I'm so excited because I'm going into nursing school very soon to become an OR nurse, but I already know things like this tray like the back of my hand because I've been working as a sterile processing tech. for a year already! :)
Very interesting as always, I'm glad there are people who share the passion for their work; you remind me of that "bakery work" guy, another man passionate about his trade. Medicine is not my field and I know very little about it, but thanks to you I have a window on the inner workings of something I completely ignored the existence of before, thanks again for posting videos and keep it up!
Hey, I'm the UK equivalent of a Surgical Tech - ODP (Operating Department Practitioner) - and I've found your videos super useful; you have definitely explained things better than a lot of my lecturers could! :)
Hello Shane Friedman, I am addicted to your videos. I’m not involved in the medical field. I will be having Aortobifemoral Bypass Surgery and was looking for videos about that surgery and also came across your videos. If I was not 61 years old, I would find a school to become a Surgical Technologist. You have taught me so much. You have encouraged me to watch videos of Aortobifemoral Bypass Surgery. It was a bit strange at first, but I did get used to it. I have also watched other operations and a few autopsies videos too. Which were also strange at first, but I was able to watch them and not be bothered. Your videos have caused me to search for other medical information to know. I believe everyone should keep learning new things and to not ever stop learning. I have watched numerous videos you have made and watched some over and over. To me you’re not just helping surgical techs and students, but anyone interested in understanding what goes on in the Operating room. Respectfully I thank you Shane for sharing your knowledge and experiences. GOD be with you always.
Revisiting these videos has been really helpful! I interviewed for an OR nurse position Monday and I want to go in knowing as much as possible if I get the position.
Please be kind to the Sterile Processing Staff. We work hard to ensure the instruments used in surgery are clean and Sterile. It's not a process that should be rushed
I just found your channel and i've been binge watching all your videos!! Great information. Im about to start school at a local technical college to become a surgical tech.
I am a new OR circulator. I watched pretty much every single video. They are so helpful to me. Thank you very much! i am looking forward more videoes come out.
Hey chief always been a pleasure watching your videos , so much that they even got introduced into our surgery tech class. I'm nearing my last term in the program, and your videos have definitely helped my rotation. A great video would be to show your setup, and show it as universal as you possibly can so people that give you a break can utilize your setup, and how to touch things only once, some days I have issues with doing that
Um so yea....I'm going to confess.....I am not nor have I ever been a surgical tech....but I binge watch every video this guy has. I absolutely love it, I don't know why I find it so interesting but I can't get enough. I'm weird
That’s a lot of instruments! I’ve recently reduced all our trays down to the bare minimum to try and reduce the amount of work for the staff in sterile services as new guidelines state every instrument must be hand washed before going in the washer / autoclave... we’ve now got a basic set and lots of stuff in supplementary - double wrapped.
Marisol Figueroa you make sure everything you’re likely to need is available before you start the case... the WHO team brief is a good chance to discuss special requirements with the surgical tram before the patient is anaesthetised
I know most all of the surgical instruments since I'm coming to the end of my CRCST program, six more weeks to complete my clinical can't wait to finish.
Thanks for the videos. You should make a playlist of the videos with instrument descriptions. Sterile Processors studying for "CIS" (Certified Instrument Specialist) will watch them. 👋
Thanks for your videos, they are very informative! Could you please do more instrument trays? Like a laminectomy or CV tray? I use your videos in y SPD class. They are very helpful!
Hey sorry I've been MIA started my second semester in surgical tech school excited and nervous at the same time 😂 ...I was wondering if you could do a video with instrumentation with a close up of the tips and serrations of the basic instruments used in the OR
I have an exam next week for Major set and I was really nerves because I have no idea what im going into, but this video helped me a lot. One thing you did not show at the first part and you did not count babcock, tinsel clamp, forester sponge, long right angle, and kocher. one more thing I would like to see in your videos the spelling because its really important too. thank you
The fact that a bladder retractor is a specific surgical device that exists just to hold the human bladder out of the way, and is mass produced for medical purpose; saving lives, etc. makes me *so* proud to be human 🤣
Do you think you could do a video on FAs and what states they are and aren’t recognized in? And maybe go into the billing/insurance aspect of it? I could use some clarification! Thank you!
Hey Shane, can you do a video on intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring or bring on those who do the career? I've just heard of it and there isn't a wealth of information on it. Please and thank you!
I study at MedCert surgical technologist program online. I miss someone teach me in person. I work at Mercy Hospital. What should I do to have clinical experience?
If you don’t have a video already, how is vacation per year for you and requesting time/ days off ? How many days are u allowed to request off per month or however it works and could u ever call out ?
! I am a nurse in a surgical center here in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro). I really want to know a surgical center there in the USA. How can I do it? Thank you!
You should add how you set up your back table and mayo when doing a large case w/multiple trays(w/a big sorry to sterile processing😂) to your list! Im a student and Ive been stacking them, but Im not too comfortable with how packed my back table gets. Have you come across situations like this on large cases?
I'm so excited because I'm going into nursing school very soon to become an OR nurse, but I already know things like this tray like the back of my hand because I've been working as a sterile processing tech. for a year already! :)
yay!!! good for you!!! (sterile processing tech here too!)
Thank you for clarifying the assembly of the Balfour retractor! Extremely helpful.
I’d love to see you do a vid on Craniotomy and Neuro spine instruments .
i am taking a gap year before i go to surgical tech school, been watching your videos for years to help prepare me

Currently start surgical technologist classes in January. Trying to get a head start on learning my instruments.

Btw, who's in charge of buying?

Chief, what brand is your watch?
I’d love to see your CABG set up if one ever cancels and you could film.
What is the difference between a kelly and a richardson for test purposes???
