  • This is "Passport Please", or more commonly known as "PASSPORT.MID", created by Passport Designs. This MIDI file is famous for being included in Windows operating systems such as Windows 95 and Windows 98 before the Windows ME days. However, it seems that this MIDI file first appeared in the Tandy Demo Utilities which plays as one of the songs in the Jukebox.
This recording was made using a remastered version of the GS Wavetable Synth soundfont that sound the same as the one included in Windows but sounds more CD-quality like.

I went through a phase of trying to find every rendition of PASSPORT.MID on UA-cam... how did I miss this one??

This sounds the kind of music an rpg would have when giving a lot of exposition, like a tutorial or cutscene

It would be interesting to see oscilloscopes of Strobe's MSGS creations.

Roland SC-55? Way better sound than Microsoft Roland GS Wavetable or even my 1993 model Roland E-36

that square lead looks pretty odd, wonder why the soundfont creators did that

It's still the default Roland soundbank from Microsoft, but allegedly "the samples are replaced with similar but higher quality ones", so that might be why it's weird :D

@@KYLXBN The original soundbank is the Roland SC-55. I have a friend that is currently creating a soundfont using a real SC-55. ;)
