Carlos Ferrer's aim is to make a feature-length version with the approval of Disney
In the hope to entice Disney to approve his proposal to make a feature-length live-action take on their property Gargoyles, award-winning filmmaker Carlos Ferrer has shot a - very impressive - short fan film featuring the characters from the Greg Weisman created series (1994 to 1997).
Ferrer directed, edited, animated and scored the fan film, which features characters from the Walt Disney Television Animation and Buena Vista Television series. Like the original animated series - hailed as one Disney's most ambitious animated series, targeting an older demographic - it tells of a clan of heroic night creatures who pledge to protect modern New York City as they did in Scotland long ago.
Ferrer is an award-winning American filmmaker with over fifteen years experience in production and storytelling.
At the age of sixteen, he directed over one hundred cast and crew members on a feature-length film that later won “Best Student Feature” at the Long Island Film Festival. Ferrer studied Film at SUNY Purchase College, graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts & Film. His credits include the 2016 film Retina and short film The Popcorn Man.
Good job. Im really surprised Disney hasn't revisited this series and turned this into a movie franchise...the storyline and lore was so deep.

Jordan Peele actually wants to make one, but Disney said no for some reason.
Funny thing about that, Disney announced a handful of years ago now (before all the dvds released) they were gonna make a gargoyles movie...then added it wouldn't have anything to do with the series of the same name. And us fans of course flipped out and they backpedaled. A fan group on Facebook was formed and eventually we had call flood event days calling in to the disney service line asking about gargoyles season 2 part 2 release (a ton of us did those calls, and we ended up getting the rest of the series on dvd). A bit later on Jordan Peele showed interest in directing a film adaptation as a fellow fan, but Disney has been silent. BUT over the course of the last two years, and the popularity of the show when Disney plus launched (it was the number 1 streamed title for a long while) we started getting more toys and collectible stuff. I hope the series at least continues through the SLG Comics tbh. At least that could be a proper season 3. Take care yall

I loved the show! I remember watching a tape that had all five episodes of the first season, and it also had a board game feature including it. It was an awesome experience! To see that show in a movie would be nostalgic!

The first movie HAS to take place in medieval days. You can’t just skip 1000 years after a 20 minute intro.
This is the type of movie where it HAS to be story driven. A 5 movie deal. No extra explosions for each iteration. Just keep it deep, dark, and real. And if the voice over isn’t done right then forget about it.

on one hand it still boggles my mind that Disney doesn't even want to really touch this. I know it's a painful reminder of what was going on with Disney studios that nearly destroyed their entire franchise gargoyles came out around the time Disney was having a big shakeup. A lot of people ended up being fired or quitting where they decided were going to go in a nonviolent family-friendly direction and started pumping out really cheap horrible animated properties turmoils was one of the shows that got canceled for being a combination of controversial violent expensive and all sorts of other issues, such as from what I understand the toys were doing that great. Big reason why the show got canned though was Disney's decision to go in a new direction which led to Disney itself merely going bankrupt after a few years still blows my mind there such a financial juggernaut now amnd . Not that long ago there was talk about them closing down theme parks and filing for bankruptcy. With everything that's getting rehashed and brought back, I figured gargoyles would've been done two or three years ago, whether it be a new cartoon series or a live-action film. My one fear is there going to do gargoyles, all right, but it's going to look like Kim possible or worse, if they're going to do it as a animated property it should at least have a decent quality animation like the original series and not look like another one of these cookie-cutter children's drawing seizure inducing flash nightmares. Don't get me wrong Kim possible isn't a horrible cartoon but the animation style just makes me grind my teeth and so many other Disney cartoons are guilty of being so much worse pieces of animated trash when it comes to the art style. If we see gargoyles come back. We definitely don't want to see it being some water down sugar pop preschool children's afternoon saying that anybody over the age of three. Can't stand where the current oils live in a park in New York and sleep on top of the carousel and come out at night Like the care Bears doing things for little kids, teaching things like bullying is bad. We want to see the show look like Batman the animated series back in the 90s, at least. Let's be honest with everything they're doing in today's animation. This could really be a very powerful well-written thing or it could be a huge dumpster fire. I really like the way this came out as a live-action concept what was shown did look very similar to the original series . Admittedly the police officer, female did look a little bit forced to fit into the original style of the show, but the rest of it was pretty decent and solid. We've seen with the new ninja turtles live movies. What could be done with gargoyles and hopefully that's not having anybody rolled their eyes and go oh, dear God. I'm trying to refrain from mentioning the Transformers because on one hand it's great, but on the other hand, let's be honest, Michael Bay really twisted that and didn't really respect what it was. We can only imagine what a live-action gargoyles movie would look like with the kind of budget they threw at a live-action Transformers movie in regards to the look of the characters while being Close to their parents in the animated series being more polished and realistic to some regard without going completely opposite direction like they did with Transformers. At least with the ninja turtles It's still closer to the source material, especially in appearance. I can only imagine how much work went into this and somebody did a really nice job.

Why isn't this a real thing?! With Disney remaking everything from Aladdin and The Lion King as a live-action film they need to remake Gargoyles and do it like this! Keeping that same gothic feel that made the original cartoon soooo good! :=)

Disney can't put they're money grubin' mitts on Gargoyles any more. Greg Wiseman is the sole owner. Took him a 10 year legal battle, but he won! You can thank Bob Iger for killing what could have been a 25 to 30 season franchise, over the corse of 6 shows.

So, this was impressive to an extent but being the fact that Gargoyles was one of my all time favorite shows when I was growing up and still is, I can honestly say that Goliath's proportions are way off, which in turn makes him look more strange than imposing. He's far too short and his limbs need to be much longer. I recommend that to whomever made this, that they find a front and side screen capture of Goliath from the television series and load it into whichever 3d modeling program that is being used as a transparent layer and rebuild the Goliath model around that as a reference. The CGI could use a little work but based on the fact that I have no actual experience myself, I can still say that this certainly exceeded my expectations.
