You did it again Laura. Not only are you my favorite teacher for sewing I can count on you for having the appropriate tutorial I need for my sewing. You are very clear straight to the point and I love your approach with you shortcuts. I would like to see more tutorials with fabric panels. Keep up the good work and thank you again
Such great tips! I've made a couple of soft books and never satisfied at the end results but this tutorial addresses all the issues I had. Thank you for another great tutorial!
This tutorial is VERY timely...I just bought a Thomas panel and had no idea it was a book! Now that I've seen how it's supposed to work, I'll give it a try!! Thank you!!!
Hi Laura, Love all your videos. I have Pellon #987F Fusible Low Loft batting and Pellon #TP971F Fusible High Loft batting. Which one would you recommend is better? Will it make much difference? Thank you.
I love making soft books but I'm not a fan of the stiffer peltex. Personally I will stick with batting for my soft books. But thanks for another great tutorial with some fun and interesting tips.
I have several questions...First, are these both machine washable? If so, does the Peltex wash well? I feel like the pages would get crinkled places in them because of washing and spinning in the washer. Also, if I use batting, what weight batting is best? Thanks! I love your video.
It washes great. My daughter has washed these many times and it comes out great. You can still press after washes if you want. You can use any batting, I like a thin batting :)
You may have mentioned it and I missed it; could you tell us again which Peltex you used for the soft book.. was it #70, #71, or #72? Thank you again for the tutorial.
Have you ever seen a child's quilt made from the book panels? I would love to see a video on how to make a quilt with the same panels. I've only seen pictures
Trayne1837 Yes I have seen quilts make with book panels ( love panels)and good idea about doing a quilt with the same panels. will have to see what I can do.Matching book and quilt:) thanks for sharing
Laura, these are just darling. I've never made a soft book, but this inspires me. Thank you for the great tips. I have a little Grandson that would love the Thomas book. I'll follow your lead and have a look a quiltingtreasures.com for my panel. Thanks again.
Melanie Varela Check at you local shop for the panel. You can get lots of different book panels....I could make one of each< i Love them that much, Happy sewing Melanie
SewVeryEasy Sadly, I don't have an LQS. I live in the boondocks, so everything is shipped to me. I do love the beautiful hill country around me and won't trade it for an LQS!
Thomas the Tank Engine was my son's favorite. He even named one of our dogs Thomas. When he was little, he said he when he got married, he was going to have 100 children and name them all Thomas!

Should we wash the panels and peltex or fusible fleece before sewing? Thanks for this video, it's great.
for this, I did not and my daughter has washed it many times with no problems:)

If I use the fleece instead of the Peltex, would you still recommend to cut out the indentations in the middle? Thank you.
It would not be as important but I still would just to reduce the bulk along the edges
@@SewVeryEasy thanks!!

Sheri Sterling Thanks Sheri
