnets and hall effect sensors that are decades old now. All still work fine. I guess time will tell.

      Jitter thats what happes with these HE analogs. We have another method comming soon. That reduces the jitter and properly calibrates the centre and full range.

    The circularity tho. It will be wonky af in game

    • @UberMicroRepairs
      @UberMicroRepairs  10 місяців тому

      I have since worked out how to sort that. As long as the circularity is out side the 100% in the diaginals it will be fine. Even new out of the box DS5 controllers have wonky results on that test.

    • @yu-yq4ic
      @yu-yq4ic 10 місяців тому

      @UberMicroRepairs it will mean that the diagonal will reach the 100% ingame eariler than normal. Atleast for ps4/5. Its not fine

    • @UberMicroRepairs
      @UberMicroRepairs  10 місяців тому +2

      @@yu-yq4ic Again please ignore what you see in the video with the circularity test . I just made sure it got to 100% at the main 90 degree angles for the purpose of this video! Either way the circularity isn't a "be all and end all test". Aslong as the stick goes outside the 100% range in the diaginals IT'S FINE! Untill you have tested literally every brand of PS4 / 5 and Xbox controller Old new or repaired Broken beat & scarred. You would know circularity is just that websites interpretation of it!! Noting to do with Sony or M$ it just the RAW readings.

      Yea, pc, xbox, and playstation games have different responce from the input. My concerns came from when ive installed off brand potentiometers into ps. It didnt pruduce the exact response of the defult sensor. For ps controller, ideally it should be calibrated to perfectly line up with the circle, atleast for ps

    Is there actually any working difference between the DS4, Dualsense & Xbox one hall effect potentiometers other than the fact they switched around the black & orange side mounts that you know of 🤷🏼‍♂️, or is it one fits all with an attempted segregation between products 😉, switching the L & R colour coding idea 💡 of these sticks 🕹️.
    It looks like they are trying to pull a fast one for product segregation purposes 😂🤣😭, a one fits all option will destroy the scam of the old market & they/them 🫵🏼 know it 😜.

    If you were to do a proper repair you would install the Hall effect driver board to allow proper calibration.

    • @UberMicroRepairs
      @UberMicroRepairs  3 місяці тому +1

      This was recorded before the boards was out, just published afterwards. Look at the rest of my videos to see how it's done. Becides that.. IF I WERE to do aproper repair I wouldn't use the redundant calibration boards on a PS4 controller I'd use the calibration software and do a evenmore proper-er job! 🙃

      @@UberMicroRepairs also their is no software for Sony that will give you a proper calibration. What we use we have a complete 0 deadzone. You must be thinking of the cheap shitty boards that just increase the resistance.
