I drove a 2016 today at work and was baffled how fun it was. Effortless to shift, drive, drive fast. Corners nice. A little over steering. But I fell in love.
Jesse Hanson I really want an evo but this is so much cheaper seems great for the money and with my 3 year old I can't have the stiff suspension the evo does he would never sleep in the car
Mike Mauldin Yeah i think Evos are awesome but with a 3 year old i would get the wrx plus they are really good for safty and it will get way better gas mileage well if you dont floor it everywhere.

It is great to watch SUBARUWRXFAN reviewing a Subaru WRX. 😊 Good work, man! It is been a while since I subscribed but you kept me interested in your channel. 👍🏻
I'm loving my 2017 wrx so far! It's not perfect from the factory but for the money it's damn good. The handling is great, very confidence inspiring. With a few mods and a tune it will be even better!
@@cade7458 insanely reliable. I'm so excited, I'm at 99k miles and only 9 months left until she is paid off. Besides regular oil changes and trying to stay under 3,000 RPM, I don't have any other suggestions to maintaining it. For the record, I told the guy at the gym who drives an STI that I rarely go over 3k RPMs. He knows a lot more about cars than I do and he told me that I should try and go over that, so I have been. The problem is, I can get to the speed limit extremely fast before I had 3000 RPMs. So.... yeah. Idk what to do 😂
Love your videos. I actually bought my vinyl overlays from gtvinylz after watching your reviews. I'm not sold on the side marker overlays with a chrome headlight housing. Just looks kinda weird so I might take them off until I paint the housings. If you want to follow the progress on this car you can follow my channel. I just installed an ETS intake and will have a video of that soon.
My dad and stepmom either owned a 2017 WRX or a 2015 WRX. I got to drive it when they had it and it was a blast to drive. I absolutely loved it. I'm thinking of trading in my 2020 Si Coupe for a 2020 WRX STI. Can't wait to eventually own my own WRX someday.
Hawk eye is definitely my favorite. Honestly, though, I love the front end of this one. I"m just not a big fan of how sedans are getting really big and fat looking, like the Evo X. And i'm not a fan of the ass on the WRX, the STi wing definitely makes the difference to me. But again, I love this front end. It looks aggressive, but more refined.
+K24 best engine ever ! "Blah, blah, blah, looks like a Camry"' , with a hood scoop, wider fenders, black wheels, quad exauhst, aggressive looking rear diffuser, not to mention awd, torque vectoring, and a turbo. But other than that, you nailed it
I love the new WRXs. Definitely overall way better than the previous model and with a reflash with an access port you can fix the throttle lag. My 08 Si had that too until I reflashed it. The new wrx pretty much checks all the boxes I want, awd, 6 speed, decently spacious and decent power. Along with a great aftermarket and I love the look of it.
This review gives me so much hope! Looking to purchase a beautiful white 2017 premium, it hasn’t been tuned which is the beauty of it! I have a buddy that knows his stuff will get me hooked up with a Cobb tune and aftermarket parts to push it to 330hp and I’m so stoked!!! Saying good bye to the bikes for a safer way of transportation! Couldn’t be more excited!
Excellent review. Just picked up a 2017 wrx limited. Absolutely incredible car! Coming from a GTI I am thoroughly impressed. Actually like it better! Overall extremely happy and can't wait to rip it once it's broken in.
Thanks for the review. I just bought a 2017 WRX premium and was wondering about the difference between it and the previous models, so this was perfect!
Hes a goof the new wrx has a stiffer suspension than any previous gens ..his comments on how boost comes on show his lack of knowledge..its like he misses boost lag.. truth the wrx stock tune sucks but thats wat cobb ap is great an subaru has a huge aftermarket
I love this guy. Every video I've seen of him he always gets so excited when he floors it. You would think it might get less exciting after a while. I wish I had his job.
He's just enthusiastic about cars in general and the WRX in this particular video, he's not talking too fast in purpose as you might be thinking, at least he uses intonations and pauses, like human beings do. Try listening to the Russians reviewing cars and then you will truly understand what is a sped-up talking, it's more like robots,no intonations nor pauses at all throughout the entire video.
It seems a little dated compared to the competition though, like it needed a proper engineering update, but instead the have just updated bits and pieces like the ICE. I'd not even consider it when you can get something like the Focus RS that is a little more expensive but far more up to date - the rest of the world has kinda moved on & Subaru are just relying on the name for sales.
+Matthew Sharpe focus rs "a little more expensive"? Umm $10,000+ is a little? Not many people can own a $40k+ car. The 16-17 WRX is hands down the best car for a lil under $30K. Name a car that competes? Focus st? Naw youll die in those things with its NA suspension/FW drive, unreliable shit.
I have a '17 premium 6 speed as well, although mine is the white pearl. I did muffler deletes on mine and they definitely pop and crackle. I love the VA chassis.
I bought my 17 WRX Limited about a month ago. Love it. 1. I don't understand why people groan on about not having a hatch option. It keeps the final price lower at the end of the day because they're not having to manufacture two totally different cars. No ones ever gone on about how Mitsubishi never offered a hatchback Evo. I don't think this theme of styling would look good in hatch, I think it'd look awful. The last gen worked. This gen, it just wouldn't. 2. The clutch throw is indeed long, I wish it were shorter like the STi, and yea I didn't realize how long the shifter throws were gonna be, it's a lot different from the short throw shifter feel. But I can live with both of those with no issue, I still find the experience of getting in gear to be a pleasant one. But REV HANG. That is unforgivable. I kept thinking it was just me getting used to the clutch. But no. The revs hold way too long at any gear. Gives that jerky lurk forward motion going into second and third. It's unacceptable. I've learned to make it a smooth transition but I'm either having to accelerate off the line rather hastily, or econo box rolling. If I try to drive and shift at the comfortable rev and rate most people would like to shift, I have to burn up the clutch letting it slow and getting on the gas while the revs take forever to drop. Honda issued a tune on the Si. VW did too for the GTI. Subaru needs to release a flash for the ecu. Idc for the cat. Cheaper to replace a cat than it is a clutch.
Pioneer and Kenwood make several compatible models. Check out Crutchfield. They also have kits that allow the steering wheel controls to function with the upgraded head units.
nice to see the updates compared to my 2015, but i gotta say, I still hate the idea of touchscreen center consoles lol Call me old school, but i'll take my tactile, easy to navigate simple radio control anyday over these modern touchscreens. This coming from a 25yo tech nerd. Awesome reviews as always!
I traded in my 2015 Civic Si today for a 2017 WRX, same color and everything. The Si has a better headunit and I liked the keyless comfort access and lanewatch camera (the backup cameras on Hondas are also superior), however the drive is insanely superior on the WRX. I will never get FWD again, I was going to get the Type R but I cannot imagine putting that much power on a front heavy car, I work for BMW and love the BMW product but this is a lot of car for the money. Any suggestions on winter tires?
Good to see you had fun. I'm considering the 2017 Premium vs STI but I have to make a 700 kilometer decision without test driving. I sold my R33 Nissan Skyline I had for 12 years. I talked my father into getting the 2011 wrx(in 2011) instead of the MG diesel(2011) he was looking at. Shamefully Australian price's are stupid compared to elsewhere. Thanks for your video as it has helped my broaden my view.
Glad you found one, now I don't have to let you use mine like I was offering. :) Hopefully it has some miles on it as the ECU has a very-very steep and significant learning curve for making consistent power and hitting proper boost.
If anyone would like to follow the progress on this car feel free to subscribe to my channel. I have many more plans for it and will be making videos along the way. Just installed an ETS intake which I will have a video up soon showing that. Thanks!

I am thinking about upgrading from my 16 Elantra VE to a WRX Premium. I want more Power and Torgue with AWD. I live in MN and I have been driving for 10m and I am tired of the slow Elantra VE. I need something fast and can cut through snow. If I buy one you bet I will be making modifications.
Getting back into reviewing performance cars I see 👍. I can tell you enjoy driving them a lot more than the average car review. Seemed to be having fun in this one!
Subaru has fallen off. People are getting bored of the same shit year after year. I had a 2015 and loved it, but just costs too much money to make decent power in these cars so I traded it for a 1LE. I wanted a new Sti but I am not buying anything else from Subaru until they get a new powerplant in those cars that is pushing some decent power.
+stirange More like 26k and nobody buys a stripper WRX. Most are 28k and up. So for almost 30k Subaru can at least fix the awfully cheap interior. If Kia can make a decent interior I think Subaru can too
Yea, I know. My wife has a 2017 Forester. We had a 2015 Crosstrek and I had a 2015 WRX. I don't dislike the brand, but as far as performance goes, WRX and STI platforms are stale. No argument about that even from diehard Subaru guys I talk to.
1150 miles on 2017 WRX base model and love it. only two things bother me first the head lights not bright enough, and the speakers, they sound like as if you connected little speakers to your cell phone and then put the speakers under water, nothing that can not be upgraded. NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR MY WRX
Getting my wrx 2017 tom. Bought it for 23k$ only 20k mileage. This is my first subaru car. Hope i made the right decision. Im really loving it now though.i hope it doesnt give me headache lol im just using it every weekends

Rally blue is the color subaru is known for in rally, and they look great in real life.
The darker colored ones are fire

Maybe don't mainline the Red Bulls before getting in front of the camera next time.
I've had a 16 limited in that color for a year now and still love it
Wish someone would do one with a CVT. I've always wanted to see how it performs.
+Vikk 54 I've heard it's less than impressive.
cvt is not even worthy of being an option to an enthusiast. Autos are fine, cvt is the problem
+subaruwrxfan I've heard the same, as most CVT's are, I'd just like to see how it does in tests.
TJ Hunt reviewed one. Go check out his channel.

That new intro is FIRE!!!!
That car is beautiful but those puma shoes bro.......eww
Awesome intro Matt!!!! Really like it, keep it like that for awhile!!!
Why would Subaru put a CVT in this monster?
Maybe want to reach to a different audience idk lol.
because Subaru want to move numbers, like it or not most of the people can't drive stick nor care to learn stick.
260hp monster?
it's a monster in its own way, sharp handling, feels way quicker than it has a right to be with only 268hp, gearing are pretty aggressive, it's every much enthusiast car. Not perfect but pretty good for under $30k
+Vanneker it's well over 30k lmao. At some point it's really not worth it

The WRXfan on a WRX. Been waitin for that introduction. Great review of course :)
As long as the fanboys continue to buy Subaru half assed WRX they will not change
+stirange More like 26k and nobody buys a stripper WRX. Most are 28k and up. So for almost 30k Subaru can at least fix the awfully cheap interior. If Kia can make a decent interior I think Subaru can too
+TEETEE BIRD Because I can. If you don't like my comments then don't read them. That's life people don't always say what you want to hear
Yea, I know. My wife has a 2017 Forester. We had a 2015 Crosstrek and I had a 2015 WRX. I don't dislike the brand, but as far as performance goes, WRX and STI platforms are stale. No argument about that even from diehard Subaru guys I talk to.
Wrx sti with 360 hp will cost $41000
bruh i didn’t know the nameless axle back was that loud even with it being stock, super hyped to get my wrx
Preparation H yeah stereo is worst I've ever heard. overhaul in the works now
You sold me my 2017. Thanks for the review Matt!
just bought a 17 and you review it, spot on!
if they had a shirt that said now let's turn into this back road here. i would buy it in a second 😂
Is the car fun, though?
My WRX is coming from Alabama to Chattanooga. Can't wait to drive her.
Wow, was not expecting that intro! Very very well done!
And one more thing. First-ever time for you review a 2017 model-year car. Congrats to you! 🙂
His face when he gets to open it up Dead ASF!!! I feels though
YOU"LL ALWAYS BE SUBARUWRXFAN TO ME!!!
great review, I was wondering about new wrx.. I have an 08 with 140,459 miles and still going strong..
I have the nameless axle back muffler deletes too! Excellent mod for the money and you can install them right in the drive way!
Getting my wrx 2017 tom. Bought it for 23k$ only 20k mileage. This is my first subaru car. Hope i made the right decision. Im really loving it now though.i hope it doesnt give me headache lol im just using it every weekends

You know you're driving in Pennsylvania when you hit potholes every 3 feet.
