All these comments about speed, cause ofc, wdc about the place of each instruments, the direction of a sentence, in fact : the choices of interpretation, only the speed is important, and if he's a popular conductor with experience and that he Plays at the proms, you really think his performance is Bad ?? And because of the tempo ??????? Even if in a march the tempo is a bit more important than any ither piece it's not a reason to dislike the performance. And btw u can't talk about tempo cause there are several differents tempo in his interpretation
+Peter John he starts off much faster than other versions I've heard, and then he slows down... And then adds a bitchin accelerando the last 2 measures.
I actually don’t mind the tempo, but the slowdown and then accelerando at the end didn’t make sense to me… done in poor taste. And I don’t know, but I don’t think this being an encore with “more audience adrenaline” justifies these weird fluctuations in tempo.
It is no faster than many other performances on UA-cam. Also, this was an encore after a long concert and one shouldn't necessarily compare "live" performances with studio recordings, as an audience usually brings extra adrenaline. I agree, it's a little too fast a tempo. I had a recording years ago, on an 8-track, of all things, that was just a shade slower, and I think it was better.
We’re playing this song in my next concert and it’s so hard with all the scales and slurs. Kudos to these performers
When I saw the Atlanta Pops they opened with this and I didn't know it was coming I have loved it since I was a child; it was awesome.
Thomas must have had dinner reservations someplace.
Same speed as the one from the Prokofiev himself

just your average speed actually
something is wrong with your ears.
Maybe you are hearing the de crescendo
Andrey Rubtsov the tempo is all over the place. Not really march like at all
Much good...
Interesting similarity to John Williams, no question. Nice that Prokofiev made an impression.
It's other way around😂
Theme for "The FBI in Peace and War"
Sounds almost like the music from Star Wars
Because that's were John Williams took the Imperial March from.
Prokofiev....
Same . Peter and the Wolf ! Is forever a Prokofiev favorite of mine .
Thansk
la suite
Empire march, Prokofiev much better. Listen at 1.25 speed.
pretty fast march
Same speed as the one from the Prokofiev himself

jeez! what did you like about it?
Superbly clear...but why do you make such a ludicrous accelarando at the end...just for fun? not part of the deal Michael
There are some rather extreme harmonic surprises in the last few bars. They're almost "tossed off" in this performance, as if there's nothing to them.
Too fast. Eugene Ormandy's Festival of Marches version is better.

Like for music; dislike for performance: not a good taste.
