Great blade shave off. Nacet is one of my top blades, Astra Green are OK and in my second Tier they still well priced (about half that of Nacet locally). I like to wet my razor before starting my shave. Have a good one!
Thanks for watching Lawrie! I think Astras fall into my ok rating of blades. Do you buy most of your supplies online or do you have a local shop to purchase from? (Sorry I may have asked you this before)
I’ve got Floid Black in my collection back in the States. Hopefully it’s as good as I remember it. Somehow I knew it would be the Nacet blade. Those seem to be crazy popular right now. Great shave Matthew, can’t wait to see what comes next!
Nice one Matt. I freakin love Droid Black. It smells so good. I agree with you about the paa bath bars not lathering great. I've had a lot of them and have noticed this. I also have a lot of Stirling's and I find that their bath soaps lather up much better. Barrister and Mann's are good too. Have a good wednesday!
I agree with you the Stirling bar soap lathers great. I really enjoy the Droid black scent. I’ve been thinking about doing a top 5 scents video. I may have to break it down by artisan because I can’t have just 5, that’s too tough! Thanks for watching Aaron!
I do mostly shave “dry”. Sometimes I find if the razor gets too wet it seems to wash the soap away & make the shave not as smooth. Yet a little water seems to enhance the smoothness. I think I’m often too excited too start and forget to rinse on that 1st pass 🙈
Great blade comparison of two blades I really like. The Nacet is my favorite of all the blades I have ever tried. I had the Droid Black set and just didn’t love the scent so I let it go. Keep the great videos coming.
Finally...the showdown I've been waiting for! My first blades when I started back to wet shaving were Astra Greens. They remained my favorite until I tried Gillette Nacet blades. Like you, I find the Nacet to be just a bit sharper and smoother than the Astra SPs. Both blades give me BBS results in my Rockwell 6S. But when the Astras run out I will probably stick with the Nacet as my go-to blade. Also, Droid Black is one of my favorite PAA soaps...along with Awesome Sauce, Diver Down, and Shave Chaser. I get great lathers from the CK-1 and CK-6 formulas. BTW, another great blade shave-off!
That Gillette "Facet" in the title had me going, lol. I like both of those blades but it's dependent on the razor as to how well they work. I didn't know that armadillos were that far north, and I hope they don't come to Ohio, as I've had enough problems with groundhogs. I've heard that they can carry leprosy, so I'd pop 'em if I had the option.
Dang auto correct got me on the nacet. The armadillos are not suppose to be able to survive the winters but we haven’t had much of a winter lately. I’ve been told they are hitch hiking on semis and jumping off at stops. Pretty crazy if you ask me. Thanks for watching Chris
I enjoy your channel Mathew. Thank you for always staying on topic & stay focused on the products. I’ve commented before but your your razor cabinet is awesome. I love a good razor comparison 😂 I’ve wanted to love the Astra Green but they are always rough for me. Nacet is the clear winner for me of these 2! Have you tried stirling bar soap? I got one of their shampoo bar soaps as a sample & liked it. Made me want to try their bar soaps.
For my Rex Envoy, the Astra is actually a smoother blade. The Nacets are right behind them though. Can't even use a Feather in the Envoy. They just seem to rake across my skin and don't want to cut. I imagine the Feather would pair nicely in an open comb.
My wry sense of humor picked up on some unintended humor today...couldn't lather the bath soap...moth balls in my nose. My mind instantly thought...a good boar brush would surely lather up the bath soap...not sure the old time meant for you to put the moth balls in your nose. On a more serious note, Nacets are my favorite and I just picked up another 100 for $9.99 during Italian Barber's last 24 hour sale. I also got my first 100 GSBs. Them armadillos are as dumb as rocks and we occasionally have one wander through our backyard here in South Metro Hotlanta. Fortunately they don't seem to stick around, but I hear they can really tear up a lawn. I'm looking forward to the next round of you Champions League! Kudo's to your PropGal for making it all possible!!!
Bryan you actually hit a thought I had for a video that I haven’t made yet. It will be titled something like “will a paa bar soap lather for shaving”. I know the results already but will be a fun one to make. Thanks for watching!
Nice shave! I don’t mind Astras from time to time, but in a head to head Nacets the in for me, but that being said, I can tolerate both. Have a great day!
I started using the Astra about 2 weeks ago. It has caused some serious razor burn on my neck. I've never gotten razor burn with any other blades. They are just not for me.

Of course it was the user that made the shave nice. No question! Also, I noticed that you had no trouble unscrewing the head from the Nacet-loaded razor... did you or she tighten it down this time? 😝 (On a more serious note, I really hope the pup is OK.)
