Scent Profile: A tantalizing mix of Sweet, Bright, and Tangy; Fresh Apples baked into a Buttery, Brown Sugar, Spiced Pecan Filling, this gourmand delight is a sensory celebration. Imagine the aroma of a freshly baked holiday pie wafting through the air, comforting yet energizing, indulgent yet still oddly stoic.
Back by popular demand, and we mean very popular! Atomic Apple Pecan Pie returns as a full collection after making some real waves in last year’s Shavemas Advent Calendar. Fans couldn’t get enough of its intoxicating blend of nostalgia and indulgence, and many were heartbroken when it didn’t make the leap to a full release.
Well, Shave Cadets, you asked, and we listened. This Shavemas Season, we’re giving Atomic Apple Pecan Pie the spotlight it deserves, now available in a complete collection!
It’s going to be tough not to take a bite out of this one, seriously. (But let’s keep it to shaving, shall we cadets?)
Why the Fuss? (A Nostalgic BLAST From the Past.)
I firmly believe Atomic Apple Pecan Pie struck a chord with so many last year because it captures the essence of holiday traditions while feeling utterly fresh and modern. Inspired by the iconic Atomic Age, it’s a tribute to a time when people were looking forward while holding onto some of the comforts of the past still.
Picture this: A well-worn, butter-stained cookbook on your grandmother’s counter. Its pages are bookmarked with handwritten notes, magazine clippings, and stained recipe cards; each one a story. That’s the feeling Atomic Apple Pecan Pie brings to life: warm, rich, and full of olfactory history.
Even the metallic tang of licking the mixer after whipping up a holiday dessert inspired the creation of this scent!
Fun Fact: Why always “Atomic” Doug?
The post-war Atomic Age wasn’t just about science and technology; it was an era of bold, vibrant optimism. People embraced the future with innovative ideas, forward-thinking design, and a touch of pre-space-age whimsy, yet they still cherished the timeless traditions that made the holidays special.
Atomic Apple Pecan Pie captures that duality perfectly: the futuristic energy of the Atomic Age with the warm, buttery comfort of a holiday classic.
An Instant Advent Top Scent: Sci Fi Pie Fans Spoke, We Delivered!
Again, when Atomic Apple Pecan Pie appeared in last year’s Advent Calendar, it was an instant hit. The masses raved about its unique blend of nostalgia and its addictive qualities. Its absence from a full collection left many longing for more, and the feedback was overwhelming: Bring it back! Bring it BACK!
So here it is Shave Cadets, in all its glory, a full-fledged holiday collection of AAPP to elevate your holiday shave routine and bring even more festive, holiday spirit to your shave den.

Great shave Matthew, you make it look so easy! I’ve never seen you cut yourself, which is good, I’m just jealous is all. 😂 Regarding a name, here’s a couple; ML Creations, Pincer-Works, Doberman Shave Works, LSC or Lawrence Shave Creations. Have a good one Matthew!
@@Lahey1579 what is your go to razor? Thanks for brainstorming and watching!
I actually shave with two separate razors. I use a RazoRock Lupo .95 OC for with and across the grain, then I use a Lupo .58 for across/against and against the grain. They’re both Frankenrazors w/4” handles though, I also shave my head with them. Those would be my desert island razors. Additionally, you’re welcome!
@ I haven’t looked at the lupos in a while, I only knew of the solid bar option.
They have all kinds of plates for them now, I’m one of the guys asking them to crank out more, I absolutely love modular things, they’re my favorite! I was also one of the guys asking them for the Gamechanger .76 SB and it’s everything I hoped it would be! The Lupo DC is also a great plate, because you get the .72 OC and .95 SB in one plate! I also love the .72 OC, but the .95 shaves me best. The Lupo 127 is insane, IMO. I owned it, but it was so aggressive, I could only get a decent shave with Derby Premiums in it, even so, I had to be super-careful, so I sold that plate off. The Muhle R41 is a set of hair clippers compared to it. 🤣 I’m a big fan of open-comb heads in general, I believe we’ve sung the praises of the Gamechanger .84 OC together before, too. I also love my PAA 316SS Ascension as well. Those are my top 3 favorite razors.
Have you tried other Supermax blades? I tried Supermax platinum plus blade and really liked it but found out it has been discontinued so I am looking for another similar Supermax blade to buy 100. Cheers!
@@Grotto666 I haven’t tried that one. You might find someone in the shave groups that could help you with a similar replacement. Good luck and thanks for watching!
@lawrence1md thanks as well!
What razor did you use for this video mate?
@@maxra1 razorock gamechanger.84 with the solid bar. Thanks for watching!
@lawrence1md That's great! How many shaves can you typically achieve from a single Euromax blade?
@ I’m not sure. They are not really my favorite blade, I think I have gave most of these away by now.
Sounds like a good scent! More flannel!
@@johnjaeger9148 thanks for watching John! I need to figure out what flannels I have not worn in videos and try to coordinate them in for videos.
I loved this scent but my wife thought it was a bit Yankee Candle like. 😂
@@TheShaveArcade I can see how some people get that vibe. I do like the layers it has during dry down. Thanks for watching Angelo!
@ the dry down is very nice indeed
Keep it simple: MLB (Matthew Lawrence Brushes)
@@alspencer2794 I do want something simple and catchy. Thanks for brainstorming and commenting Al!
Thanks Matthew. This is exactly the information I needed. You've been a great help.
@@analogidc1394 it’s a good starting point and you can fin tune it to the way you like your lather. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching!
Hi Mathew, I’m an artisan looking to potentially have you review a product or two if you’d be interested, of course. If you could lmk how/where you prefer to communicate regarding this business, I’d be much obliged, sir. Thank you, James
@@Lahey1579 you can email me
Great and very interesting selection of razors! As you love open comb razors, what do you think about the Merkur 41 c open comb?
@@bjarnesolhaug6698 surprisingly I haven’t tried the 41c. I’m sure my selection has changed since this video. Thanks for watching!
Hi Matthew Thinking of your brush project, I am thinking “wood fantasy” sounds like a great brand. If you are going to include resin handles I would suggest “empire” Good luck - great videos - Thanks
@@bjarnesolhaug6698 the resin has some advantages but it’s too much if I just want to do brushes from myself. Thanks for brainstorming and watching!
I see Matt is turning brush handles 👀! Synthetic knots have come a long way, but there is no substitute for good ol' badger. Love that 3 ring Circus (and 95% of all SGS stuff!).
@@carlitos_shaves he does have some nice scents. I still have 2 or 3 that I haven’t made videos with. I’ve been a busy bee hehehehe thanks for watching Carlitos!
@lawrence1md I tagged you in my last video (3 min short, ASMR attempt 😅)
@ I will check it out
Nice scent and shave! Names can be hard-haha! Wood Hound Shave Worx, Stick Dog Shaving, Laurence Shave Co. ? I'm not that great at names-haha! Take care!
@@lastshadow9351 it is difficult to decide. Some names that sound cool but might be confusing if too long. I haven’t decided on anything yet. Thanks for brainstorming and watching Ian!
Great shave as always! Pecan pie sounds nice
@@jefferymiller30 it is a nice scent. I enjoy the layers as the sent dries down. Thanks for watching Jeffrey!
Hi Matthew. That looked like a nice shave.👍 Woodsman Shaving or Woodsman Brushes.
@@royelphick1475 thanks for watching and brainstorming Royel!
Sounds delicious Matthew! So many incredible scents from Phoenix. They certainly make this hobby exciting! Best regards, Glenn
@@theluxuryshavinghobbyist Douglas makes shaving fun with all the different scents to try out. Thanks for watching Glenn!
Great shave Matthew! Love a good GEM razor and Shield makes good razors. You are correct Ali is a horrible site to navigate.
@@ATexanShaves I’m glad I bought this one. It’s a great razor and the price was very reasonable. Thanks for watching Bary!

I like using GEM razors quite a bit as I find my shaves with them are very pleasant. I am not very creative when it comes to artistic things. I use mostly the other side of my brain. So, I am not sure any suggestion I would give give would be worth a hoot-n-holler. That is quite a nice looking brush though. Being an engineer, I like the recipe 1/4 tsp per 14 mL. Would you please describe how/when you add the water? For instance, do you soak the brush and then squeeze out all the water you can and then finally add the 14 mL to the bowl? Just curious as I might give that a try.

Hast dir was gegönnt, Matthew!? Sehr schön 😊! Hab viel Spaß damit! Ich brauche ja nicht mehr so viel, in Prinzip kann ich mich mit, Hauptsache flutschig rutschig, rasieren. Hi Matthew. It's been quite a little while since I caught up with you. I really enjoyed this shave and your discussion about your Coticule, as I have a new Coticule that I am trying to get the hang of. Thanks very much. All the best.
@@FriendshipShaving great to see you again. Let me know if you figure out a good progression with your coticule. Are straight razors readily available in your area. Seems like they are a little pricey here, even the eBay ones. Thanks for watching!
@@lawrence1md I find the prices of straight razors have been steadily rising, especially on eBay, where people seem to think they are selling gold instead of a rusty razor. I have just bought seven razors from an online auction house, but by the time they added their fees; postage, which was extortionate and government tax, it ended up being no cheaper than eBay. I can restore them without much bother, but I'm not sure I'll make a profit.
@ I guess an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Hi Matthew. I agree airy lather that feels nice 🙂 on this soap. I really like the scent. May I ask. What type of coti are you experimenting with? Selected / standard, les lat, la veniette? Thanks hope your week is off to a good start
@@borbelyhaz321 it is a Belgian Coticule, Standard Grade. The cella was better than I expected. Thanks for watching borbely!
Cella is good stuff Maynard
@@Tobins_throwbacks it was better than I expected. Cella for the win. Thanks for watching Tobin!
It's so funny, I have no problem with cinnamon and clove, but I do have a reaction with almond. It sucks because I love this scent-haha! My guess on the razor is that you're having the same thing that you'd have comparing an Astra Green to a Gillette Silver Blue. They're both razor sharp, but one has a much keener edge. You might be able to get there with the new stone and it might have some secrets that you haven't unlocked yet. I'm far from an expert on stones, but I do know that some take a while to figure out and if you're using a slurry stone, it can add some more variables. I'm sure one of the straight razors guys will have some sage advice! I'm sure with your determination you'll get there! Take care!
@@lastshadow9351 yes the slurry stone adds to the complications. I will have to figure out a way to be consistent with it and reduce the slurry or cutting in a way that equals a regular stone progression. On another note cinnamon for me gives a tingle but quickly fades. Thanks for watching Ian!

@@pjwroblewski it was a nice shave for sure. Thanks for watching Patrick!
I know this is an older video. I never see it mentioned, but lately I've been filling my scuttle with ice cold water. Its a game changer for sure. Like it more than warm lather, I can feel the coolness more than the slight temperature change that comes with using hot water.
@@taylorjohnson9541 that sounds nice for a summer shave. Thanks for watching!
Wow, that razor is keen, not a bit of drag, exactly the kind of sound I love. We have talked about this but my neck is an issue. And if my Coti or any natural edge is not where I want it. The neck is where I can tell, and that’s my passing grade. I just had to find stones that worked for me. After learning, most all Coti’s worked. But even now, I chose to finish on oil to bump the edge or I use convex to get them exactly how I like them. The tinkering and the learning is what I enjoy most. Keep at it, i promise you will get it. You have the right attitude for sure. Stay warm.
@@Eric_TheCajunBlade thank you for the kind words of encouragement. I’m sure I will get it. It will just take some learning and experimenting. I didn’t get it right the first time on synthetic stones either. I’ve got the fireplace a cracking right now. Nothing like watching a warm flame flicker.
Don't get down on yourself with not getting the cotiule to preform the way you want. They are tricky and require much finesse compared to other stones. It has taken me months of exclusive practice on them to get an edge that I consider acceptable. So just keep at it and you will be rewarded. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a good one.
@@nonamebear1136 thank you for the encouragement. I think I will get it figured out. Thanks for watching!
