loving your channel! I'm 17 and only this year started to teach myself to mix, no equipment just yet so everythings being done solely on the laptop. It feels limiting to an extent as i'm not familiar with keyboard shortcuts for one but i'm confident. Your experience and knowledge is clearly evident, so i'm taking some tips for when I buy myself some equipment hopefully this summer!
Make sure that all the settings on your mixer (bass, mid, treble, effects) are the same for both channels before you switch from deck 2 to deck 1 with the crossfader. Otherwise the sound will not be the same. I did this, but forgot to mention it. Big shout out to King Solo for the reminder!
Hey DJ TLM. I really should thank you for this video. I bought some turntables on Black Friday and within a month one of the wires on one of the headshells broke. If it wasn't for the facts that I had seen this video I probably would've panicked. But thanks for saving my sanity
I don't use a special shortcut for instant doubles. Once you enable instant doubles in the setup menu, all you have to do is load the same song that's playing on one deck into the other deck

A pro dj told me, an up coming dj never to bring out two turntables cuz its a waste of time. I use serato but like to dj with both ttbs so i can market myself and look professional. What do you think about that? Even though its down to preference... can i still do all thoes with one ttb even after i fix the other one? I'm a new dj, and marketing and presentation is important to me now. Would be very glad if you could answer.

Hey TLM or to whom it may concern. I have a small issue. I am learning how to use Instant Doubles and I am trying to monitor the process through my laptop without the audio system. I can hear the relative deck through my mixer (Numark M6 USB) but I can't hear the internal deck after. Would there be a problem with my setup connections with hardware or with my laptop audio properties set up? Thank you very much in advance.
I also seen this by Chicago dj. He was doing it on his left turn table and he didn't have right turn table. At top of Serato u can click on cross USB bottom to dj a sit and scratch to

Hey TLM! Nice video once again. I'm interested in getting myself a DVS setup. Would you recommend going for just a rane mixer or going for a rane sl2 and an inexpensive scratch mixer for Serato? I think if I go with Traktor Scratch I could probably just get the Z2 but I want to know what's the better option for Serato if I'm now starting out.
cheers for that. My problem is that I can't make it work with real vinyl. Like I put all the settings on my numark scratch mixer on line/pc and Serato on through but it doesn't work out. Does anyone have a solution for that? cheers in advance
djTLMtv Wuss good brah. First let me say that the purpose for me using just one side of the deck is so that I can continuously mix in a song with my right (scratching) hand. I tried it on Serato DJ (with my Mickdeck) and it would not allow me to do it the exact way you did because Serato DJ 1.6 (or other version with the Mixdeck) does not have a Relative mode or Internal mode. So what I have to do is turn on the instance double, Load the song on deck B scratching hand and then load the same song on deck A then move the cross fader over to deck A and then load deck B with the next song I want to mix. Still works for me. Thanks brah for the sharing.
In Traktor all you have to do is load the track to one deck, have the other side playing internally, and then load the track to the other side. There is a setting you have to change though, go to the Loading tab and make sure "Duplicate deck when loading same track" box is checked. Then you should be good, and able to do this same thing.
The song on the internal deck is playing, but there is no sound on that channel on the mixer? If the track is playing in the deck and everything is connected the right way you should hear the track. Channel fader is up? Is the channel on the mixer set to the right input to send out the sound from Serato? I'm trying to think of things that could be causing the problem
thank you for answer. yes I have the right chanel of the mixer going tru line 2 in serato the only thing that I thoug its that I have to connect the turn table thru serato swiching the colors wires cuz I gues this table were repair and they swich it, I appreciate you help
Bro this ain't working for me. :-/ I followed your steps 100%. The "duplicated" song looks like its playing in the virtual Deck, but theres absolutely no reaction on the Mixer (Vestax)... so when i move the crossfader theres no sound. Worse part is, i already did it succesfully many years ago, and now that i started again, it doesn't work. I don't know what the difference is.

Yes, this trick works with any mixer, turntable or cd player because it's done inside the Serato software.

You can put one deck on internal and just press the L/R button at the top I find much easier..
I actually really like to mix this way because it keeps my setup tidy.

One of my goals for 2017 is to fix a Traktor setup and learn everything about it so I can do some Traktor vids for you guys
In Traktor all you have to do is load the track to one deck, have the other side playing internally, and then load the track to the other side. There is a setting you have to change though, go to the Loading tab and make sure "Duplicate deck when loading same track" box is checked. Then you should be good, and able to do this same thing.

Does this apply with phase?
Yes. It's a feature in the DJ software so that works with or without Phase. All Phase does is send you information about the movement of the vinyl
Dj LTM, will this work the same similar way with Virtual DJ as well??
I haven't tested it with VDJ, If VDJ has the instant doubles feature it should be possible

Yes, this is a trick that you can apply when you’re using DJ software and one of the players is not working
