Healthy boundaries, empathy and maintaining one's metacognition can go a long way to preserving balance and centeredness that's not reliant upon other's validation. It can be lonely as it's a road less traveled, but the company you do maintain is far more valuable.
We all have different opinions and homesteaders probably have very strong opinions and for good reasons probably but some people look for faults in others like there is a reward for it. It’s okay not to agree on everything, that’s how we learn. I really liked the honesty in this video. Well done 👍🏻
@@Tinachimneycreekfarm Thank you for your thoughts on this. “Some people look for faults in others like there is a reward for it” is a great way to put it 💯
Thanks. You summed it up very well. Sadly social media is full of this type you describe. They can't do ,or produce anything of worth. But love to tear others down. Discussion , and disagreement, but not rabid abuse. Always look foreward to your videos. Best wishes from an autumnal England.
The last year has taught us so much on this topic! Reading the procerbs every morning for the last 2 1/2 years has truly been life changing! We truly need one another! Thats the rub, matey lol. Hear and do.
I never let someone talk to me about another person. I always ask if I can call the other person and be a mediator. If the person who is trying to gossip about the other person doesn't want me to call the person they're talking about? I know they're just gossiping.
@@YeshuaKingMessiah It certainly does feel like that sometimes. But there are still some really wonderful people who are willing to sit down and have conversations from a place of curiosity and respect. So there’s hope!
In my experience, verbal abuse is usually an effect and not a cause. It's easy to look down on somebody for being verbally abusive without acknowledging the arrogance, hypocrisy, disrespect or manipulation that they're subjected to. I'm not sure this video does anything but muddy the issue with firm opinions that you want people to adopt.
Well, if we're being honest...this is just UA-cam. It's always been like this and always will be unfortunately. If someone is picking fights with you, ignore and block. Done. Hope you have better luck in the future. And that's is pretty kick ass hat btw ;)
@@Chickenfoothomestead You’re very right! I was speaking in generalities and not about anything specific that I’ve experienced on UA-cam. I’ve met a lot of contentious people in person as well as online. And thanks for the hat compliment. @@francesbernard2445 I do see a lot of people always having a bone to pick with the way others choose to live, even within the homestead community. That’s why I recommend people just watch out for others who always seem to have issues or drama surrounding them, including UA-cam channels. I think that there are “black and white” issues, but mostly everything is shades of gray for which we can all err on the side of the golden rule: treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Thanks for watching!
There are two sides of everything you are saying. One is a person that gets offended and uses a deliberate vocabulary usually deceptive and the other that is “triggered” by people that use a vocabulary that openly shows who they are wether you like it or not. Neither 100% right and we will never know the exact how we are being subjected to the drama you invited into our lives. Most people who observe and care for the earth are caregivers. Some get lost worrying about social media. Homesteading is not a particular lifestyle. Homesteading is not a certain church. Homesteading is not a particular political view. Homesteading is a lifestyle that should make you closer to land and like minded people. If your not like minded just say I’m sorry we don’t agree and this is not why I chose this life. Keep it simple and understand your only dividing when you speak like you did in this video. God gave you two ears and one mouth so you could listen twice as much as you speak words. I most likely wasted commenting because people are caught up on the offended bandwagon. You can’t be offended if you don’t engage so don’t. I don’t think a divine power persuaded me to leave this message but if I was the one that created us and thought the terrible twos were over and at 18, 29, 49, 55, 80, 102 we were saying Johnny said something mean and I want him punished. I would probably just say nope that did not work I’ll just start over.
Just Incase anyone is curious I listened to the whole video. what I did after writing my comment. I did not like subscribe or engage after this comment.
@@HitTheDirt You're welcome to do and not do as you'd like. I understand both (and several other) viewpoints. It's no trouble for or from me. I'm seeing a lot of homesteading videos that seem to have clickbait titles. I don't know about this particular channel, but ... saw sheep and wondered what she had to say on this topic. I think that people who are negative about how they talk about and to other people are dissatisfied with their lives and I hope they are able to figure out what they need for their happiness. Otherwise, I'm better off without them. I agree that homesteading is not a particular style of politics, religion, or even what is done on the land. I think "homesteading" is a larger idea - making a home that is closer to handmade and self-sufficiency than most people even attempt. I think that everyone can "homestead" to some degree, and that we should be encouraging others as much as possible. It's not for me to say that having a large garden is better or worse than keeping animals, or that how you keep your animals is better or worse than how I do. We are all learning and growing as people. It's expected that we will continue to learn and grow over time, changing our patterns and habits as we do so. What your particular political or religious views are might color what things you're more likely to try on your homestead, or what you think is "enough" in any particular field. It's not for me to say you are right or wrong about your limits, space requirements, or where you should spend your energy. No one can live my life for me, nor truly understand my priorities, and I don;t expect to understand anyone else's so we can all do our thing on our own places. Homesteading or prepping according to "Msicellaneous ME" or instead from a 'Miscellaneous Me' crowd while allegedly always having a bone to pick?
