How do they do reservations for dinner? Do they take ID or Name? Same for when you get drinks. Do you just give the bartender the room number? Or how does that work there? Thanks 🙂

Y'all convinced us that Sandals Resort is definitely worth it. We love the semi-private pool. The Rabbit Hole is a hidden gem. Southern Table food looks so delicious. It was hilarious watching him rack up the beach. Amazing footage!

The fact that there’s an upcharge for room service is wild to me. I’m not aware of any other resort at this price point that does this.
Yea, it's unfortunate that it's not included with all room types. However, it is free for club level and above rooms.

Currently researching Sandals resorts. Were the Ochi rooms contemporary or modern? They look contemporary and I prefer modern.
We have been to many different Sandals resorts on the different islands and our personal favorite is the Sandals Royal Plantation in Ocho Rios. Best service, small hotel with access to the other Sandals resort next door. Amazing staff. Feels like home. Thanks for the great video!

@@MaysFamilyTravels Hi guys🤗Sandals Royal Plantation is so lovely, but it's quite old fashioned. The beaches in there are bigger and better than these at Sandals Ochi and the number of clients is quite low, because there are only 74 suites in the whole hotel. It's so relaxing. We went to Ochi once and they gave us "an upgrade" - a suite in the Butler's Village, but it was the very first building off the busy road and there were golf carts driving past all the time plus our room wasn't renovated and had very drab colors and no balcony - so we said "Thanks, but no thanks" and requested just a room at the Riviera section, in the area closer to the Hidden pool. There are 3 rooms in there in a bungalow right behind the pizzeria. The Hidden pool was just couple of steps away from our door and it was wonderful and private. I remember that I was touring that resort first back in 1995 and noticed these three rooms by that pool - made a mental note then. It was lucky for us that one of these rooms were available. A large renovated room with a huge balcony. As for Sandals in Barbados - we went there 4 years ago and it was amazing. I would highly recommend that one and the one in Antigua. Woo Hoo! Thanks for watching. We definitely said we needed to take couples trip there. Unsolicited advice: I would get all couples to book a cabana at the main pool as soon as you arrive. They are reasonably priced and you get it all day, with a butler that brings you food and drinks. It was kind of a hassle getting up to make sure you had a spot to put your stuff at the pool. Not sure if you watched the rest of the videos, but there is one that shows our cabana experience. Have fun!

Third, Ive been to Sandals Ochi three times. Ive actually stayed in that villa you guys were at. I love Ochi even though it is not one of the newer properties. I hope you guys can make it Sandals Royal Barbados and Sandals Grande St. Lucia.

I went to beaches when i was younger. It was next level all inclusive. Compared to like a Riu you defo see the difference in food choice and drinks to say but a few

I added comments to a lot of the comments below, but I thought I would share a separate one here just to be sure it gets seen. I know we watched videos from guests prior to booking our trip so I am hoping this info helps others. We have stayed at 4 other Sandals and this is our least favorite. We were there a week ago and stayed on the hillside with butler service. I mention several issues in my other comments, but I think the two issues that really stood out to us were the HOP bus between the two parts of the resort and the attitude of the employees. You cannot walk from on part of the resort to the other avoiding the bus is not an option. The seats were so small that even when a slender couple was seated their shoulders and knees were in the aisle. The aisle was super narrow, even skinny people struggled. I am a curvy girl (size 18 for reference) and I could not get down the aisle of the bus without turning sideways and having my bottom and stomach or chest rub against the people already seated. Definitely uncomfortable. More of an issue was the staff. In all our other Sandals trips we would be greeted by everyone you passed, at the very least a smile and a nod. Everyone seemed happy to be there and excited to help you enjoy your vacation but that was not our experience at Ochi. We had bartenders that would just walk up to you and stare even if you said hello. After ordering a drink there was no acknowledgement, just simply walk away, prepare the drink, walk back, set it in front of you, and walk away again. (The only friendly bartender we saw all week was accepting tips - and those were the ones who got good service.) The wait staff at restaurants left us sitting for long periods of time without refilling water and wine - even when we asked and placed the empty glasses near the edge of the table to get their attention. Our luggage was misplaced our first night and my husband was directed to look around the outside of the villa to see if it had been placed by a different door. When it was found and delivered an hour later there was no apology. The resort had many maintenance issues that needed to be addressed as well. It just wasn't a true Sandals experience. I don't know if all Sandals have declined over the years or if this is resort specific but at this point, we have to say it was not worth the price.
Hey its unfortunate you had that experience. It was the opposite of ours and will be visiting again after we go to some of the other Sandals resorts.

I just got back from there this past Saturday "16 Oct". I was in 7331 the Romeo and Juliet rooms. Hands down a great place with great people. We are going to Beaches in Jamaica next September so the kids can have some fun. While there we will schedule for the year after. We are hooked!

We were there last week so a couple more tips. The best steak was at the French restaurant and the breakfasts there were wonderful too! Don't overlook Soy, great sushi, we enjoyed it much more than the Hibachi place. Take your insulated cup from home and the bartenders will make your drinks in them so they stay cold and they are much bigger. Ask your butler to hook you up with a cooler of bottled water and beer each day for your time at the pool. Having the water right there makes it a lot easier to stay hydrated. The butler will bring you lunch pool side but ask in the morning and give a set time. The time we waited till about 11am to request lunch he didn't get it to us for 2 hours.

Sandals resort are beautiful and most of the time the service is on point. It’s just the food is terrible and I’ve been to several other resorts and all of them taste bland for the amount of money you are paying if they can fix that they would truly be a five star resort, it is a 3 1/2 at best

We are definitely going to experience that. And I am glad we chose to stay at RP instead. Ochi has too much loud music for my tastes. A little I can tolerate. Ok update: Sorry we did not enjoy Jamaica at Sandals. Let me say we did stay in the Riviera side (Seaside: which means it is where the beach is located vs the Hillside which has no beach area).
Pros: liqour in the room, club downstairs good music after hours
Cons: inconsistent staff attitudes (some speak most dont).
Activities: were shutdown except 2/7 days due to weather ( not their fault).
Entertainment on both sides was subpar to other resorts, such as the Hard Rock resort.
Room staff inconsistent with cleaning times had to be reminded.
Room service time stopped at 10pm.
Covid test: had to remind the concierge.
Wifi was hit or miss..
Definitely not high class for the money a rip off to me. Pick another resort next time.

@@antonioczar3056 We have done several Sandals over the years and Ochi was not the same quality of the others by a long shot. We were disappointed with much more than we were happy with. We are following up with Sandals but they may have lost long time customers for the reasons you mentioned and more.

Hi thank you so much for the feedback we secured pool seats every morning. I think they were overwhelmed because housekeeping wasn’t that great our room wasn’t cleaned twice - I thought it was due to COVID still but my Butler asked if we rejected housekeeping we said no we didn’t. Towel was not provided daily or face clothes. We even had an issue with the Southern Table - they served my husband a piece of bitten into fried chicken 🫤Question, have you gone to any other sandals resorts?
Glad you got those seats! Wow they must be experiencing staff shortages a bit, we had our room cleaned everyday in 2021. We have experience a few other regular hotels not have housekeeping unless we asked. Didnt think Sandals would have that. Sorry to hear about your experience at the Southern Table! Yes we went to the Grand St. Lucian in St. Lucia and I think we will look for the Royal Carribean next.

How far was the walk from the butler village to the ochi beach side?
@@ms_mone our walk was bout 5 -7 minutes down the hill to get to the Hop bus. It takes about 10 minutes for the bus to arrive, then they take you over to the ochi beach side
@@MaysFamilyTravels Ah right. I’m staying there next month in butler village and we wanted to stay at the bars late in the evening. Would it be too long to walk back after the hop ends?
@@ms_mone yes we thought the exact same thing, having to leave the beach bar early was not fun, but we ended up with Alcohol and the pool in our room so that made up for it. It might be tough to walk as it's made like two separate resorts. On the bus, they drive you across the street, and upon entry they have to lift the gate. But I imagine they will have a system for people that prefer to walk. I would say it would be about 15-20 minutes walking. But if you have a butler, you can always call them to pick you up on a golf cart and drive you around.

We hate it when hotels allow guests to reserve sun beds by placing towels on them from early morning. We have experienced guests reserving sun loungers and then going out on an excursion for the day knowing that they had a sun lounger waiting for them when they got back. Utterly selfish behaviour which the hotel should stop by removing items from sun loungers that have been left vacant for more than one hour. It would also stop that horrible early morning mass rush to get sun loungers 😰
That is sooo true! We saw soo many people just put a towel down and it seemed like they would never come back. Eventually, others would just tell the pool attendant or move it themselves. But I agree, there has to be a better system of getting the sun loungers,

Thank you! I hope you have a blast. Sorry but that is a great question. I "think" you can charter their boat for deep sea fishing but not totally sure. The general chat on the main sandals page is usually a good resource for us. But If not at the resort, we have been told that Sandals owns Island Routes excursions, and they list Deep Sea Fishing on their site. www.islandroutes.com Have fun!
Was the ride to the resort from the airport fairly smooth or more windy/up and down? I get car sick and am a bit nervous about it and can’t seem to find a clear answer.
Hi Rose, the drive from the airport to the resort was very smooth. It was flat and I don't remember a lot of curves. I suffer from motion sickness as well, so I definitely understand. Thank you for watching!

I just had a question in this video you said something about what if somebody comes up and steals your book or takes your chair and says it was theirs, what do you do? Is that something that happens, or are people respective about other people's property there? I'd love to know what your experience was and what you witnessed. My husband and I are going to sandals ochi on January 29th. We've never been to a resort of any kind so we're super excited!!

Congrats you are going to love it. Well that was just a thought I had lol. It hasn't happened in any of the resorts that I have been to (that we know of), but it could. Since you are going to a resort I definitely suggest waking up early, getting towels and finding seating under shade, they go fast. Usually people just claim them by leaving towels out, but I have seen people move the towels if someone is gone to long. I would suggest going to Walmart/Target and purchasing some cheap beach towel clips so that your towel stays on the seat. The good thing about Sandals is you can rent a cabana if you have extra money. Its shaded and they bring your food and drinks.
We never had a problem with anyone taking or moving our stuff. We would grab chairs right before breakfast and leave the towel with a hat on it.

Will have a video on the room and excursions shortly. We didn't tip on Sandals resorts, but Im sure the Butler will take both Jamaican and US. We tipped US went we went on our excursions.

We've only visited Sandals Ochi in Jamaica. We've also visited Sandals Grand St. Lucian in St. Lucia and loved it as well. Both were unforgettable vacations!

Hi, my fiance and I are arriving in May. We heard the resort is full of Cats! Were they roaming in all the areas? Beach, restaurants, near the rooms? Thanks!
Congratulations you are going to have a blast, near of us remember at Cats. We felt like the resort was very clean.
Yes, the cats were everywhere. We had to clap to get them off our patio anytime we went out. One day we had 7 around our pool area. They also stroll around the outdoor restaurants during meal service. We never saw any feces but there were a ton of cats.
Do you remember how long the walk was from your room to the ?
Hey Trinity! If you're asking about the walk from our room to the main lobby area, it was probably a 5 minute walk.
If you have a butler room you can call them and they will promptly pick you up in the golf cart and take you to your room. If your butler is gone (after 8 or 10pm) there are shuttles that run up the hill on a regular basis. You should never have to wait more than 10 minutes. We enjoyed the walk down the hill each morning before breakfast.
Hi how did you feel about the food. Was it typical resort food?
Hi well we loved Sandals food. Our taste are Southern US tho so we loved the Souther Table restaurant, we at there for breakfast most days,( it was buffet) and the Italian place (cook to order). For dining it's all Cook to Order. We at at the Seafood restaurant twice. We missed the Sushi place cause it was booked. Other than that is average poolside stuff for lunch like pizza, burgers, etc. But we weren't there all the times cause we ate while we were on excursions some days.
The buffet and burgers and pizza were all pretty typical resort food. I ate a lot of fish at dinners and found it to be pretty good but very similar restaurant to restaurant. The French restaurant was our favorite and the sushi place was good too. We did enjoy the tapa place for lunch.

@@jamdawgutube I said nothing negative. If you know about Sandals Resorts at all, you know there's been long standing jokes about the "Dreaded Eviction Notice" I'll simplify it more. It means another great vacation is coming to an end and you don't want that reminder under your door after dinner/night out. Trust me I know about the luxury all inclusive 5⭐ Sandals Resorts.. been going at least once a year since 2009. I had nothing but admiration for the vlog. My comment was all humor. Sandals do not worth it. I stayed there at Montego Bay and it just over priced. I had a better time at Riu. Not only that the staff at Sandals Montego Bay is rude.
Oh sorry to hear that. We thought the price was reasonable and the staff both times we went were great. We learned they are building a new RIU in Montego Bay so we cant wait to visit that one.
