This car has a cult following in the UK. Average price today is around £6,000 ($8,000) although some are much more expensive. There are a few daily drivers at home in Belfast, Northern Ireland; they look amazing. Well done Greg for highlighting this unique car. Love your channel.
I saw this car in a another video in passing, the video was featuring some other Japanese car. The 3 second picture they showed of this car made me stop the video and find out what this car is and now I'm here. This thing is gorgeous, it reminds me of a cross between a 356 and an original fiat 500. Thank you to both of you for showing this car.
I love mine. I've had classic Jags, BMWs, Mercedes, Vettes and others and none of them ever got the same amount of attention, and I just love the way it makes everyone smile.
Thank you for sharing about the Figaro, Greg! I fell in love with the car when my family and I lived in London for a short time. I've wanted one every since! I thought I'd get one on my 50th, but I guess I need to be patient a little longer . . . One day!!!
Great history lesson, quite a few bits of information that I didn't know about my wife's little car. Must get it back on the road in 2018. Three things I don't like about though, 1. the car is really just a 2+2 not a four seater, it's very uncomfortable in the back, 2. the CD is very unreliable, it jumps about a bit or just does not work and 3. it rusts. Great car.
Why cool cars like this don't catch on here in the states is baffling. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I invested in the Elio, but that seems to be sinking with my investment $$.
Just saw one of these this morning here in Overland Park, KS. I found this video when researching what it was. Just like you said, I thought it was a 60s Italian car!
Great video Greg! I’ve seen several features on this car and the Pao and the Scargo.....I don’t know what the forth one was? Nissan needs to revisit these types of cars (electric, maybe?) to prop up their lagging brand, at least in the USA.
Greg I love all your videos! Can you do a video on the 2007-2012 Lexus ES350? I’m trying to decide between that and the Genesis you informed me so well about!
I know about this car from car magazines in 90's, liked very much your video, even was first on search, specially the music but also surounding seems very much as French Provance ! Fascinating !
Looking at the design I was thinking that this must be from at least somewhere around 98 or maybe early 2000. But a 91? I think this is actually ahead of its time when looking at it. All that roundness all through the car reminds me of some of the late 90's and 2000's cars in general. Of course a closer look would give it away on some parts, like lighting. But a quick glance on a MCM video (from 2013) and someone saying "this is 20 years old" and I was like whaaat?
As I saw (didn't buy, more like window shopping) you can get them from a site called Duncan Imports, which sells many other JDM cars, Japanese mini trucks, and classic cars
I remember Mitsubishi dealerships promoted a "0-0-0 sale" in my area . Having a bit of knowledge of WW2 history...I thought to myself....how unfortunate. I learned to keep that idea to myself because seemingly no one else picked up on it.
I live in Roanoke, Va. And would like to see the collection of the guy in Christiansburg. Nissan had a beautiful design with this car. I can see how it influenced the design of coopers and fiats modern day. If you could put me in touch with him I would be grateful. Byron Penick
Love the styling and the interior is fantastic .. bring it to the USA .. I haven't liked a car style since the 1970s .. and what they make today is more akin to the insect world in style and appearance .. yuck! ... bring back those older lines and a chrome bumber and glass headlights, now that would be the cat 's meow.
How has he had it for 10 years five years ago? was it registered during that time? how? i thought 2016-2017 was the first year it was eligible as over 25 years old (being a 1991).
Max Jochem pretty sure you have no idea if I'm a girl or a guy. And it's 2018 if perhaps I were gay or weren't gay doesn't matter. But you using it in a negative connotation makes you a night and a homophobe. And usually it means you're probably still in the closet. Have a good day. It's ok if YOU are gay.
See a few in the UK. The first time I saw one I assumed it was a restored old Renault or something. I was not particularly impressed because restored 1950's cars of that sort of concept are quite common in the UK, such as Morris Minors and Beetles; they are not head-turners like they might be in USA. Surprised to learn later that they were more recent.
yeh, I've seen some here in Japan, since i arrived in 01. didnt know they were that special, just thought they were your average kei car. But hey, hope more people around get to know this car. Let me know and I'll ship the next one i see, over to you.
Sarah Webster as long as they are 25 yrs old. There are a few importers that keep JDM stock here stateside. Get with a reputable importer to find out all the ins and outs. If the car is going to be registered in California it has to meet California emissions standards which could increase your price by a few grand.
Datsun was the name Nissan chose to use when they first entered the US market and subsequently dropped in favor of their real corporate name Nissan. So Nissan did not “take over” Datsun.
Hey, great review of this auto. Any chance you know how I'd get in touch with the owner - I'm looking to purchase one and had lots of questions. If you're reading this, YourCarAngel, let him know. Thanks
Sir. Here is what I don’t understand. They had 280,000 orders? Why didn’t they just make them?? I know you said it’s a limited production car but that’s a LOT of money they passed on!!
Stumbled upon Japanese KEI trucks and vans and cars followed. Amazing that GM could not build something like this. They have the tools from Pontiac Soltic, Saturn Sky - great alternatives to hot selling Miata. A simple, clean classic design, not unlike '50s Corvettes, you'd think they have it in their parts bin. Could sell for $20k-$25k (market next to ho-hum Corolla, Civic, Jetta, Mazda 3) would be the Mustang type revolution
There's not "lots of these" anywhere. With only 12,000 made originally and with them being over 25 y/o, considering wrecks, fires and rust, maybe 5000 world wide. MAYBE.
Cool car. It would be even cooler if had about 290 horses under the hood, which would be enough to smoke a 458 Italia. Imagine the look on the Ferrari driver's face. :o

Andrew K. NZ,jdm mad,theres a few
yea thats nothing... here in australia they go for over $20k AUD.... thats over 15k USD.
Just seen one today in the same colour. They started coming into the UK in the late 2000's. It has one of the most luxurious interiors ever.
On a vacation to Ireland I stumbled upon one and now I’m in love. Can’t believe I hadn’t heard about it before then.
I had one in Belfast for 14 years until two weeks ago not a daily driver however.
This dude presentation style calms me down! Quite therapeutic!
Nate G so true! Cheers Dan

Yep me also
I didn't want this video to end. What a delight to watch. Amazing car and review. Thank you Greg!
I love mine. I've had classic Jags, BMWs, Mercedes, Vettes and others and none of them ever got the same amount of attention, and I just love the way it makes everyone smile.
Had never heard of this until regular can reviews, now I absolutely want one!!!!
My mother has one. It looks great, but it drives like a boat!
Thank you for sharing about the Figaro, Greg! I fell in love with the car when my family and I lived in London for a short time. I've wanted one every since! I thought I'd get one on my 50th, but I guess I need to be patient a little longer . . . One day!!!
And thank you, too, Chad!
Absolutely amazing video. Tip of the hat for you.

"it's just the cutest thing in the world-" AGREED.
I saw one this week on base in Norfolk, VA. Right hand drive and all.
Donald Wyatt cool. Actually they ONLY made right hand drive.
Why cool cars like this don't catch on here in the states is baffling. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I invested in the Elio, but that seems to be sinking with my investment $$.
You can buy them now here in states
I've wanted one of these for years but I'm currently getting along with my Micra :)
08-02-2020 just saw one of these driving in St Petersburg Fl. A beautifully maintained example. Looked brand new. What an eye catcher.
made me happy just watching the vid...
We just saw 2, 1 gray and 1 aqua at Frostbite restaurant in Frostproof, Florida. These were in mint condition. Really nice.
Thanks guys. A real treat. Can I say it ?
Nissan was building better cars back then.
Thank you for the video. I have the exact same car (same color and all) in Omaha (mine is called Jammie). It has been a blast to own!!! Go Figaro!
Just saw one of these this morning here in Overland Park, KS. I found this video when researching what it was. Just like you said, I thought it was a 60s Italian car!
It seems like car makers intentionally discourage cool design.
Great video Greg! I’ve seen several features on this car and the Pao and the Scargo.....I don’t know what the forth one was? Nissan needs to revisit these types of cars (electric, maybe?) to prop up their lagging brand, at least in the USA.
Excellent video thank you...I just saw one of these in Orlando Florida
Greg I love all your videos!

It looks like your driving up in the canyons beautiful up there i used to live in val verde just fun to watch
Great video from the Car Angel!
This geezer is nice to listen to his voice makes me feel calm
I saw one of these on the road today in Omaha, NE had no idea the story behind them thanks for the video.
Looking at the design I was thinking that this must be from at least somewhere around 98 or maybe early 2000. But a 91? I think this is actually ahead of its time when looking at it. I saw my first one today in Sydney, Australia ( Sylvania). I came here as I too had no idea of what I was looking at. 👍
I watched this video because i just saw one of these in Sydney Australia. Interesting to learn its history...
I wish they still made it, I might consider buying one if it were affordable enough and exported to the US.
it doesnt look old. it looks like a 2010's retro styled car. so cool.
Thanks, nice video! Japanese small cars are charm to drive. Wish those were popular in US!
xylus420. How an average American will enter this car? Av` am` weight much more then this 🚗
We just saw 2 in Frostproof, Florida in mint condition. 1 gray and 1 aqua.
Great video!!
As I saw (didn't buy, more like window shopping) you can get them from a site called Duncan Imports, which sells many other JDM cars, Japanese mini trucks, and classic cars
I saw an S- Cargo the other day here in NewJersey and was curious what it was and started googling Pike cars.. interesting stuff.
Looks like french Panhard Junior . Funny & beautiful car ! Video 👍
Wow! A rare beast even inside of Japan.
I remember Mitsubishi dealerships promoted a "0-0-0 sale" in my area . Having a bit of knowledge of WW2 history...I thought to myself....how unfortunate. I learned to keep that idea to myself because seemingly no one else picked up on it.
seen quite a few of them over the years in the UK
I remembered when Nissan's use to be called Datsun's back in the day when they were first sold in the U.S in 1958.
Mine arrives tomorrow. I can't wait!
littlecouchgames how much did you pay? Where from? Are you in the us?
Kristin John K I am in the US. I imported mine. It was $3200 plus customs and truck. Needs some work though.
There's one in Berkeley... in Spring Green
It isn’t true that the car was only made as a right hand driver. There IS a left hand driver figaro, I’ve seen it for sale online.
Don't say anything negative about "Her", "She" can hear you and may get "Her" feelings hurt!
This car is great! I Loved it!
The Crosley Sedan Convertible had that convertible configuration.
Watch out for rust. I had issues with the rear brakes and a leaky fuel filler to the gas tank. Otherwise, Figgie is very trouble free!
Just saw one of these in traffic on my way home from work. I live in SoCal.
I did a video on the green but man this grey looks good nice video
Is the break and acceleration petals the same as cars in America? I heard someone say that they could be switched
Great little car. Thumbs up.
Saw one today in San Antonio, Texas.
Only issue with these cars in the UK is with rust thanks to our crappy weather.
I live in Roanoke, Va. And would like to see the collection of the guy in Christiansburg.
Nissan had a beautiful design with this car. I can see how it influenced the design of coopers and fiats modern day.
If you could put me in touch with him I would be grateful. Byron Penick
Hmmm, … what an awesome design. More than Retro!
If you want to see a Figaro in a TV show, the Dr. Who spin off, The Sarah Jane Adventures, features one as the car Sarah Jane drives.
How do you get parts for this car ?
Love the styling and the interior is fantastic .. bring it to the USA .. I haven't liked a car style since the 1970s .. and what they make today is more akin to the insect world in style and appearance .. yuck! ... bring back those older lines and a chrome bumber and glass headlights, now that would be the cat 's meow.
I live in London and so desperately want this car but I’m only 21 and insurance for this car would be A LOT 😭
Right hand drive only sucks when you go thru a drive-thru or toll.
Was it on eBay?? I saw one this color about 10 years ago on Ebay.
Great video ~ very educational
How has he had it for 10 years five years ago? was it registered during that time? how? i thought 2016-2017 was the first year it was eligible as over 25 years old (being a 1991).
Is it possible to mod the frequency so that the radio can work in the U.S.?
Buy in amazon small cheap bypass device
Can we get Chad a bigger shirt?
Engineuity Youre Gaaaaay
Max Jochem pretty sure you have no idea if I'm a girl or a guy. And it's 2018 if perhaps I were gay or weren't gay doesn't matter. But you using it in a negative connotation makes you a night and a homophobe. And usually it means you're probably still in the closet. Have a good day. It's ok if YOU are gay.
Chad doesn't want a bigger shirt !! That downward glance @16:51 tells me Chad is there to show more than his car. :-D
I saw one on the road in malibu and was so confused!
See a few in the UK. The first time I saw one I assumed it was a restored old Renault or something. it sounds beautiful too.
Love the car hard to find

They made a 4 door one like an old school Jaguar as well
That would be kicking as well !
awesome little car!
Are we allowed to drive these in the States? I'm absolutely in love with it but keep seeing online that it's "blacklisted" :(
Sarah Webster as long as they are 25 yrs old. There are a few importers that keep JDM stock here stateside. Get with a reputable importer to find out all the ins and outs. I saw one of these on the road in Omaha Nebraska today.
www.duncanimports.com of Virginia has 125 of these listed for sale as of today.
Thanks
There’s one in Illinois for $3,500. By O’Hara airport
I saw one here in South Korea. Took me forever to figure what it was...
Sir. Here is what I don’t understand. They had 280,000 orders? Why didn’t they just make them?? I know you said it’s a limited production car but that’s a LOT of money they passed on!!
I'd get one if I can find one
Look up Duncan imports if you're in the states.
I just checked ebay motors and there are 3 for sale in the states right now.
Wholesome
1991 was when this dude bought that outfit.

by the way, is it legal to drive right hand drive cars in the US? thinking about shipping my 2000 320i when it turns 25 years old.
blackpassenger right hand is legal. But your car needs to be 25 years or older. Very rarely can you get one over here with less years
Think USPS. That's how we get a lot of mail delivered. Later on these get resold. They are here to stay.
@@freestyleskylineyeh, thats why in my comment, i stated that I plan on shipping the car to the US when it turns 25. one more year to go.
There is one for sale near me for $5,000.
Lots of these Figaros in New Zealand
There's not "lots of these" anywhere. With only 12,000 made originally and with them being over 25 y/o, considering wrecks, fires and rust, maybe 5000 world wide. MAYBE.
How can I get one in the US
My 89 Maxima had a factory CD player.
My 1955 Chevy has a factory CD. Sony made the player, in their factory.
Cool car. It would be even cooler if had about 290 horses under the hood, which would be enough to smoke a 458 Italia. Imagine the look on the Ferrari driver's face. :o
So much cooler than a Suzuki Cappuccino or a Daihatsu Copen.
This guy reminds me of Ian McCollum from Forgotten weapons
1500th view is mine! :)
Nissan need to do a remake of this car... With improvements
There are 46 Figaros on Ebay UK. but they are expensive. Ranging from £3500 to £15000. The £3500 one are probably in need of attention.
Whats a beautifull car, awesome
They need to make replicas of this thing
Oh nice, he basically stated that his car is illegal on the internet. Hope it doesn't get crushed, bro.
Just get a band expander, very cheap, and your radio will work.
