Hi Helen! Greetings from Southern California! I am second generation Vietnamese American who has been experimenting with recipes at home so I could cook for my family instead of taking them to Vietnamese restaurants. I want them to love Vietnamese cuisine as much as me and food made at home with love is just more flavorful and enjoyable. I tried this recipe over the weekend and my family LOVED IT! It was juicy and tasty just like you said! I can't wait to try more of your recipes! My only criteria for recipes is that it must be quick and easy and this was perfect! Thank you so much again!!! My family has already asked for a repeat!
I have tried deep frying on high heat before, and the wings turned golden brown too fast while the inside was not cooked through. Some other cooks suggest blanch/poach the wings before deep-frying but it is rather time-consuming. In the end I decided that the method in this video worked best for me :) Thanks for sharing your thoughts anyway :)
I made your wings for family dinner tonight and words cannot describe how delicious their were, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside with the right balance of sweet and salt. Not to mention they're feast for the eye. As a native Hanoian I thank you for making these very useful videos.:)
Very detailed. Like how to lay the chicken in cold oil in the pan. Also not to overcook the fish sauce sauce. Lots of people would have left those details out. Can't wait to try this one as well.
Helen. Woman, you are teaching me to reconnect with my culture through food. Your cooking closely resembles my mom's so it reminds me of home. I take pictures of my cooking to show her and she's in absolute delight that I'm learning how to cook more Vietnamese dishes! I'll end my rant by saying, I made these and it is sublime. So freaking good. Very crispy, not too salty or overpowering with fish sauce at all. Thank you and please always keep cooking. Maybe post more veggie dishes because I'm old and need more healthy things in my life. =) Thanks!
Hi Helen! I've been living in Saigon for two years now, and I've tried this dish many times at various restaurants. Your recipe is better than anything I have tried here by miles. I was skeptical about whether the chicken wings would stay crispy after dipping them in the nước chấm. Boy, was I wrong. Thank you for sharing this amazing, world class recipe.
Another great recipe Helen! Just the way my Vietnamese mother in law fries her wings but the fish sauce made it soooo tasty. My family loved it, made it last night!!
I tried this yesterday, the hot wings absorbed the flavor from the sauce and it was very delicious. My husband liked it. Thanks! Look forward to your other recipes.
Im so glad I found your channel. Im korean but grew up with viets and I love viet food probably more than korean food and ill be using tons of your recipes.
I love all your recipes! It's been a sucess everytime I follow them. You make it so easy too! For us that love vietnamese food, but are not . Thanks you Helen!
Helen, thanks much for your videos... I've already tried your recipes and they all turned out very delicious even thought sometimes I didn't have enough spices in hands! Highly appreciate your works ^^
I have been making these almost every other day..my daughter loves them..everybody in the house love them soo much. Thanks Helen for sharing this amazing chicken wings recipe. Thumb uuuup!
thank you for giving out the delicious recipe "Canh ga chien nuoc mam", and for sharing it out with the best dish through your final testings and experiences. I will do it your way!
Thanks, I am really liking your videos here in Alaska. Love Vietnamese food and we have no restaurant where we live. And I agree with imdchang, it's nice to see a pretty face once in a while to match that pleasant voice. Trying the Com tam suon nuong today, and wings next.
Helen can you share a recipe for deep fried yam with shrimps? thanks for all your recipes I've tried a few of them and it turned out perfect!! you are a great cook and young too!!
Those wings look delicious (and so are you in a different way)! I will try your recipe this weekend but won't tell my wife I got it from you on UA-cam.
I did exactly what you said, turn out awesome. I also fried some garlic in the butter, then drizzled it on top of the chicken to make "Canh ga` chien bo* " for my husband 'cause he couldn't eat "nuoc mam". You should try it, very yummy.
you are the best chị Helen ơi :D Em rất vui khi thấy series video như vậy, thế là tuần tới e có động lực nấu những món ngon VN thay vì ngày nào cũng pizza rồi :PPPPPPP
Hello! I followed your recipe exactly how it is and my family loved it! There were no leftovers and we ate it with white rice. I will make it again, thank you for sharing your recipe!!!!! And you are right, cooking fish sauce will stink up your house and I am glad you didn't do that! Lol
Helen, can you tell me where you got your pestle? I like how sturdy and heavy it looks and have seen you use it to smash things like lemongrass and whatnot. I would like to get something sturdy like that.
To my experience, prep works and cooking with lot of love are two essential elements which can't be missed to produce a great dish. Meditating with a smile while doing a "time consuming" preparation will keep you forever looking young and beautiful as you are. Can't wait for your new vid.. Keep up your great work. How about a video for "Tre' ".
Johan E Fish sauce is the same for Vietnam and Thailand unless if you're using Anchovy paste, then that's a no no for this dish.. damn, I'm hungry now.
When I am Vietnam I have Canh Ga Chien Nuoc Mam at least once a week. I have not been able to travel to Vietnam for three years now, thanks to Covid, and have been cooking them. Recently the Vietnamese store started to carry Red Boad Nuoc Mam from Phu Quoc and the difference in taste between it and the fish sauce I was using before is WOW. I tried you receipe and it is so good... When I am not sure how to cook something Vietnamese it is your receipes I look for.
This recipe is amazing! I LOVE the sauce; the dish in total was just an instant hit with me! Very easy to make, & very flavorful! Highly recommend this one!! Thanks for sharing :)
