This cured my insomnia. I still don't know what happened to xana, and I've watched this video dozens of times.
I swear dude. I love listening to these videos when going to sleep. His voice takes me into a world without my worries and thoughts, and whoosh I'm asleep.
I've stopped listening to new content while going to sleep. I usually just play one of these complete stories. 😂😂
@@abhig61Same here.
@@abhig61Burning of Prospero is God tier.
As long as there aren't any guest voice actors, don't get me wrong though, they do incredible work. It just usually wakes me up when I'm using these to fall asleep 😂
It’s invaluable
I'll have some wild Sci fi xeno fighting war dreams sometimes sleeping to this stuff lol
I can't tell you how much I love these long form compilations. I love having them in the background when I'm gaming or doing chores around the house. Many thanks historitor.
I keep and breed exotic inverts and can’t attest to this more
>shows up to battle
>Kills all the traitors
>Kills all the loyalists
>Refuses to elaborate further
Xanallionaire grindset
Dude your script writing and narration is above S Tier
Absolutely. It's honestly the biggest draw for me... even moreso than the lore itself. His scripts have some real personality in them, so I'm always curious how he's gonna put his personal touch on each topic
The Xana Incursion is one of my favorite operations of the HH.
Henry heretic
If the Henry Cavill project does in fact get off the ground, I sincerely believe that your voice and style would be perfect for any narration.
Do not trust Amazon.
*see Rings of Power or Wheel of time. Both great works of art that Amazon promptly took a shit on.
Be really cool if they had different 40K lore channels do the intro with a stylistic spin on each episode
Luetin09, Arch, Varrack etc etc
@@cstgraphpads2091 I trust Henry.
@@swampdonk3y712 To be fair, GW seems to be EXTREMELY ANAL about protecting their I.P.s
This was quite a trip. A three-way political triangle. Mysteries. Ambush. Betrayal. And, of course, a callback to earlier records of techno-necromancy. All this, and more.
Yes, the Xana Incursion was certainly an interesting event in the Horus Heresy, and a fascinating thread in the run-up to it.
I utterly love this strange and convoluted tale

Oculus your Xana videos inspired me to make a "Xana Pattern Plasma Rifle", which basically operates as a plasma sniper weapon. The Dark Angel in the kill team has used it as his main weapon ever since!
Love your work 🖤
An overheating sniper rifle sounds nice. The plasma gun was always a very powerful weapon in all regards except for that little bit.
@@SusCalvin that's the thing Karl, this rifle only risks overheating if the user fires in the overcharge mode for multiple rounds in a row! This Xana Pattern rifle is 30th Millennium era after all!
@@tonypecoraro9220 I kind of like my old deathtraps of plasma weapons. It was a nice tradeoff with how awesome plasmaguns were otherwise. They had decent range, decent Strength, could be carried by a single model as a special weapon etc.
@@SusCalvin This is my rifle, this is my gun... This is my plasma, I rolled a 1 💀
Plasma weapons, for when you need to kill something so badly you're willing to risk a 1 in chance of briefly becoming a small star to attempt it.
The Henry Cavil news and now this !!! What a blessed day.
Yep 😊
He'd freaking kill it as Eisenhorn.
Indeed a portent of interesting things to come.
Tis’ indeed interesting times.
@@seantracey9935 rather see him as Ciaphas or Gaunt. Or even a Marine.
Thank you for your works, Oculus. You truly are the greatest orator of lore in recent memory. Might I suggest you give your magic (non-malefic) touch to the chronicling of the exploits and quirks of the Necron lord known as Trazyn, the "Infinite" being his byname. Whilst the Necron are, obviously, xenos in need of purgation, I'd be amiss if I said I can not find certain... similarities between your line of work and this particular xeno's predilections. For better or worse.
Enjoy his work while you can, before the Inquisition sends him the way of the previous greatest orators
@@aliveandwellinisrael2507 They tried. Twice.
Lord Commander Rowboat Girlyman stared at them in a *Calm and Rational Manner* and said "No." The matter was considered settled.
I love the “complete” episodes. Also, the Xana series is maybe my favorite of your works: I don’t know how many times I’ve watched it, but its probably waaay too many times…
And I love crazy Mechanicum/admech stuff, and I wish it got explored in depth more.
So I was re-watching this and man the imperium's plan to secure Xana's loyalty was really bad. First we'll declare war against you but if you join us in the war we will grant you clemency. That kind of deal only works when in a position of obvious strength and they were in the middle of a civil war which at the time had no clear victor. Horus actually offered them something if they joined and never threatened them. It was probably an easy choice for them.
First, the Cavil news, then Baldermort uploads and now this....Praise The Emperor for these blessings!
I’ll say this….if Henry Cavill is looking for writers for his 40k project, he would be doing himself, and everyone, a GREAT disservice if he didn’t approach you, Baldamort, the Remembrancer, and I’m sure there are many others, but you guys are my top three 👍🏻👍🏻
I keep coming back to OI to listen again. I don't know if his style would translate to TV or a movie. But I'd be willing to watch.
Imperium: let's threaten an isolationist power who are clearly looking for gains out of this civil war who are already autonomous because they called our bluff when integrating them.
Truely big E and his underlings are gods of diplomacy and negotiation.
“Strategic geniuses.”
Rogal Dorn was a lot of things. Subtle and diplomatic do not rank high on the list. It's really no wonder that so many joined Horus when the Emperor's own praetorian was giving the compelling offering of "Join us or die, you traitors!"
Excellent work. Thank you for this video. Still annoying that there are no pic-captures of either the Dark Sovereign or the Mu-571.
Especially the Dark Sovereign, which just utterly steals the show for me in terms of badarsery - which is no small feat given what the fleet from Battlefleet Solar did and the deception on the moon and Xana 2 itself.
I painted all the black parts on 1000pts of Salamanders while listening to this. Thanks for keeping me from getting bored.
I absolutely love the tale of this Forge World, especially how the Incursion is presented by our wonderful narrator
Ah yes... The "Xana Clusterfuck"
Cool that such a raid was lead by a thunder warrior turned astartes.
You sir are hands down my favorite lore channel hell I listen to your old stuff some times just to listen to while I game
Endryd Haar, always a badass
every oculus video is an instant like video
true words
Sweet! Thanks for all the hard work you do making these. And I love that you were and still are making content with alfabusa.
This is my favorite event of the Horus Heresy, and narration of it is sublime.
I feel like there are a lot of very large, even overly long lore videos on UA-cam. But yours have the advantage of making use of that time. I do prefer your earlier shorter videos, but there are quite modular and a good summary of a subject.
Very much enjoying your videos on the remaining Legions. At first to hear about your thoughts on the War Born and later Word Bearers; but I'm guessing you're tying it into Calth, and that will be a very good watch indeed.
An incredible story narrated with excellence.
Love these crazy shows of power and tactics in the Heresy Era.
Indeed - it'd actually be kinda cool and perhaps fitting if for the Lion's return at the turn of the tide on Macragge warp detection engines on the planet 'scream' about a Fleet translating despite the Shadow in the Warp, allowing the Angels of Death a moment of Heresy Era badarsey
My favourite historical archive.
This was amazing. Didn’t expect the twists and turns but I loved them. Made it more exciting!
It's a fantastic little tale made even better by the twists and turns, especially given how hard it is to pick which "oh shit" moment for Xana is actually the best (the Fleet popping into the system further than they should be able to, The Dark Sovereign popping into the system *within* Xana 1 itself or the combined reveal of the Assassin and Loyalist forces impersonate the SoH and using Hels Nails to sic dead Marines on Xana's ports), and ultimate uncertainty about if any of the three attacking elements were acting in concert with each other or not.
My favorite record of them all so far. I love stuff like this
More love and lore for our favorite Dark Mechanicum scorpion boy, Anacharis Scoria! Such an underrated terror.
Another excellent piece! Thanks for all your work feeding our warhammer lore addiction!
There is duplicate audio starting the first time at around 0:30 jic you want to cut it out.
Otherwise just enjoy the free engagement from this comment, the video earned it
weird question... alot of times in the lore the natural ressources of a planet are exhausted. which makes sense if you ship products off world, BUT... does the imperium recycle war material? i know about ships (sometimes) and famously dead people on hive worlds. but one would think that there is a lot of scrap after wars to be recycled, limiting the need for mining. also... the waporising(disapearance) of all native water is dumb, since it stays on the planet if not shipped away (yes sometimes water can escape a planet, but not due to human factor exccept exporting it)
question over
Your videos are amazing occulus thank you for another gem =D
I would expect them to recycle way material, accept for stuff that’s radioactive or Chaos contaminated or whatever. Old Earth might well have lost water through colonising the Galaxy and providing those expeditionary fleets and colonists with water. Also maybe large scale industrial processes or weapons could send more water out to space. Mars had lots of water once but lost most of it to space.
In the canon lore, Necromunda was originally an industrial world and even though its original resources are spent, ot still is, endlessly recycling the junk of ages past into new imperial tech to be taken and fired elsewhere, so the cycle begins again.
Awesome. Simply awesome. Keep it up man, your work is a needed outlet.
Where did the Dark Angels come from? Weren't they with the Lion behind the ruinstorm or at Caliban?
Best way to start a new year
Praise be to His Name! The Chronicler has bestowed upon us his gathered knowledge and work.
The planing behind the incursion was so incredible I wonder if the Lion wasn't involved in its making.
It would make sense. The Dark Angels had a close relationship with Xana since he had joined the Imperium, i imagine their betrayal was a personal hit to him.
Such Good!! I've listened to Xana part one and two SO many times.
What an outstanding work! Thank you, Sir!
This was amazing I just painted my first Legio Vulturum and doing the obligatory lore dive and found myself here. Any Idea what color the Forge world used? This was such a treat thank you!!
The gore crows are bone and black. I'm using grey trim on my titans. I painted my warhound and reaver like house malinax because when I painted them the gore crows didn't have a color scheme yet.
My warbringer and Warlord will be painted with some black panels.
Bless is this day!
enjoy the holiday break Oculus, well earned!
It should be noted that though Space Marine Legions brought many many worlds into the Imperium. But it was the human armies of the EoM that brought the most worlds into Imperial Compliance on their own. The one of kind uber powerful ordonata were probably created as one off weapons for now forgotten apocalyptic wars in Dark Age of Technology or the Cybernetic Rebellion or both.
Good point. And I wish this was explored more in 30K products
Longer videos are great for long drives and long work days
Great video as always! Love these long form deep dives
I'm surprised that the Loyalist's "gift" barges on the surface did not contain some manner of accursed Exterminatus ordnance. That would surely have done even more damage than the ultimately outmatched revenant assault.
Coming just off of finishing Mechanicus: 40k, this comes as if ordered by the providence of the Omnissiah itself.
xanaII is new to me, thanks for discussing this, love me some more lore bits in me head
Any day with an upload from Oculus Imperia is a good day, but I'm snowed in and couldn't go into work so even better :D
I still don't get why Xana bothered to make a deal with Horus anyway. The Imperium at it's full might couldn't conquer them profitably and they had the ability to do whatever research they wanted while the Imperium destroyed itself.
Why not just stay independent and then mop up the survivors?
The imperium would not let them do that. Remember Dorn's proclamation. The deal was that the imperium would only back off if Xana joined them.
Thank you so much for the work you do brother, you have made my night shift go that little bit quicker. Happy Xmas to you and yours from across the water in Èire 👍🇮🇪
Hey Oculus, your audio made an accident repeat between 0:25-0:45. I don't know if it's fixable, but figured I'd mention it.
thanks for misdirecting us until the reveal. a pleasure to be had, I will say :)
Now that the Lion is back, I wonder if the Dark Sovereign survived somewhere.
Nice video, thanks! Comment for the SKull Throne!
I say it oft and I say so again. Many thanks Oculus.
What an epic read!
In comparison, the Xanax incursion was considerably more chill
I slept through the whole thing, tbh
Been waiting for this!
Wow I never heard of this one
The best representation of Warhammer.
Thanks for this compilation!

Well done 👏👏👏 i enjoyed every minute of it
Do love the Xana Incursion
Ah, the bots have arrived.
Good content

And yet, they would...
Favourite part of that story.
my boss could not understand why i am so productive.
then i showed that i am listening this .
Now he loves 40k
Thank you.
Dude your videos are amazing keep it moving :)
In this record, Dorn and Malcador give the boot, Medium Style, to a bunch of shifty con cyborgs.
Okay, that was cool.
Well Done Chronicler:)
Splendid telling of the tale. The political machinations in particular were interesting, in my view.
*looks at the length of the video* HOLY
“A volume of-“ YEAH YOUVE SAID THAT!
The Emperor protects
I'm always confused, are these separate from the other two videos you did on this, or just a compilation?
These are just compilations. I like putting them out for the people who prefer the complete ones, as it's not often possible to work massive videos into the regular schedule.
@@OculusImperia thanks, love your work. Will probably listen to it again
Nice video !
So Xana fought with the dark angels against the Rangda. They stopped the advance under the lion.
Harr is such a leviathan, he is what made 30k mankind so great. It would be wonderful to have a bornesouls game as him butchering traitor astartes.
Great video
My Man oculus!
Wait.... You've already done this before. Was this a reupload?
Is Xana's story covered in the Forge World Books or some other source. Sounds too interesting to be black library or codex entry ?
Horus Heresy FW books
@@p_serdiuk thanks
Awesome
Hahahahaaaaa
This story thought it had escaped me.
Well it hasn't. I have found you and i am now listening to you.
I just realized you changed your Twitter handle. Last video I watched you swore you wouldn't! What else have you lied about!?
So what even were the golem/undead astarties that broke out of there containers in the forges? Was that ever explained?
Oh yeah the Keys of Hel. What a disturbing but effective tool.
Wouldn’t things pertaining to Mars be in “his” own image?
I would advocate for an anthology series of short stories like the Outer Limits allowing for lots of different perspectives/worlds/viewpoints/heroes/villains etc.
If you showed Twitter to a Tech Adept, they would kill you for it…. Gosh what a regression.
