Midtown, and most of Mobile, is horrible with upkeeping their sidewalks; Midtown especially is a clusterfuck, roads are too narrow, sidewalks nearly nonexistent. Also, this is where Mardi Gras started; New Orleans didn't start theirs until over 15 years after. I love the Gulf Coast; I am so close to beaches and the music scene is fantastic!

I once saw a man justify that it's fine for his cat to be let outside with no supervision and that it "toughens up" his cat when it comes home beat half to death by racoons and bleeding all over the place and that he feels proud. He was bragging about how cut up and bloody his cat was and that "it won the fight obviously because I raised a tough cat", it's so gross. His cat is just a trophy to pit against wild animals so he can show off that it can fight raccoons, that's the mentality of people, it's crazy :(

I did a project of the declining numbers of common birds species a couple of years ago and cats where a surprisingly big contender, it was like a couple billion in America I believe. Mainly feral cats of course but they are not natural predators of birds and people always think "it's just a couple of birds and small animals", and "cats love hunting, I cants deny them that". Either way, long ramble, I would recommend buying a bell on your cat at the very least if not just completely keeping them indoors.

My parents are rockhounds and my entire childhood was us out camping, hiking and collecting rocks as a family. Every single one of those rocks has memories. My dad can recount where he found every one, and our entire front yard is full of rocks, I'm talking tens of thousands. They're very special to him and mementos of his lifetime. BUT also, if anyone just walks up and asks him "hey can I have this cool rock in your yard" 99.9% of the time he'll say yes, he loves to give them away, there's no harm in asking but we all feel bad if someone takes something we liked, that they assumed we didn't care about or wouldn't notice. People have taken things from my yard because it looked like trash but I was actually using it for something imporant. About the knee thing, I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, I finally went to my doctor when walking up/downstairs hurt, turns out I basically had shattered the cartilages in my knees, and it took months of painkillers and a cream for it to get better. But to this day I can't do anything that's too hard on my knees or I'll get severe pain. So yeah if your knees start hurting like that when you jog, or exercise on a stair stepper, don't wait until it hurts to walk. Go see your doctor right away, avoid years of pain! It is not worth it to "power through it" because then you can't power through anything. This has been a friendly PSA about cartilages.

1:40 if it's just landscaping rock this is super petty, but if she collects rocks and that's her collection I can see how it would be upsetting. My parents are rockhounds and my entire childhood was us out camping, hiking and collecting rocks as a family. Every single one of those rocks has memories. My dad can recount where he found every one, and our entire front yard is full of rocks, I'm talking tens of thousands. They're very special to him and mementos of his lifetime. BUT also, if anyone just walks up and asks him "hey can I have this cool rock in your yard" 99.9% of the time he'll say yes, he loves to give them away, there's no harm in asking but we all feel bad if someone takes something we liked, that they assumed we didn't care about or wouldn't notice. People have taken things from my yard because it looked like trash but I was actually using it for something imporant. So if that was the case I could understand her disappointment. but gravel and landscaping rocks are so easy to replace, the rain takes more of that out into the streets than kids will take.

as someone who lives in close proximity to Mobile, I can assure you the people down here are just as absurd in person.
If you want to trawl around for some upsetting, racist posts, try spying on Sand Mountain, Georgia. Part of the plateau as a whole is in Alabama, as well. I've heard it's a straight-up sundown town, even talked to people who personally advised their black friends never to go there for their own safety.

I cannot handle him anymore. I would drop him at the shelter but I don't want him in my car" or something like that

About the knee thing, I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, I finally went to my doctor when walking up/downstairs hurt, turns out I basically had shattered the cartilages in my knees, and it took months of painkillers and a cream for it to get better. But to this day I can't do anything that's too hard on my knees or I'll get severe pain.
So yeah if your knees start hurting like that when you jog, or exercise on a stair stepper, don't wait until it hurts to walk. Go see your doctor right away, avoid years of pain! It is not worth it to "power through it" because then you can't power through anything.

I don’t think you know what the middle of nowhere is if you’re picking Mobile (pronounced Mo-beel). It’s one of the largest cities here. That place is straight up civil in comparison to where I grew up in the rural areas.
