Howw I'm in ST program and we have to be at mayo complete by the 15m mark, I don't even make it to the mayo stand. I'm still organizing instruments on the back table or just putting the Balfour together 😢
Im also a student in second sem in another country.. and was so lucky to have come across your channel!!! I would love to see how you do the counting of diff instruments! And you did the set up soo fast! Any advice on how to keep your table so organized? So amazed!!! Thank you!!
Over the years I try not to touch or move thing more than twice. That comes with years of experience cause this could be overwhelming first hand and i will definitely try my best to help you guys! No one was there to guide me through school so I'm grateful you guys like my videos. The support is amazing!
Yes! I just wanted to say, I am on week 7 Lab Comp. I start clinical in April, and for our lab comp we have to do a Lap step-up. It really helps watching your videos and the different types of set-ups you do! 😊
@@orchidbrown7787 my set ups came from other people's set ups and made it to my own. That's how I learned to operate my own thing. I will try to get more techs to participate in sharing their set ups to give variations.
Hey girly, just found your page and omgggg all i can say is that its very motivational to see you in action!!! Im a Surgical technologist student! I’m in my second semester of this 2 year program and ughhhh im so overwhelmed with the material that we need to know ( srg procedures I, Pharm, Techniques I ) any advice you can give me that will help me get through this program??
Hey girl! Im excited for you! Don't go in to deep with Pharm. We don't really deal with drugs that much. The other classes are important! I will go in depth with another video coming soon to get students get through the program! It's worth it!
In the military CST program you're thought to scrub then dry then put on our gown. Did you skip the scrub or was that done outside the video? You also opened you're packages over your sterile field, what are your thoughts on that versus popping your packages 12inches from your sterile field? We were told it was common but that we should avoid doing it.
Actually yes we do really toss supplies in the real world you should always be 12 inches away or do not open stuff on your back table. @@SURGICALTECHGEEK
It's a good video. However, a couple of minimal movements that you could have done to minimize your steps. If I was setting the table, I would have opened my gloves and gowns at the corner of the table (not on mayo stand. Does 2 things: no transferring movement and mayo is rsady to be draped. Also, I would have arranged my small items at the table first before grabbing the instrument set. By the way, your nurse did a half ass closing the velcro of your gown but not tying your insides.
No. Whats missing in the video is that there is usually someone tie and secure the back of the CST's gown. The tech would then complete the gowning process by "spinning" which requires someone to help you. There are many instances where if you are in an emergent case and the OR staff is busy with a stat patient, the last thing they are worried about it "tying" you in. So the techs keep going with setup and getting the stat surgery ready because that is what matters in the end. Those instruments and supplies need to be ready to go to save that person. The "tying" can wait. Once there a free person to tie up the tech, they will.
You do realize that you contaminated multiple times. Please stop posting videos that show terrible sterile technique. It will cause patients to get a SSI
Your videos have been super helpful. I start the cst program in a week and I’m nervous as heck but thank you so much for these videos
How did it go
I’m honestly more impressed you kept the gown on that long with no one to tie you up. Haha. This video was awesome tho.
Not best practice but I didn't have anyone to tie me even anesthesia won't tie me lol... so just go with the flow. You'll learn it.
@@SURGICALTECHGEEKwhy won’t anesthesia tie you ?
I set up for C/S stats in 4 minutes with a complete count. It was nice to come across you channel.
Stat is a different story! Lol that's like 5 mins!

Thank you for this. In my school we need to do under 20 for an ex lap for clinical clearance and I’m freaking out.
You got this! When you open stuff, make sure you open where you're going to put it anyway. Try to move things less than twice.

It was t filmed. Yes 12 inches in school but it's not the same in real life. No one really toss supplies in real world experience.

@SURGICALTECHGEEK I agree with you more then 101%
Don't you need to check the filters in your instrument case?
Yes, I already checked it when I opened my tray.
Just wanted to ask which city or country do u work at btw
Great video,thank you 💕

Just want to shout out the sterile tech who made it possible 🙂
You contaminated the white part of the cuff while gloving.
May I ask how tall you are
Is the RN coat suited to be open like that
