For everyone who tried glue and doesn't work, try using double sided clear tape. It works a lot better in my opinion, I made mine to make it look just like this:) (for my Love Live Candy cosplay:)
I can’t wait to make these. I’m thinking If you drape the cellophane from the top and just brought it down , then tied it I think that would make it neater looking from both sides. Thanks for this cute idea.
If you want to make them for Christmas and it's out of season for pool noodles, you can use the black foam (noodle) wrapping for water pipes and just wrap them with different colors of duct tape, covering the whole thing in colorful tape so the black doesn't show.
Great tutorial! Made four of these this weekend for my halloween party. We are making the house into the witches candy cottage. I did have some trouble on the first attempt because my hot glue gun melted the noodles. Once I got a low heat gun, it worked a lot better but was still tricky to get them to glue on straight. Thanks again!
You make it look easy, hot glue was a pain to use but I made it work for a daughters candy themed party also made a few other candies. I would have never thought of this so thanks for the video : )
In researching glues I found that JB Weld plastic weld is very strong and sets in 1 hr. but it is a two part epoxy, you do not have to mix it. Amazing goop all purpose is also really good but it takes 24 to 72 hrs to set. Another suggestion would to use a strong double face tape.
used clear packing tape and clear giant basket bags from dollar tree THEY TURNED OUT SOOOO PRETTY!!!!! forget the glue gun i only used it to insert and glue the PVC pipe thats all the lollipop i used tape
Donielle Deoundra each time i rolled the noodle i would put tape to hold it together and i repeatedly did it till it was all rolled up in a circle worked great and when u put the plastic "candy wrapper" u cant even tell i bought the clear big gift bags at dollar tree and they fit perfectly
Oh my goodness those are adorable!!! Your'e so clever but the only bad part is that the stores have put away their summer stuff so it may be too late to make some this year but next year...:). So cute, can't wait to share this for Blue Tuesday next week in the group!
I made 4 of them; had a helper, the pool noodles were hard to curve, be careful with the glue gun, i melted the foam in a few places. USE OUTDOOR CAULK TO GLUE THE PVC PIPE, the glue gun is too weak. I've used mine for 3 years now and still in love with them!!! also try to curve the noodles the night before and put some weights on them; it will help with the glueing process.
These are so stinking cute! I did these for my sons candy carnival party. You can also use foam insulation pipe if you cannot find pool noodles! That's what I use! They are so cute
Thanks for sharing this, my daughter baby shower is fast approaching and I'm trying to make most of her candy land theme baby shower for a girl on my own thanks for sharing
After some trial and error I got them done, but agree that this video made it seem easy peasy, which it is not. The shrink wrap basket bags work perfect for the wrap. Make sure to buy plenty of duct tape and ribbon! (I used ribbon to tie the end of the noodle down as it kept popping off whether glue was hot or not.
Awwww Haaaaa I tried this last year.. just could not get it to do just right... So I came back to your video and realized I needed "2" pool noodles... So much better now... Thank you Gals for sharing this great video/tutorial
I know this video is killing bd of old but I love it. Is there any way to make light up candies? Maybe even chasing lights for the lollipops. Never seen them so I’m looking for how to do that. It’s July and I’m already planning for Christmas. XO.
I love these but have not made any yet. I have been reading all the comments about the glue gun and I would also suggest using a wooden dowel rod about a 1/4 to 5/8 in diameter. Sharpen one end to a point so it goes through all layers but first measure the length you need. You can tape the ends so they don't protrude and it will hold up better than tape through the season. It should last you a long time. Hope this helped everyone. I am surprised liquid nails does not work, maybe they did not let it set long enough to take hold, liquid nails takes about 24 hrs to harden. Has anyone tried super glue?
You know.. I did this years and years ago.. I do remember we had to use medium heat hot glue because if it was too hot it would melt the pool noodle. We also put a lot of glue on it and tied it tight until it dried. I’m not sure why some people trying this DIY are having problems with the glue and others are not having any issues.. I don’t know if it’s the kind of pool noodle? Or the type of glue or temperature but it worked when I did it on the show and what you see in the video is exactly how we did it. So I’m a bit perplexed with why it works for most and some are struggling with it.
i finally put the LED rope light for christmas 16ft from walmart, then the lolipop lights up! woohoo, also if you get LED pool noodles it has a button so it light up ready....this will be the way i decorated my front yard this xmas.
Ok I've tired to make these and they are a pain. I would never try again. Here is what I've found. Glue only where tape is otherwise melts noodle don't care what temp. Low temp won't work at all. Also the cheaper noodle from Dollar Tree works best. High price noodles you can't bend and them stay at all. Next to glue the two together must glue and wait might not stay. I finally ended up using clear tape to hold with the glue drying other wise it takes about 8 minutes holding noodle for glue to set up.Other wise they pop lose and have to restart it is a mess. YUCK don't have the patience for that at all. Next cutting the circle for pipe. make sure to do where no tape.Duck tape works the best don't melt when glue. Pipe is 3/4 inch cost $2.63 a 10 foot piece at Home Depot. Get clear wrap at Micheal's 100 foot for 10 dollars without coupon. Can get colors too.Good luck I burnt hands 3 times trying to hold the noodle till it dried. It slips and slides. It sin't as easy as she makes it look. have a glass of ice water to put hand/fingers in when get hot glue on them.
+RinUmiEli By any chance are you doing a cosplay from Love Live? Judging by your name. I'm cosplaying Nico from the Candy Set. I was looking up ways to make fake lollipop preps for my cosplay!
Loved this idea...but my hot glue gun melted the noodles and the e6000 says not for use on styrofoam. We tried gorilla glue made for foam and still no luck as it doesn't adhere/dry on contact :(
I love this my theme this year is peppermint candies got the spiral red and white mesh on my railings and gonna use this idea without the sticks and hang them on my front porch but will use this idea for for other candies and I'm gonna do a candy cane
This diy is not as easy as they make it look. Here's what I did that helped. I bought noodles from lowes. I made small ones and large ones. Putting duct tape around the pool only broke when I rolled the noodle, so I took two different color noodles, hot glued the ends together and then rolled them tightly. I didn't use hot glue all the way through. I rolled them all the way up then used hot glue at the last 6 inches. Then I took tape and wrapped it around the entire thing for a few hours to allow the glue to dry and hold. After a few hours i cut the tape off and it stayed perfectly. Then I wrapped silver glitter ribbon around the pvc pipe.
+carole harris Hi Carol, I found that Walmart sells rolls of the cellophane for $15.00 for 30"x100' www.walmart.com/search/?query=cellophane%20wrap here is a link OR you can type in walmart on your browser and type in cellophane. Hope this helps
This are soooooo hard to make!!!!!! Our glue gun was to hot and melted so we bought a new one in low setting, if you roll to tightly the noodle will crack in the beginning corner and I used shush kabob stick to help hold it together, the hot glue barley worked and ugh looks easier then it is
hi I am trying to make these but I am having trouble getting the noodles glued. did you have a specific type of glue to use? I really need help. thanks
I had trouble with the hot glue as well because my glue gun only has one setting so I can't lower the temperature & the foam would just melt. So what worked perfectly for me was using wooden skewers to keep it all together. The kind used for kabobs. Be careful not to stick yourself & the bigger the lollipop, the better the skewers are hidden. You can also cut off excess pieces sticking out. I used 2 pool noodles for the bigger pops & one noodle for the smaller pops & clear tape to give it a tighter look so there'd be no empty spaces. Good luck & I hope this helps!
I just tried this and I got my noodle to stay in the lollipop shape but you can see all the hot glue gun strands and it looks sloppy :( but I also have kind of a cheaper glue gun so that might also be my problem :(
For everyone who tried glue and doesn't work, try using double sided clear tape. It works a lot better in my opinion, I made mine to make it look just like this:)
(for my Love Live Candy cosplay:)

Wow these lollipops are HUGE! Good job. Good video.

What is the dimensions of the PVC Pipe ? Can u also get the stakes at the same Store ? Thank You
You make it look easy, hot glue was a pain to use but I made it work for a daughters candy themed party also made a few other candies. I would have never thought of this so thanks for the video : )

Do you use 55" x 3 1/4" x 3 1/4", or the 55" x 2 3/8" x 2 3/8" pool foam sizes?
used clear packing tape and clear giant basket bags from dollar tree THEY TURNED OUT SOOOO PRETTY!!!!! forget the glue gun i only used it to insert and glue the PVC pipe thats all the lollipop i used tape

I FORGOT, GO TO A POOL STORE...THEY USUALLY HAVE THE POOL NOODLES IN THERE WAREHOUSE IN THE COLD MONTHS OF THE YEAR; THAT'S WHERE I FOUND THEM!
I was looking around on UA-cam for a DIY Loilipop for my Halloween costume and this helps me so much thank you 💗🍭
These are so stinking cute! I did these for my sons candy carnival party. You can also use foam insulation pipe if you cannot find pool noodles! That's what I use! They are so cute
The foam insulation for pipes is black so you do have to paint them first or use orange duct tape for a Halloween pop!
My neighbour down the street made these and put them in her yard this Christmas! They looked wonderful!
Thanks for sharing this, my daughter baby shower is fast approaching and I'm trying to make most of her candy land theme baby shower for a girl on my own thanks for sharing
