I wish! It’s my dream job. School is so expensive and requires so much time. I can’t go to school being a working adult who can barely make ends meet as it is.

I started schooling for hairstyling last week after three years of trying to get into the program, your videos are always so inspiring, and the timing for this video was perfect. Thanks for all you do (also my instructor loves you too! You've come up in class)
Yasssss for the education point! The best advice I got from older stylists was to go to the cheapest school bc the real learning is in the salon. Now like 10 years down the line I’m so glad I did that
I’m not a hairstylist or going to school for it but I really appreciate this outlook. School is great and one learns a lot but the real learning starts on the job.

Becoming a hairstylist is such a dream for me. (I want to be a colorist more than anything.) My family has always looked down on me for this, but someday it will be my reality. No one is living my life for me so no one has the right to tell me how I should be living it. Thank you for this video, also I love your jacket! 😊💕
Good for you👏👏I wish I hadn’t let other people’s opinions of me and what I wanted to do put me off but you sound like you have exactly the right attitude to get to where you need to be🥰I’ll be looking out for your UA-cam channel in the future as I have a feeling you’re going to make it big🔮💇♀️
Do it girl, I listened to my family saying it wasn’t a “real job” I started 10 year later because of that and I now have my dream job at an incredible salon! I should have trusted my gut and believed in myself when I was younger cause I’ve never been happier! Follow you passion, money will follow! You can do it!
Put you down? For what? Becoming a hairstylist? I’m a hairstylist and have been doing hair since 2001. I make a great living for myself. More than all of the people that once put me down. Girl, do it!!! Do what makes you happy. You have to try to know. If you don’t try - you’ll never know! Living your life wondering of what could have been will kill you on the inside. Try it and if it works it works if not at least you can say you tried! ❤️
I am 33 years old and decided to change careers and become a hairstylist. I am very lucky that I found a position as an apprentice at a highly successful salon where I am nurtured and encouraged to learn. Thank you for this video Brad and thank you for your honesty.
The stigma is true. I wanted to be a hairstylist and it was perceived by my family as being a dead end job only high school drop outs. I was encouraged to “aim higher” and while I did, I don’t have that creative outlet that my soul needs! Just do what you love, we ain’t gettin out alive anyways.
I know about the stigma. The school sistem in my country is primary school 6-15yo (9 grades) and after that middle school (3-5grades) and then high schools and colleges. As the hair school is a middle school with only 3years, with no option of further education the stigma will always exist. I'm now 14yo, in 9th grade of primary school and I have to sign to a middle school in a month and a half, in march. Since I've been wanting to become a hairdresser from the age of 10 I've decided to go to a hair school, no matter what anyone else says and despite all of the dirty looks, stereotypes and the stigma. I just hope I'm right.
There's really not a lot of videos about the hair industry on UA-cam. I'm glad you made this video as I'm studying hairdressing and it's always scary to not know what's on the other side. Thanks Brad!
Here in Belgium, we have something called “bso”, which is a vocational education. You can learn to do hair in high school. It’s an education form with 18-19h of practice out of the 32h a week in school, with the rest being normal classes. If you decide you want to be a hairstylist, you can follow this kind of education. By the time you graduate, you’ll have two seperate diploma’s: a legal hairstylist liscence and a high school diploma, which you can use to go to a university or a college, if you desire. This education consists of 4 years (9th-12th) and those grades are called “haircare”. After your senior year, there is a 13th grade, which is called “hairstylist”, where they’ll teach you, how to own a salon and the expenses, that come with it. This year is only an extra, it’s not demandatory. I’m currently in my 2 year.😁 Btw I love your video’s and your work!
BSO is often looked at sideways by those in ASO (regular standard high school) and TSO (technical vocation, like artisans and such). I hope you are happy with the path that you chose, and do take that 7th year, it will be priceless! My cousin did TSO to become a salesperson ("verkoop") and did her 7th year, and she's now teaching BSO economy after getting a teacher's degree. It doesn't mean you can't continue your education either, after that 7th year! If you wish. You have to give it more effort than say someone coming from ASO education (I graduated that). And I studied languages at university. I have to say, your English is perfect!!!
I wish we had formal apprentice programs here in the U.S. like they do in France and Belgium. It seems like a major oversight of our educational system, not to mention for a lot of trades, not hairstyling, you must join the powerful unions that control the trade, and that can be quite difficult if you have no familial ties.
@@ameliestclaire4726 Some stylists go into it after finishing "regular" high school and then going on to classes for it after turning 18, or finishing high school. Others jump into the program as of high school. It is different, but here yes all are given a chance, even the students who have either trouble learning regular subjects or who just aren't interested in it.
I have so much respect and affection for my hairstylist. Her work is always absolutely lovely, and seeing her is a joy every time. I've been her client for six years. In that time, she's moved salons twice, the first time to a city an hour away to be closer to the father of her child, who is now her husband, and the second time to start her own salon. And I've followed her both times because it's worth it. It's unreal how much better she has made my life, both as a friend and just by doing my hair. I'm looking forward to many more years as her client, and especially to this March, when she'll be dying my hair pink.
Many of these advices can be applied to other careers as well! One Con I find about being a hairstylist is the level of chemicals people are exposed in salons on a daily basis. A really good friend had a super successful salon. She had to quit her hairstylist career and closed the salon because her health was in true jeopardy. So, take this in consideration as well.
Had a beloved stylist develop multiple sclerosis. She really went downhill fast after retiring, and I did wonder if she was poisoned with some of the chemicals she worked with. They are just now studying and publicizing how toxic some salon chemicals can be.
I got my personal training certification, decided not to do it. I was just in real estate, decided not to do it. I’ve been wanting to be a hairstylist since I was little. I’m 19 now and just decided to go to school this fall:) I’m very excited!
I’ve been a licensed hairstylist for my first year now. And seriously he did not miss a single thing!! I started off at a chain hair salon just to get basic knowledge and get a feel for everything. But he is right, the burn out is real! Also realizing there’s no room for growth is very real and extremely important in this industry. It’s so funny he posted this bc I actually just put in my two weeks! I’m taking a MUCH NEEDED break from hair before moving onto a private owned salon. But the break will only make me stronger and more refreshed and I’m excited to see where this journey goes!
I recently graduated hair school and went on to assist. I quickly realized that I needed more. so I am now currently looking for my perfect salon so I can reach my full potential!
I have no desire to be a hairstylist. I don't have the patience. That being said...I would probably go to a class taught by this man (Brad Mondo) just to learn something new.
Brad, I love you so much! I’ve been struggling with deciding to go to school to be a stylist for like 20 years and am sort of stuck in my mortgage job. I still do hair for friends and family and think about going to school often. This video is so awesome and helpful and you look gorgeous! ❤️❤️❤️
If you have any way to make school work for you, DO IT!!! I went to cosmo school at 39 (barber right after getting my license) & am an apprentice at 41. I am loving it!!!!!! This is the best feeling everyday. Good luck!
When I was in highschool we had a cosmetology program where if you took the class for three years you would graduate with a hair license. I dropped out because the girls were so mean and I wasn’t working at my full potential:( I regret it so much I wish I pushed through
im doing my course selection for high school this week and i was thinking of cosmetology class but i don't know if i should and it takes up all three of my electives. thoughts?
I worked at a salon as a receptionist for 2 years, even though I decided to not become a stylist myself I saw EVERYTHING Brad has said play out in front of me. Its Definitely a crazy job both good and bad 😂❤️
Thank you for this. I plan to go to hair school in about 10 years when my house is paid for. Ready to get out of healthcare, but it pays well. I've always wanted to do it, but my mother thought I was too good for this job. I'll probably be the oldest person in class, but I'll be happy and excited! Thanks for all you do!
Wow this is perfect timing, I’ve been considering studying hairdressing for a while now and considering signing up for it later this year/early next year. Nice to hear the insights!
Great video, the part about quitting when working in a shitty place and the part about things not always working out no matter how hard you try are 2 amazing points to keep in mind as a new stylist!
#1 rule, you must be passionate about hair and working with the public. It's not just a job. I'm a stylist and absolutely love this video. Really appreciate the thorough list. Some days I feel like I have imposter syndrome after working in this business for a decade. Just switched salons and learning a whole new system through corporate. It was easier than rebuilding a clientele from scratch. So far so good. Those days when a customer is so greatful to have you work on them is just so rewarding, it keeps bringing me back for more.
i’m currently a receptionist at a hair salon and already have a couple of cosmo courses under my belt from high school. next semester i’m going back to college to finish the program and get my license, so this video couldn’t come at a better time. thank you brad!
This makes me excited! I have been a server for years and I'm always on my feet and social. I love the creative aspect of it. Back hurt, arms hurt, feet hurt, no time to eat.... can relate !
Everything you’re saying is so accurate.. I’m currently an apprentice at a salon in Portland Oregon and we have continued education classes every week and occasionally with educators from gold well and redken! So excited to grow in this career as a stylist 😍🙌🏼
After a couple of years thinking I wanted to be a hairstylist, I worked as a receptionist in a salon while saving for school. It was so catty, so toxic, and most salons in my area were like this. I quickly was discouraged, but I really sat down with myself, and asked what I could do. I now am soon starting barber school! It was the perfect decision for me.
I started watching your videos 3 years ago teaching myself to cut and dye my hair, I now start cosmetology school next week after 3 years of trying to go :) you inspire
@@oeillet7676 it’s amazing!!! Seriously I love it so much and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made! It truly is my biggest passion and I love what I do
this is so helpful because last year i had just the thought of becoming a hairstylist and really sticking with it. i know i am only 13 but i do want to start really thinking what i want to do and keep that in mind. i love hair and i would love to learn everything about it! i’m so excited to go to hair school and become a hairdresser! this is what i want to do!
Took me 1.5 years to get through beauty school. And now almost 2 years into my apprenticeship. Good reminder of how long it takes to become a great hairstylist.
I have to say that you look absolutely amazing and glowing today! Not that you don't look amazing other days, but something is making you vibrant today! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
From the standpoint of the client, there is such a wide gulf between someone with your attitude, professionalism and care towards the client, and the average hair stylist, it like looking at two different career specialties. I had to learn learn to do my own hair because my hair is difficult for the average stylist to deal with. It made me really appreciative of those who do it for a living, because the variables of hair type, face shape, style wants and attitude are endless. BTW, great hair!
I was majoring in law and I’m glad I stopped before I was in too deep. I wasn’t that into law, but my mom wanted me to since she’s worked in the field along with my father. It took awhile for my mom to accept that I love doing my hair. I’ve always been creative and good with color as an artist so I really would love to sell my paintings in a studio. My current hairstylist displays his art work in his shop and I hope one day I can have a nice set up like that
I have such a big interest in becoming a hair stylist! I’m curious though, do you think it’s possible to be successful and happy as an introvert in the hair/beauty industry?
I’m currently an apprentice in a salon and as someone who’s very introverted and shy it is kinda hard at first as I get nervous easily around people but it’s really helped me come out of my shell a lot more and helped me gain confidence for in the salon and in the world!
As someone who generally doesn't talk a lot and gets shy, you just have to get used to it and then you're going to be fine. You can build a lot of social skills being a hairstylist and most times the clients are initiating the conversation
Heyo! Brand new licensed stylist here to say you are very correct and this industry isn’t for everyone! I just started at a walk-in and I want to very quickly walk out. It’s been discouraging with how slow it is and I’m wanting to do bridal hair instead of cuts. Thank you for being an advocate for this topic bc so many people have chosen this career recently and they should know what it takes before starting! Love you and keep creating Brad, we need you!💕
Me: an EMT training to become a firefighter who never even had my hair dyed before Also me: watches this entire video Very cool insight & I wish everyone who wants to get into this career good luck! 💞💞💞
Yes Brad! I’ve been a qualified hairdresser for 12 years and all the those pro’s and con’s are completely correct! Especially con #6 omg I had a complete a hole and thank god after all the lockdowns she has not returned!! I really do love my job even though it’s not always fun and easy.
Love you Brad!🥰 This winter break I colored my mom's hair after watching your videos to get tips on the process. While at Sally's Beauty Supply I was asked by the store clerk if I want to be a colorist. I never considered a career in making people feel beautiful, but you my friend are good inspiration to helping people live an EXTRA life. LOVE YOU BRAD thanks for being an advocate for beauty People deserve to feel better with self-care. I love your agenda💗💗💗
My high school had a cosmetology program that they only promoted to students they thought were of average intelligence. I was an honors student, and therefore, these programs are basically hidden. It was when my sister was in high school that I found out they did this. And let me tell you how pissed off I was! I loved styling hair for my sister and friends, especially for theater. It’s sad and cruel to limit students on what possibilities are out there because of their learning abilities. I would’ve loved being a stylist or makeup artist but that was a path I didn’t even realize I could take until I was too deep into academia. Now I’m too old to stand all day. Keep doing what you’re doing, Brad! Let the world know that we need more hair stylists.
I really wanted to become a hairstylist since I started looking for a job as a teen, I subscribed to learn more and I think I have definitely learned more from you, honestly your amazing and I hope I am able to learn further and become a good hairstylist like you.
I've had different kinds of bangs (regular one, mini, V shaped) and I just shaved my sides and a little bit of back. Lol I'm exitedddd🙀 and who gave me confidence to do all this stuff to my hair was brad. I feel I've gained some cool knowledge from his videos 😍
I recognise a lot! When your young, just finished school, you don’t know how to stand up for yourself.. Feeling insecure. That will grow, you will ‘level up’. Thank you, Brad
Brad has many gifts. He's multitalented. He is so poised, with outsized charisma. Younger people see him on social media, but those who don't use it would love to see him too. Print media is still out there, and a lot of people still watch old-school TV. How great would his TV commercials be? It's an expensive medium, but somebody should get him out there!!
When I was younger I did finish my woman hairstylist course, I was an extrovert loved being around people chatting all day , when I got older I became more introvert and lost interest in my profession. But I have a 15 year old that loves it when mom does her hair.
This video is 10/10. If I had half this info when I first finished school it would have definitely been a major eye opener. My first salon that I worked in had so many red flags and Brad talked about most of them 😂
I have been a hairstylist for 35 years, and EVERYTHING you said both pro and con was totally true!! I haven't done hair for about 10 years now, because of my health, I do still have a few people that I style their hair. I have kept up my license and watch as many technical and teaching videos as possible. I loved doing hair but you were so right about getting burned out. You need that positive energy to keep you excited about the job. You are probably one of the few who have told like it really is in a salon. There are alot of shifty salons and owners out there. I love your videos and you are so upbeat and excited about hair. Stay cool!!!🥰🥰🥰
I’m a tattoo artist, and to be honest this also applies to my job sooo much haha! Wouldn’t trade it for the world though and I can definitely see why you love your job as well! 💕
This video popped up at the perfect time! You are the reason I am so in love with the hair industry. I am about to graduate and attend schooling for cosmetology myself, and I am so incredibly excited!!
Brad explaining how doing hair makes people happy and making them happy= fulfillment. He is just the most genuine person in the world. He's a hair dresser and a life guru. Love you Brad.
My mom was a stylist. I always wanted to be one too and she wouldn't let me unless I got an undergrad degree to fall back on when I burnt out. Now I'm in medical school and still wish I was a stylish lol.
I love when I book in all my favourite clients on one day. Makes that day so nice. I was diagnosed with ms in 2019 so even though I am enthusiastic about doing hair, I struggle with standing all day. I now do 2 days in the salon and studying to be a primary school teacher.
Haven't even started watching this yet but I'm currently in my first year of cosmetology school with plans of eventually getting my cosmetology license and I am so excited for this video. I literally love you Brad!!!
@@oeillet7676 Hi! Cosmetology school has been a journey for me. I started last year in my senior year of high school and got a bit over 400 of my 1000 needed hours in my state to take my state boards. I am currently almost through week two of starting the adult cosmetology program through my school since I have graduated high school and it's a huge difference. A lot more informational and thorough, theres wayyy less drama, like literally none, and we are also able to work on people who come in on clinic days. Cosmetology is not easy, I won't lie. I'm in school for six hours a day and on top of that sometimes work on homework for hours. There will be times where you might feel like you're not good enough or you will never be able to do something but as long as you keep practicing and pushing yourself I promise you will only improve over time. Cosmetology is an umbrella field. With your cosmetology license you can do hair, skin, and nails, although for certain professions such as an aesthetician that requires additional schooling. My graduation date as of right now is set for April and I am anxious and excited about the rest of my path to make it there. Once I graduate I plan on taking my state board test to be a licensed cosmetologist. I'd say that if you really love hair, skin, or nails and making people feel good about themselves, cosmetology school could be a good option for you. If you have anymore questions definitely let me know :)
I am fully going to school to become an English teacher.... however, this is my dream and i would love to do it full time and go to school for it. I do my friends hair and my own to get my fix lol
Dropped out of high school after coming out of the closet and becoming homeless and have ended up looking at a hair stylist career because it's something im passionate about- Nothing wrong with high school drop outs! Everyone's experiences are different and someones past doesn't have to do with their drive, ambition or how hard they'll work to reach their goals :)
This was fun to watch, I’m currently 7 months into my 13 month cosmetology program. There’s been some lows but i can always get through it. Im glad to hear what you had to say about apprenticeships. I’ve already started looking into an apprenticeship but none of my instructors or even classmates have talked about them.
As a chemist, I can tell you no he isn't, there is much more to being a chemist than just the chemistry. You basically become a scientist then choose your specialty. He can parrot the information the chemists tells him and that's great though.
@@nat7611 I have been watching Brad Mondo videos for years and his "experiment" with which shampoo and conditioner are the best was not at all based on the scientific method and it was quite cringe worthy and triggering for me. I commented then that he would have a better experiment if he allowed a scientist to plan it.
Another sign. Decided to look into schools. My end game, be an educator too. Sky is the limit. So passionate about hair and love to watch all things hair
It’s my dream job. I work full time now and can barely make ends meet so it will stay a dream for a long while 😂 I’ve done my own hair for years and love it
I don’t know much about hairstylists but every minute of this video was worth watching. I love listening to people talk about their passion and learning’s though it ❤ wishing you grace!
I cut my own hair, my husband's, my mother, did my bridesmaid's and my SIL wedding hairdos, and even balayage my friend's hair, so I've always thought if one day I'm not so dependant on a regular, high paying office job, I might leave it all and becoming a hair styilist! I love shampooing, cutting, doing anything hair related and using my hands! What's really put me off until now really is the "standing up all day and getting back and leg pain" because I worked in retail and I remember that very pain at the end of busy days, so yeah, we'll see in a decade lol. Thanks for the honesty Brad, not overselling it etc. love it :-)
Something I do for my stylist is shoot her a text before and ask if I can grab her food or a coffee! Or anything! She’s so awesome and it’s like paying for a new look and a mini therapy session, so I try to take care of her when I see her.
This felt intimidating, but that’s a lot of insight. I’ve lived in NYC, moved to NJ, but nonetheless, I love learning what hairstylists go through to get to their current position. Thank you for this informative video!
your videos really did inspire me to become a hair stylist, i actually already started school! i wish i had seen a video like this half a year ago when i was still deciding if i wanted to go or not... but i took the plunge and there is no going back now! I have always loved doing hair and i feel this was the right choice for me.. thank you for always inspiring me
I've been binge watching all your videos lately and I love you and your videos. Your style, your energy, your passion is a whole ass vibe. You have made me realize that something I have always been semi curious about doing for a career (being a hair stylist) is definitely something I feel even more passionate about than I realized until watching you. Thank you for inspiring me. Thank you for being you. You're a rockstar
I'm only 2min in the video and I just had to pause and say just like in the movie Soul, hairstylists can really help a person transition to a prominent stage in life. All my life I wanted my hair cut and I grew up in a really controlling, abusive household and my hair was another thing I had no control over. I'll never forget the day I finally moved out and a year after realizing that I could finally have my hair how I want it. Never forget that haircut and telling my stylist my journey and almost crying when I saw the final cut. It was so liberating. Watching my hair fall to the ground felt like watching the past get cut away. I love hairstylists
I loved listening to you talk about this topic, it’s like chatting with a friend. I do like hair and everything that goes into it, but it’s definitely not my calling -I do like grooming my dogs though lol. I’m more of a makeup person and love my medical coding job (I’ve been at it for 6 years and I’m close to getting promoted). Any career takes time, passion, hard work and luck-but to those that do become hairdressers-You guys are amazing and you work hard at what you do to make us all look and feel good.
Did this make anyone wanna become a hairstylist?
Of course
Yes! I was debating it 😄
I’ve been wanting to be a hairstylist for two years now and im finally going to go to cosmetology school.
Yeahh sometimes..I love to see people happy...But I can't deall with Karen's.
I wish! It’s my dream job. School is so expensive and requires so much time. I can’t go to school being a working adult who can barely make ends meet as it is.
I have no interest in becoming a hairstylist, but I still loved this "sit down chat" video. It is fun to learn about other people's passions. Really great video!! ♥

@@ajda6725 I just saw this comment, I hope all is going well for you dear, follow your heart ❤️
@@AlexaNicole1186 thank you
There's really not a lot of videos about the hair industry on UA-cam.
I’m currently in my 2 year.😁
Btw I love your video’s and your work!
That is so interesting! It's actually a really smart way of doing it. I'm wishing you the best of luck with school!
That’s wonderful!
I wish we had formal apprentice programs here in the U.S. like they do in France and Belgium. It seems like a major oversight of our educational system, not to mention for a
lot of trades, not hairstyling, you must join the powerful unions that control the trade, and that can be quite difficult if you have no familial ties.
@@ameliestclaire4726 Some stylists go into it after finishing "regular" high school and then going on to classes for it after turning 18, or finishing high school. Others jump into the program as of high school. It is different, but here yes all are given a chance, even the students who have either trouble learning regular subjects or who just aren't interested in it.
so true about the stigma, I have a masters..hated it. Worked in corporate..hated it. I’m going to do what I want to do now 💜
I have so much respect and affection for my hairstylist.
That’s horrible. I’ve been hearing more about non-toxic salons. Stylists give us so much, they shouldn’t have to pay with their health!
wow hadn't even thought of that!
I love you! I’ve been doing hair for almost 6 years and this video gave me so much pride in being a hair dresser. We rock!!!
I recently graduated hair school and went on to assist. I quickly realized that I needed more. so I am now currently looking for my perfect salon so I can reach my full potential!
Be mindful of where you work, some places will hold you back, good luck 🙂
Good luck!
I guess this is you sign to do it. Sign up for a class!
When I was in highschool we had a cosmetology program where if you took the class for three years you would graduate with a hair license. I dropped out because the girls were so mean and I wasn’t working at my full potential:( I regret it so much I wish I pushed through
I wish that program had existed in my high-school I definitely would have taken advantage 😪
Me too
im doing my course selection for high school this week and i was thinking of cosmetology class but i don't know if i should and it takes up all three of my electives. thoughts?
That sounds so cool
It’s never too late to get ur hair license now 💓💓chase your dreams girl
I worked at a salon as a receptionist for 2 years, even though I decided to not become a stylist myself I saw EVERYTHING Brad has said play out in front of me. Its Definitely a crazy job both good and bad 😂❤️
Been a stylist for 3 years and agreed with everything you said. I love my job and love the amount of opportunities in this industry
I’m in hair school and have been feeling discouraged recently, this video has got me motivated all over again! 🧡

I started cosmetology school because I was so obsessed with your videos. Now I’m licensed and LOVE what I do ✨💕
i’m currently a receptionist at a hair salon and already have a couple of cosmo courses under my belt from high school. next semester i’m going back to college to finish the program and get my license, so this video couldn’t come at a better time. thank you brad!
Hi fellow Portlander 👋
After a couple of years thinking I wanted to be a hairstylist, I worked as a receptionist in a salon while saving for school. It was so catty, so toxic, and most salons in my area were like this. I quickly was discouraged, but I really sat down with myself, and asked what I could do. I now am soon starting barber school! It was the perfect decision for me.
I started watching your videos 3 years ago teaching myself to cut and dye my hair, I now start cosmetology school next week after 3 years of trying to go :) you inspire
Hey I’m considering going to cosmetology school, how has it been for you?
@@oeillet7676 it’s amazing!!! Seriously I love it so much and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made! It truly is my biggest passion and I love what I do
I’m a cosmetology student now! Just gave me more of a reason to keep going thank you always Brad ❤️
this is so helpful because last year i had just the thought of becoming a hairstylist and really sticking with it. i know i am only 13 but i do want to start really thinking what i want to do and keep that in mind. i love hair and i would love to learn everything about it! i’m so excited to go to hair school and become a hairdresser! this is what i want to do!
Took me 1.5 years to get through beauty school. And now almost 2 years into my apprenticeship. Good reminder of how long it takes to become a great hairstylist.
Also worked at a salon during the day through school as an assistant. Then school at night. Hustled 10-12hr days that entire time
I had clients cry too. It's such an amazing feeling 🥰!
I’m a stylist for 10 years all of this is 100% true and motivated me to expand my horizons. You’ll never read this but thank you if you do!
Being a Hairstylist improved my social skills more than ever.
Love you and keep creating Brad, we need you!💕
Me: an EMT training to become a firefighter who never even had my hair dyed before

Very cool insight & I wish everyone who wants to get into this career good luck! 💞💞💞
Yes Brad! I’ve been a qualified hairdresser for 12 years and all the those pro’s and con’s are completely correct! Especially con #6 omg I had a complete a hole and thank god after all the lockdowns she has not returned!! I really do love my job even though it’s not always fun and easy.
Love you Brad!🥰
This winter break I colored my mom's hair after watching your videos to get tips on the process. While at Sally's Beauty Supply I was asked by the store clerk if I want to be a colorist. I never considered a career in making people feel beautiful, but you my friend are good inspiration to helping people live an EXTRA life. LOVE YOU BRAD thanks for being an advocate for beauty
People deserve to feel better with self-care.
You actually are part of the reason why I finally jumped into school. Just finished first month. Thanks for the tips.
I love being a stylist. It’s so much fun 😌
This video is 10/10. If I had half this info when I first finished school it would have definitely been a major eye opener. My first salon that I worked in had so many red flags and Brad talked about most of them 😂
Current hairstylist/makeup artist struggling to find a good job in my small town, thank you for your advice.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey I’m considering going to cosmetology school, how has it been for you?
I can relate to this! Having multiple passions is awesome though! You can do anything you want!
do your dream if you can!
Do you make enough to live a happy life?
This was fun to watch, I’m currently 7 months into my 13 month cosmetology program. There’s been some lows but i can always get through it. Im glad to hear what you had to say about apprenticeships. I’ve already started looking into an apprenticeship but none of my instructors or even classmates have talked about them.
Brad Mondo is more than a hairstylist. You see how he breaks down hair dye? He’s a freaking chemist 😂
As a chemist, I can tell you no he isn't, there is much more to being a chemist than just the chemistry. You basically become a scientist then choose your specialty. He can parrot the information the chemists tells him and that's great though.
@@ANON_YMOUS1111 can you let people exist lol
@@nat7611 what your problem? Is learning a thing or two painful for you 🙄
@@nat7611 I have been watching Brad Mondo videos for years and his "experiment" with which shampoo and conditioner are the best was not at all based on the scientific method and it was quite cringe worthy and triggering for me. I've had the same hairdresser for 13 years. She knows everything about me and I love her.
I’ve been wanting to be a hair stylist and I’m really excited about this video!!
the timing on this video was perfect, thank you so much for your insight brad!
Thanks for the honesty Brad, not overselling it etc. love it :-)
Perfect advice! I totally agree even though I am not a hairstylist I think this is the same for every job rules - wise 👍
Something I do for my stylist is shoot her a text before and ask if I can grab her food or a coffee! Or anything! She’s so awesome and it’s like paying for a new look and a mini therapy session, so I try to take care of her when I see her.
Loving the fit, loving the look and loving this sit down!
This advice is all good for whatever you want to do. It's maybe not all applicable to any job but certainly applicable to any career.
This felt intimidating, but that’s a lot of insight. I’ve lived in NYC, moved to NJ, but nonetheless, I love learning what hairstylists go through to get to their current position. Thank you for this informative video!

You nailed it. 23 years and this is my exact assessment.
I am studying to become a hairstylist atm!! Can’t wait to be able to do it everyday!! 😍 and may I say you look amazing!! 🔥🔥🔥😍😘🖤
Thank you Brad I’ve wanted to do this since I was like 12
I loved listening to you talk about this topic, it’s like chatting with a friend.
