you are FANTASTIC! I've watch so many videos that say 'watercolour for beginners' but they are all just videos of someone painting (without speaking) while music plays on a loop (and are no different than their non-beginner videos). You explain EVERYTHING in detail about both supplies and actual painting with no distracting music and have a lovely style of speaking/teaching. THANK YOU :) (Any chance of a pen & wash tutorial?)
I am thrilled to have found your series for beginners! It’s exactly what I have searched for. You make it so simple, step by step! I enjoy your videos and I am hopefully expecting to create something beautiful as I paint along. Thank you for the gift you share!
Hello Harriet, I ‘found’ you a week ago, when your tutorial on painting chickens popped up. I haven’t painted one yet, but have painted some bees 🐝 and I’m really pleased. I thought I’d go back to basics with your first tutorials. I love your style of teaching, it’s clear, easy to follow and fun. Nice to watch a fellow left handed person at work.
I have been looking for a course with a left-handed painter and I found you!! I'm so excited and thank you for your videos! I love hearing the birds in the background.
I am so glad I found your classes. I see that I am a year behind, but boy am I learning a lot quickly. I am educator and really enjoy your ability to speak on level that draws me in and I want to learn more of all the techniques. I find myself up several hours and I am never bored.👩🏽🎨 Learning how to paint is very calming. Thank you…I love it. 💕
I haven't painted since college and decided to give watercolour painting a go. Really loving just the basics and excited to progress through these videos. Thank you!
I've sat and watched hours of videos on watercolour. And, this is the first video where it has really connected, the demonstration of the last few circles is the clincher for me.
Really great quality tutorial thank you, the sound is clear, we can see exactly what you’re doing and you explained the techniques really well! Looking forward to the next video x
I've watched your videos too many times but never in any particular order. But I saw that you have amazing tutorials for beginners and I have sat down with all my supplies and now religiously painting along with you. Thank you so much for this.
Thank you Harriet. I need a couple more brushes I think and can't wait now to watch the rest of the videos. I really am a beginner. Last painted when I was in infants school and now 71 😃 and I had no talent then. Let's hope time has helped. Shirley.
Really loving these videos. I’ve been trying to find a way to start to paint regularly again and this I just what I was looking for; Harriet’s tutorial is great.
I found your class by chance and am so enjoying it. You present each lesson with such ease and confidence. I feel as though I’m sitting in my kitchen painting next to you. Beginnings are hard and you make it so easy. It’s like being in a book club with treasured friends. Thank you for presenting these lessons. You bring joy to many! Marianne
This is fantastic! I've been following you on Instagram for a while and finally have gotten together the brushes and paint! Your explanations are so clear and make understanding what is going on so easy!
In two weeks remote-learning school (such as it is :-T) will be over, and a week later I'll be in glorious retreat for eight days in the mountains of California, sheltering-in-place of course, but "elsewhere" nonetheless! I'm watching your digitals, taking notes, and gathering materials for a week of watercolor-get-to-know-you and experiment (as well as napping and reading). Luscious! As I've remarked before, your wonderful and direct teaching style, divvied out in manageable doses comes at the perfect time for this beginner. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for making these tutorials. It’s so informative, but also a delight to listen to your calm presentations. I’ve just bought your book and thought I would look through some of your tutorials before completely diving in, so that as I read it, it will really click. Your book is fabulous. Thank you again!
Your UA-cam channel couldn’t have come out in a better time! I just got your book in the mail a few days ago and your videos have been a great accompaniment to the book. So excited to keep learning from you! 😍❤️
Awesome! Thank you! I'm so glad you have the book too, a lot of my initial teaching will follow my content from the book and then we will be branching out. Exciting times!
Thank you for the fantastic tutorial Harriet. Your instructions are really clear and concise... l’ve subscribed! I recently received your brilliant book so l’m looking forward to watching your videos and working through the book. 🌸💜🎨
Great nails! Great lesson too. I like that you don't try to do too much per episode: I shall now go and paint circles, fairly confident that I can remember all of that lesson. Also, it's vey helpful that you list the gear you're using - paper, brushes, paint. Thanks again.
Good teaching practice. That exercise wasn't as easy as it looked, it clearly takes a few goes to get the paint consistency right and the paper just wet enough but not too much, but the third shot wasn't bad. This is exciting. Something good from lockdown!
I just bought your book and you have inspired me to dive in and try my hand at watercolor. I love your work! Thank you so much for the wonderful tutorials - you're doing a wonderful job!
@@deWintonPaperCo Hi, Harriet! I'm in Louisiana and heard about your book in a magazine I purchased here called Project Calm. It's a really nice introduction to your book! So you are officially a worldwide sensation ; )
I am so grateful for this series. I am just beginning to paint, and have no other artistic experience. You are a wonderful teacher. I have always been intimidated by the arts, but your gentle yet detailed approach to teaching watercolor painting has me feeling hopeful. Thank you so much! (By the way, I have ordered two of your books!)
I love your work detailed so much infact i have decided to start all over as i still have not learned i pick up on one tutotial which is too advanced so back to basics xx
I followed along as you went, my circles were curved at least! Maybe the third idea using linked water circles didn’t go as well because I am using block colours, not tubes. The paint spread into the second circle, but not the third. I tried again with the three colours - same result. Work in progress. 👍🏻😊 Thank you Harriet.
Hi Harriet, I stumbled across your book online and found your Instagram which is delightful. I timed it right as you've now started this very helpful UA-cam Channel! I'm one to get carried away and try to jump in too deep too early, fail, then abandon it all together, so I'm trying to take it all one step at a time, which your channel is great for! I'm also working night shifts in Care, where the children are asleep so this is my time to experiment with my watercolours! I wonder if you might be able to show us in the next episode how to explore the different shades obtainable from a colour using a palette.... this demo was great to see the theory behind colour, but how do we control this when painting an object? I.e we wont necessarily be using the colours already on the page to bleed into one another, but would want the shades in our palette to choose from....I've not explained that very well but I hope you understand what I mean! Looking forward to episode 3 and trying to resist opening my book until I've nailed some basics!
Haha, Rebecca, I'm exactly the same, I'm terrible at reading through instructions and actually finishing them before I want to dive in. Hopefully this will help you take it slow and steady. The good thing about watercolour is it gives satisfying results fairly quickly.
Just found your channel, so was wondering why aren’t you using two water sources, one to rinse the brush and the other to paint with? Happy New Year’22! 🎆🎊
I have a few other glasses of water off camera and they dont all fit. However, I've never got into the habit of the two glass method. It's nice that people can choose their preferred way of doing it
Hi veronica, make sure your brush is nice and wet to make sure the paint flowers off the bristles like a smooth felt tip pen. That should help. Swirl it round in the water for a while and wipe away the excss and have a go like that.
I am unable to draw out the colour from the dry circle… for some reason, the water doesn’t draw out the colour and instead just leaves the inner circle blank! How do I combat this? Thank you in advance! 4:15

Easy to follow, not advocating a huge cash outlay and beautifully presented.
I am relaxing and learning.

Yes, I like to break it down and just focus in on a manageable amount.

You're welcome 😊
