That's the best approach in this case. The other option may be a reflective tape or sticker since as long as it doesn't affect the helmet's construction it should be okay. The only downside would be that it may affect the helmet's finish or paint job, so that is something to keep in mind if you choose to go for that.

Not trying to be offensive here, but you are pronouncing the name Shoie incorrectly. Shoei helmets are made in Japan. The Japanese Shoei as "Show-Ay". Never "Shoe-E". Maby if Chewbacca / Chewy" from Star Wars, had a Shoei helmet, he would pronounce it as Shoe-E. 🙂
