I have one of those at my shop right now. We are completely redoing the interior for the customer and rebuilding the convertable top. Its really a neat car. I added a security system with keyless entry and a hidden stereo with Bluetooth so they can listen to music from the phone. I love that you called it a micro machine, I loved those when I was a kid.
My neighbor runs a shop here in the Netherlands called Figarocars, that's specialized in the Nissan Figaro. They buy, restore, sell and do maintenance on these cars only
The Figaro's were another Japanese import that were popular in the early 2000's. Sadly the UK's salted roads in winter were not kind to them and only a few importers rustproofed them, so they started to fail our infamous annual MOT test. Among other cars on the road they look realy small, but the retro styling made them popular with many drivers who had smaller than average bodies, i had no chance! Looks like the Car Wizard is now a Japanese import specialist, more video's please.
Same here in Ireland. We had a _huge_ Japanese import scene here on the late 90s-early 00's and not just the 'interesting' stuff for petrolheads, a lot of non car people were buying JDM imports as ordinary family cars. Much of it down to local car pricing being daft and often not as fully featured as in other markets. or you could buy an import in usually amazing condition for a lot less. As a widespread thing it's long dead now of course. Killed by extra taxes and higher insurance(pushed by the local dealer lobbies) and both were already daft here. Like you guys in the UK rust didn't help, nor changing fashions. Funny enough Figaros are one of the few JDM imports I still see about the place regularly enough, the other being MX-5s. A client of mine has one as her daily driver since 1999. A Figaro always raises a smile. 😀
MOT are a terrible idea. Many cars get lightly refurbished to pass MOT instead of the car getting repaired properly. The MOT motto is the same motto used in the Midlands to manufacture the Range Rover, "That'll do."
Cute little car. Another great video. Ideal for city driving and parking. There is the Chevelle in the background, overlooking the whole garage. Nice cameo by Tyler Grimes.
I live relatively near the warehouse in Christiansburg. You can take a tour of the owners massive collection of cars. He definitely has the market cap on Figaros in the US and has way more hoarded away than posted for sale. Has to be at least 100/150 of them.
some other youtuber had one and it was rusty, they repaired some of it. But I cant remember who it was, I dont know if thats the one Tech connections got. it was grey too.
Sorry sir but this car was never offered in pink, just the four original colours. It's a very entertaining car which my wife owns. Her car is painted black and I am hoping to get the car back on the road soon, and it's stored in a garage along with her Austin Mini City. Awesome little car.
All 4 of these Nissan 'Pike' cars are super cool, along with all the other crazy stuff out of Japan during this time like the AZ1 and Sera when people there had money to spend on wacky stuff.
Lovely little cars. I really like the attention to detail Nissan incorporated on them. Retro-cool, but still a practical runabout. Thanks, Mr. and Mrs. Wizard for showing this li'l girl! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
There are thousands of these in the UK especially originally in London.... RHD of course. Most that were in London are now out in the wider UK thanks to low emission zones.
My son picked up a Very Nice Green Spring Figaro from the Importer in Virginia. We have a Really Nice 1970 Black Cherry Chevelle, LS3, great interior and paint. But when I park next to my sons Figaro...it's like my Chevelle isn't even there. He sold his Excellent Running '79 Firebird with a 5.3LS motor, and bought a Nice Figaro. I'm really happy for the attention he and his little car are getting.
I recall seeing 2 of these in the UK in my past travels. Nissan made several 'retro' vehicles in the early 1990's. One of them was a micro commercial 'van' called the S-Cargo. It had a rounded top and back, kinda like a snail (escargot). I recall seeing one in New Zealand in 1994.
They were quite common. A lady at work had one for years. A more interesting Japanese import which another lady had was a Toyota Sera. The car that inspired the McLaren F1 doors.
Some one in the city I live in, Washington State has an S-Cargo. The second I saw it I knew what it was because I used to get every edition of Car and Drivers plus Road and Track back then and there were several writeup's of these.
A friend of mine had a S-Cargo. We used to do a music trivia show and he used it to get the gear to the gigs. I drove it once, interesting experience. One really annoying quirk/feature of the S-Cargo was when the automatic transmission was put into reverse it made quite a loud beeping sound like many trucks reversing but only on the inside, not on the outside.
9:30 A tip from working in the medical field - have X type or language restaurant on speed dial - you should be near a Japanese restaurant you could call?
I saw a Figaro in downtown Gainesville Fl last August. It was green. They are pretty cool when you see them in person. Wish I could post some pics I took.
Wizard we have a pink Figgy here in the UK for 7 years now and the Wife loves it? and it was only offered as Grey, Blue, Green and Topaz were standard any other colour was custom, Side note it was the first car in the world to have a CD player fitted as standard and not an extra
Wow! That is a rare bird! That is a Cadillac size door! The front end reminds me of a Nash Metropolitan! Keep those rare birds comings! A lot of your vids are like history lessons! Thanx Wizard!
❤️ hoovies Ferrari from Cartrek in the back. The interior of that Figaro looks how I imagine a real life Barbie car would look on the inside, that's not a bad thing. Honestly, it's pretty cool. One cute little car.
If that car was sold in North America I would have been interested in it. Does seem like it should have got much better fuel mileage . Other then that it seems like a sensible tiny car
Transmission hampers the mpg. If it had a manual it would be in the 40's. Knew a guy that had a 90 Mitsubishi Mirage and it regularly got 38-40 on the highway with the 5 speed.
A very interesting car. A year or two ago I was surprised to see a huge collection of Figaros in the warehouse of Duncan Imports in the USA. All for sale by the business of JDM imports I believe. The business owner saw the potential of the cars when new visiting Japan as a Honda dealer. Just waited for the 25 year rule to tick over before he got as many good examples as he could.
When I was stationed in Japan there was an air show on my base that Japanese locals came to. This wasn’t too long after 9/11 so security was high. I was one of the guys that searched the locals cars that were coming on the base. We would hand them a laminated piece of paper that instructed them to do things like, exit your car, open all doors, hood and trunk. One of the instructions lost in translation was “open glove box.” Whoever had translated glovebox into Japanese had done so directly. The Japanese do not call the storage compartment on the passenger side of their cars a “glovebox.” Anyway I remember searching at least a couple of these Figaros. Fun times.
My friend took me around in hers when I visited her in Japan and I insisted she bring it back to the states. Probably the only good advice I’ve ever given her 😂
The Mitsubishi Cordia I had was equipped with a very simmilar catalytic converter set up. Had a cast iron exhaust manifold and what looked like an iron coffee can that bolted under it that held a replaceable catalysts element inside.
The first time I saw a Figaro was in St. Andrews in Scotland. At the time I didn't realize it was a Nissan, let alone a relatively modern Nissan. I really liked the looks and took several photos of it. Thanks for showing us around this one!

As I recall, 12" tires in the USA only have a width specification (no aspect ratio), so you'd see them in a size like P155/R12. The Renault LeCar (Renault 5 everywhere else) had them.
12" wheels were used on some configurations of the Geo Metro (and I think also some early Hondas?) . So you could get tires for that car here. They might not be the exact same size, but if that car isn't a daily driver they would probably be close enough.
We got loads of these in the UK, & you still see them regularly (we get loads of JDM imports, thanks to the fact Japan has VERY strict laws about old cars, + are RHD). One thing I will advise the owner to do, is rustproofing! JDM cars don't tend to have much in the way of rustproofing, as they dont use salt on their roads, as a result, most of the UK ones have rotted out, especially in the rockers, rear wheel arches/fenders & floors, + a lot of the chromed steel parts, like bumpers, rust as well (I`ve seen them snap off!), so, tell him to get it thoroughly rustproofed ASAP, even more so if he`s in a wet area!
Kristi Lee from the Bob and Tom radio show (out of Indiana) has a Figaro and she loves it. She is also a car gal - loved cars and knows a good bit about them.
They're not that common - they only ever built 20,000 of them and as they're all 32 years old, rust and accidents will have claimed a few. That being said, there's one near me identical to the one in the video.

Just looked up this car on carsales where I live in Sydney Australia, and they had 2, one the same colour as yours and the other one was a green pastel colour. The grey one was asking AUD 30,000 and the green one was AUD 39,990
Still see a fair few here on UK roads, they are super cool. Based on the Nissan Micra (JDM Nissan March) and you had to enter a lottery to even get the chance to buy one. Great video Wizard
I've owned 3 of these, love the 1 liter turbo. I hope this is not from anywhere fukushima effect area.. otherwise some of these has radiation warning paper
Absolutely love the look of these cars! This is a really small car, and this is coming from a Miata driver. That said, cars and trucks have gotten too big. I’d love to see cars shrink again.
The Ford Festiva, a subcompact made by Mazda for Ford, had 12" wheels. I have owned two of them in my lifetime. They were pretty common back in the 90's and 00's, so tire shops probably could get that tire size, at least back then. Although I haven't seen one of these on the road in probably the last 10 years. (sure would like to get my hands on another one now, though)
The 80s Chevy Sprint/1st gen Geo Metro & 1st gen Subaru Justy used 12” Tires. A 89 Daihatsu Hijet Kei pickup I have uses 10” tires. Try finding those at your local tire shop😳
Nearly bought one of these many years ago. It even had little posy vases on the door pillars! Glad I didn't because they were really prone to rust here in the UK!
The Yamaha designed engine in the early 2000s Ford Fiesta 1.4 had the catalytic converter in the same place and was a cast iron unit, just like the Nissan's
I live in the UK and have seen one or two about over the years - they are truly tiny cars. My little Honda CR-Z is bigger than one of these. Suzuki did the Cappuccino which was also a tiny two seater around the same time.
Where is your shop?
No-muffler Newton, KS
The security system is such a waste. Who else has a Figaro? Is that your car sir? How many have you seen?

Yeah I used to see quite a few of these around, cute things. There's one in Hertford still in the pastel green colour.
Thankfully a lot of the ones that rotted, their hearts got to live on in K10 and K11 Micra's. Turboooooo
MOT are a terrible idea. Many cars get lightly refurbished to pass MOT instead of the car getting repaired properly. The MOT motto is the same motto used in the Midlands to manufacture the Range Rover, "That'll do."
Also a TV star in The Sarah Jane Adventures and a cameo in one of the Cumberbatch Sherlock Holmes series.
I have seen Figaro once in a local car show here in Finland. Needless to say, it was easy to spot amongst the other cars.
I want to buy one of these. And then drive it to a biker bar....
Great video!
These (the Figaro) are still quite popular in the UK. There seem to be plenty about
Yeh see them all the time
Cute little car. Another great video. Ideal for city driving and parking. There is the Chevelle in the background, overlooking the whole garage. Nice cameo by Tyler Grimes.
Duncan Imports in Virginia has about 50 of these in stock from mid teens to high 40s depending on mileage / condition.
That's why they have a bunch of them in stock.....High 40's? Huh? What? You have to be kidding.
I live relatively near the warehouse in Christiansburg. You can take a tour of the owners massive collection of cars. He definitely has the market cap on Figaros in the US and has way more hoarded away than posted for sale. Has to be at least 100/150 of them.
They have one like this for $52k
You can buy them from Japan for $4000.
I’d like to know what bridge they’re trying to sell. These are $20k cars at best
Alec at Technology Connections has one. Had a bit of work done to it by Aging Wheels. Neat little car, would love to have one.

The only other Nissan Figaro I know of is from Technology Connections! Is that the one you are thinking of?
This is one of my favorite things about your videos, I get to see cars, that are VERY RARE and I appreciate your knowledge
what a beautiful little car! It reminds me a little of Columbo's 1959 Peugeot 403 from the show. But in much better shape than that obviously.
My first thought was the Austin A30 ... but then I'm prehistoric.
