Nice comparison,, for me Nacet & Lord platinum are my favorites .. Nacet is smoother mild sharp first time use but became dull quickly after few days,, while Lord is more sharp durable & sheaper👍🏻
I’ve recently returned to the nacet. Gotta be in my top 3 after revisiting it. Currently also using polsilver, personna blue, astra green, and occasional feather. Nacet def holds its own.
Ooopsadoodle. Well for what ever it’s worth, I figured the Nacet would win. Not a surprise there. PAA actually does make soap samples, but only in 5 of their scents, which is a cop out but whatever. Great shave Matthew!
I would think the splash samples would be a pain to do. I can’t believe I goofed up but my mind said Gillette Gillette and it was over. Hehehehe thanks for watching Ben!
@@lawrence1md Not really. It’s cheaper to make an aftershave sample than a soap sample. It’s all numbers to him. He doesn’t have to worry about shipping overseas due to restrictions either. I cant believe I goofed up in the blade showdown, I looked at the tournament chart and saw Gillette Gillette and picked the wrong ones. Hehehehehe. Thanks for the input and for watching Mike!
Happy birthday to your wife. As was said, use the same soap for each show down, it does eliminate variables. I'm glad you messed up, at least now the Silver Blue gets a chance lol. Great shave though.
This is why it’s so difficult to compare blades (or anything for that matter). Day one, compare blade A vs B and A wins. Day two, compare blade C vs D and C wins. The problem is that A and C move on when blade D may be better than both A and B. This is exactly what happened in this video, the Super Thin may have won against the Nacet previously, however Matthew prefers the Nacet over the Silver Blue. This means the Silver Blue is automatically behind the Super Thin.
@@sheldon3996 this is a good point Sheldon. It should be A vs B, then A vs C and so on. It might make for a extremely long testing process. Thanks for watching!
@@lawrence1md In my professional career (similar to yours and many other wet shavers), myself and other leaders were required to numerically rank our personnel. My department consisted of seven sections, each section ranked its own personnel, and then the number one persons from each section were ranked against each other. A significant problem arose when the documented fitness reports of the top five from each section were compared to the top five from every other section. In one case, the number four ranked person of one section had outperformed the number one persons in the other six sections. This was of significant importance because the rankings had an immediate and direct impact on the careers of those individuals. The end result was a complete change in the ranking process and four people from one section were ranked ahead of all others.
I bought a large blade sampler years ago and Both of these were lousy. Having thick stubble, only these worked for me. Permasharp, Astra SP, Polsilver/Iridium, Personna lab blue. If you use an Open comb, you can get away with a mild blade.
Don't feel bad, I have a bunch of Silver Blues that I've been using for years as well cuz I thought they were my favorites. Haha. Just recently tried the Nacets, Gillette Platinum and Perma-Sharps and I think I like them all a little better than Silver Blues!
I did guess the Nacet would be the winner, it's one of my top blades and works in nearly in all my razors. Woopsy with the wrong blade comparison, never mind we get an extra video comparison. Personally I don't a weekly soap.👍🤠
@@lawrence1md To answer your question: I use a Kill soap on my non-video days (normally 2 shaves/week) and my video days I use an Aussie soap Midweek shave and a non-Aussie on Weekend shave. Sometimes my mind says one thing and my mouth another ...lol
Haha convince ourselves indeed! That made me laugh 😂 You are 100%. Preferences change or we simply try a new razor/blade combo. For me the lord platinum was #1. Then it was the Nacet. Now I can never decide if it’s the perma sharp or 7am platinum that’s my favorite blades. I want to say the perma sharp is my favorite. For me 1st pass is with the grain of my neck but I keep going to my jaw line where it’s ATG. How easily the blade cuts through that under chin and jawline area on that pass as well as the ATG pass is my testing for blade comfort & sharpness. I’ve tried the Gillette minora, nacet, perma sharp, platinum but not the silver blue. The minora was rough to me & the platinum too sharp and irritating. I find the nacet is just a touch more dull then the perma sharp or durablade 7am green box and oddly they are almost half the price most places. It’s so interesting what blades some guys love & I disliked. No 2 faces are the same.
To me, the focus is on the blades, so shave soap is secondary. Actually, using the same soap every time would have been a good idea, then the blade would be the only variable. Very scientific! I’m looking forward to the Silver Blue vrs Wilkinson Sword. I like both those blades
I had thought about the soap and brush staying the same the entire time but decided against it. Your right the blades are what’s suppose to be in the spotlight. Thanks for watching Al!
I thought you had already posted a showdown between the Nacet and the Super Thin. And I was disappointed when my favorite blade, the Nacet, lost. So, this "freebie" showdown made my day 😁 Nacet should be an honorable mention when your showdown tournament ends 🤩I'll be pulling for the Wilkinson Sword (India) blade in your next showdown since it's my #3 favorite blade. As far as soaps go, there are other video channels that review soaps. If you come across a soap that really floats your boat, by all means, share it. I recently ran across a new Nivea liquid shave cream in a pump bottle at Walmart. The $3.47 price was too good to pass up. Turns out that it is one of the best (easy to face lather and residual slickness) shaving soaps I've used. The scent is not very strong but I compensate for that with my aftershave splashes. Sorry to waffle on.
The Nivea cream in the green pump container is nice. Under $5 and it performs great! Somehow my brain skipped over the names except Gillette Gillette. Hehehehe
I’m starting a comparison now between silver blues and nacets now. Tried my first shave with a silver blue today in a Gillette slim razor on setting 3. Wasn’t impressed with it. It didn’t seem that sharp and ended up giving me several irritations. I’ll be trying the nacet later on this week. So far in my test blade shave off, my two best have been the Voskhod and Astra sp….with the Bic in third place. Sharks, personna israeli reds, and Wilkinson sword have all been disappointing and not worth more purchases.
@@lawrence1md hi Matt. Finished my test blade trials. My final three are Nacet, Astra SP, and Voskhod for every day use…and Feather for special occasions. My two razors are the 6C on plate R3, and a Gillette Slim on 3 or 4.
