Use code TechnoAC240 at the Bluetti Store bit.ly/3QbOjWL for $100 off your own AC240!
In this episode I test whether or not a portable battery system can run air conditioning effectively in Houston 90+ degree heat! Thanks to Bluetti for sponsoring this stealth camp!

hahaha wasnt expecting that steve wallis at the end!
His video style was reminding me of steve haha
Steve's build is great for a bicycle but I'd much rather "camp" in the Techno build.
Anyone who watches you knows if nothing else you always eat good and could easily incorporate a cooking video into your channel!
I was thinking the same! Eats well!!
It's a cooking channel with a little bit of camping...
I was thinking I don’t cook that much for 4 people
Time to bug out..again
@@ronaldduck7567 Yeah maybe. And the Livingston Dam north of me is under a failure watch right now 😄
Thank God you're alive!
Van life in Houston would be brutal with heat & humidity.
One of the best channels on UA-cam. Thank you for the content.
I have a 10kW system and a 5k BTU A/C window unit. On eco mode, which primarily just turns off the fan(a 60W+ load) and a longer compressor off period, I can run it for two night cycles, assuming I got enough solar to keep me at 50% during the day. I use a separate 10W PC fan to keep the air circulating while the 60W A/C fan is off.
When I set the A/C to 70 degrees without eco mode, the compressor cycles on for 3 minutes and off for 4 minutes, consuming about 300W per hour(based on outlet meter). Since solar production stops around 6 PM and resumes at 9 AM, that's a 15-hour period, amounting to a total of 4.5 kWh, which is a lot considering i also keep a 250w load at all times.
My plan is to use a programable cycle outlet to turn on the A/C for 3 minutes and off for 10 minutes, paired with the 10W fan. This setup should theoretically reduce power consumption to 120W per hour, as the A/C will effectively run for about 15 minutes per hour, resulting in approximately 2 kWh over a 16-hour period.
August will reveal how comfortable this cycling pattern is overnight.
Stay safe out there and good luck on your journey.
Hell of a system you got there. I'm planning on upgrading mine from a window unit to a mini-split with variable inverter.

It’s not sufficiently comfortable for me personally. My goal is a 30kWh battery bank since 2kW of solar seems enough to float through cloudy days. My problem is overnight, extended cloudy, or winter conditions. I haven't seen thorough testing of mini split/inverter window units beyond people plugging them into the wall and seeing high startup wattage. Them claiming the wattage tapering off once the room stabilizes, but I haven't seen any extended period tests using an outlet meter to measure power usage over an hour or overnight (around 15 hours for me). People also say these units are quieter because they don’t have the compressor clunk. I’ll try a programmable power cycle outlet first before spending $300-$1,000, which I’d rather spend on another 5 kWh bank.
I look forward to seeing your upcoming videos. I watched the one where you had to limit your power usage because you didn't have a battery shunt/meter to track it. It was funny because I was in the same situation for a while. I finally started using the victron smartshunt. My only complaints are that the estimated time feature only shows the time until empty, not the time until full charge, and the Bluetooth connectivity doesn't work on Windows.
update on the power cycle outlet, works in terms of power conserving but keeping me comfortable is a hard no. ill have to check out the inverter ac units now.
Let’s go! My favorite channel. Always learn something new and really wish I had one of your builds.
Good idea about modular add on power with two shore outlets. Try Melinda's Hot Habanero Honey Mustard Pepper Sauce. It is really good.
Hope you didn’t experience heavy damage at your home! I’m getting many ideas from your builds,I like the rear deck area!
Had a couple days without power but no damage luckily.
I hope you are ok! I’ve been worried.
Better than a lot of folks for sure. I consider myself lucky!
Nice video, also funny to see that you too are watching Steve Wallis :D
Man you always have great food...I don't even eat eggs, looks delicious. And wonderful info for stealth living
I wasn't hungry ....then 9:15 showed up!
It would be really cool to see if you could incorporate a 8000 btu mini-split in a stealthy way into your builds
Great video!!
I had a van like that except mine was a GMC , Mine burnt down last Nov , I'm going to buy another one soon.
Do you plan to add a side door and steps ?
I'm trying to learn how to add a side door , main problem is finding a place to buy the door and door frame.
Modular battery addresses non-camping use. Dang, didn’t think about it. That solar system is just sitting in the truck not being used. when you can pull out the bluetti and use it around the house. Could be good for those who dont want to mess with inverters, charge controller.
Or keep the powerplant in the truck, maybe increase capacity, leave it outside and run the whole shop/garage. Its a generator that can drive. This could be long term/advance choice, the system is less compact like the consumer generator but your can swap panel, batteries, inverters.
... or you could simply get more batteries and increase your total stored energy capacity. I think that would be a lot more cost efficient than a bluetti.
Thanks for the great content. I am a new subscriber.
Wow, your food always looks so fresh and delicious! By the way, do you ever make it up to the DFW area?'
im looking at the powerkits by Ecoflow for mine, I looked at the Bluetti but the one con for me was the amount of space the connector cords take up to go from the main unite to the batteries, that at least an extra 1-2' width it would need
I'd probably recommend the rolling units that come with larger capacity so you dont need to use multiple packs
@@TheTechnoBarbarian I looked at the Delt pro model, I think the powerkit at 15kw with eth alternator charge cable is a better fit for my design, it has a smaller footprint
gourmet cooking - you set the bar pretty high brother
@ Techno Barbarian, which Bluetti model is your fav.? Is the Bluetti needed when you have your electrical setup ( in your box truck ) the way it is right now ?
Thanks
Do you know what the dimensions are for your living room area? I'm building a truck similar to yours and it would really help to have a reference!
I have a full 3d design of my build on locals accurate down to an inch or two
Livi'n the life, lol.
how much was the campsite
Did you just put mayo in your fajitas?!
You need a muddy camera man. Perversely short, works on cars
Which chassis and engine is that Ford though?
E450 with v10 triton
@@TheTechnoBarbarian ayo thank you bro! 🙏🏽
