Hey, CIVAR. Another great video, as always, but... I have to question the whole concept of laying down dolly track inside what is already an entirely digital environment. Why not attach the camera to a spline? Or, simply key the camera to follow the same path? I don't see the point of adjusting Bezier handles on a rail that could just as easily be adjusted on the camera itself in the Graph Editor. Curve Editor... whatever Unreal calls it. Maybe I'm being a bit dense here [no surprise, trust me] but I don't see the advantage of adding another layer on top of what a simple camera rig can already do. On the Plus side.... Thank You Thank You Thank You for pointing out the Enable Look At Tracking feature. I figured Unreal had to have an aim-constraint of some sort, but did not know what it was called. So... thanks!
@@civareducation It may be that what I'm used to doing in Maya is not as easily done in UE, and perhaps the Rail Rig addresses some of those issues. I need to get in there and start trying things out, for sure. Whether using Maya or UE, I would definitely stack the camera on at least a couple of nodes, one for translation and a second for rotation, and the Rail Rig looks like it would provide similar flexibility. Hopefully, unChecking that Show Rail Visualization box will take some of the cartoony stigma away! Anyway, thank you again for all your hard work bringing us these videos!
"Hi, I followed all your instructions, and yes, it worked, but there's one issue: why doesn't my camera view change in real-time when I slide the 'current position on rail' slider from 0 to 1? The camera moves along the rail, but the focus rotation doesn't immediately turn and track the selected object.
Hello, when I render using this technique, the camera does not move and I get an error message saying that the mounted camera has to be movable, but the camera is already set to "movable", I could not find solutions in the forums. Can anyone help me with this issue?
Can I just ask is there a way to smoothly switch between 2 "look at tracking" targets?
Nice ! Possible insert multi camera to rail slide ?
Why tf can we move / rotate the rail itself using both local and world orientation but not the spline points?!
