Foreplay/Longtime - Lexington Lab Band
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2016
- The 21st Lexington Lab Band episode pays tribute to Boston, an American rock band that achieved their most notable successes during the 1970s and 1980s. Centered on guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter, and producer Tom Scholz, the band is a staple of classic rock radio playlists selling more than 75 million records worldwide. Their self titled album has sold over 17 million copies alone and resembles a greatest hits package with songs like "More Than A Feeling", "Rock and Roll Band", "Smokin" and "Foreplay/Long Time". For this session we bring back some old friends but also welcome 2 new guests to the Lab. Austin Vitucci lights up the iconic Hammond B3 and Tom Leszega brings that classic Rockman Amp Boston tone on the guitar. We are thrilled to have them and excited for you to experience 5 incredible tracks from Boston - LLB
As someone from Boston who grew up listening to Boston this has got to be the best cover I've ever heard
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Never mind "cover" ... it's the greatest performance of the song !
LLB is the best cover band on UA-cam. They did a great job on the Boston songs....check out Mike Masse and Jenny Baker's cover of More Than a Feeling (wait for the ending around 4:20 when Jenny starts playing Long Time) ua-cam.com/video/J0rQ_XSlc9g/v-deo.html
@@mstram Agreed 👍
@@mstram 100% agree.
This isn’t a cover, it’s tribute perfection!!
thanks for checking this out!
Absolutely!!! A tribute to perfection. RIP Brad Delp. He would be proud.
They make it look so easy.
Completely and utterly amazing.
100 % right
The best 8 minutes and 5 seconds of social distancing I've spent yet. That was fantastic ! Thank You !
Glad you enjoyed it!
My uncle Michael… Taught me to play guitar and although we don’t see him very often and he’s older now, and so am I the one song that he recommended to me I go listen to was this… Music may save all our souls… Lord willing
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
This is the greatest cover in the history of UA-cam.
haha...really appreciate you giving it a listen and we sure enjoy working it up! all the best, dale.
rcbeamer ....Still trying to decide ..”If it is real or Memorex”...
@@stephenfiore9960 Is it live or is it Memorex! Lol
Agree. Its such an extraordinary cover that make you feel that the music of Boston transcend time and ages
You sure? Have you seen “one man band’s” version by Jon Baglo and David Steele on vocals. Sounds just like Brad Derp. It’s on UA-cam, check the kid out
I'm Brazilian, 64 years old, and I love rock and roll music. Boston is one of the best bands for me! Lexinton Lab honors the guys playing the intro and music perfectly!!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
I'm brazilian too. I agree!😊
The back up singers are SO GOOD! What vocals by ALL. SUPER talented musicians 👏👏👏
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!

Great cover of a great song. The crazy part is that Tom Scholz played almost every part when recording the song plus wrote everything. He is a beast.
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Oh, and was also literally a genius, who invented/designed/built his own electronics/effects for the "Boston" sound. Mass-marketed it as the "Rockman". Made him millions. On top of all that... dude seems humble. ua-cam.com/video/R1c0Bx_StvE/v-deo.html
@@ckmoore101 SRD products are great - if you're looking to replicate Tom Scholz's tone. I like the fact that he got those sounds into such a compact package, but his is not the only sound - or even the primary sound - I'm looking to emulate.
All three guitar solos were played by Barry Goudreau. He went on to create the band Orion the Hunter.
What about Brad’s soaring vocals??? “I may never find it!” in soprano falsetto!
Man! Watching that made me emotional. So much care and detail. That is a real tribute. This music means so much to many of us. Three guitars killing every note and to think Tom originally did this pretty much by himself and with Delp's vocals. The vocals are spot on, and the female voices may actually improve on the original. And that guy is an absolute beast on the B-3, I play the keys a bit, but this one is hard as h*ll!
The fact that Tom Scholz is not in the Rock Hall of Fame invalidates the entire meaning of that museum.
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
I agree on everything, especially the part about Tom!
Amen!
Myth. All props where due, but even TS is forced to admit, Barry wrote & brought the guitar parts, specifically LEAD, for Long Time.
I assumed Tom was in the Rock Hall of Fame but your right he's not, and if he's not than it's a complete sham, quite hard to imagine right now
Ok I'm back to listen to this again. Chills man just chills. Seriously awesome!!!
Thanks for sharing your time and love of music! your friend, dale
I just fell in love with this band! Their ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! Really love the feminine backup vocals also!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
All the the musicians looked very much at home playing this piece. Bravo skills and soulfulness.
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
What a talented group of musicians along with amazing back up vocals. I'm simply blown away at the quality of musicianship. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
thanks for sharing your time to give this one a listen - sincerely appreciated!
Dale . . . great lead intro to Longtime! Been listening to you guys for several years, and I impressed by the high level of consistency and "trueness" to the integrity of the songs you guys cover. I especially appreciate your instruction videos. Not only are you a fantastic guitarist, you are a top notch instructor as well. By the way, Constantine is fairly popular on UA-cam as a bass instructor.
QUALITY is right.
My wife says to me: "oh come on, we've watched this one gazillion times", I tell her "yup, and here's one more time"
thanks so much and please tell your wife thanks too! your KY friend, dale.
Amazing. One of the best covers I've ever heard.
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Perfect I'd say
Can’t wait to play this in the car. My wife thinks I’ll never grow, I ask her “what for” ?
This band is smokin awesome.
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Carl Schnier Bless her! She’s just affirming your love of and for her and great music. And your response of “what for” brings her the comfort she needs!
Damn.... One of the best covers I've heard in a "Longtime".
greatly appreciate the kind post and sincere thanks for checking this out!
Considering how the original was made (in pieces) this one shot version is magnificent. Played live like we thought it was done on the record but all at once. Everyone has done a great job. Love those girls too.
sincere thanks for checking this out...greatly appreciated!
Another superbly done rendition still got goose bumps 👏 👏
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Damn! A couple of times I had closed my eyed and almost forgot it wasn't Boston. I was fortunate enough (considering I'm only 50 years old) to see Boston back in the day with Brad Delp. It's hard for the most part(other than the background singers) to differentiate between this live production and the original studio version. Most excellent. Keep em coming!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Finally a real band!!! WOW!!!! I am 55 and I know every note to this song in reverse and you nailed it!! Bravo!
great thanks for sharing your time to give this a listen!
And must I add that female chorus put you on top.. Great Job ladies!!
i know they all appreciate the kind post!
Yeah I'm totally in love with all of them! 😘🥰🌹
Seriously though. Excellent. Just stunning work! Incredible tribute to an amazing song and group.
And to think Brad Delp sang all those parts!
@@ChrisDoyle2112 Brad Delp is definitely one of the greatest rock singers of all time!
This must be soooo satisfying to play👍😎🎸👹
You guys are absolutely amazing! If I closed my eyes during the intro, I would swear it was Boston.
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Right on the money , crazy good
The best I have heard after the original Boston cover!!!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Oh, shit! Literally just wiped a tear of joy or tear of sentimentality, whatever you want to call it. This was my first rock album. I got it from my uncle on my birthday in 78, and my Andy Gibb album never got played again. This album and "Don't Look Back" changed my life. So yeah, guys, that was a beautiful rendition. I always lose it on the third go around when the electric guitar comes in! Thanks for the rock and roll and memories
great memories and i can relate - what an amazing record and i'm with you can still remember when i got it and was just blown away by what i heard. Still great...timeless. Hope all is good my friend and thanks for sharing your time and connection with this great band.
I had it on 8 track. The album actually made me want to play guitar. Good memories.
I remember when I got the tape I bought 8 d batteries and walked around the neighborhood jamming my portable 8 track player on my shoulder lol.
Oh man! You've done it! All of it! Drums, organ, guitars, base, vocals, the claps, all of the little details. Foreplay and Longtime. Well done... I'm just pissed this has been on here for 2 years and I just found it. Thank you!
hello Scott...we are very glad you found us and a sincere thanks for the kind post - hope all is good your way, your friend, dale.
Very nice mix! the drum parts come in loud and clear.
The drummer was really solid and made it look easy!
Me too!!!!!
Easily the GREATEST song ever!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
This kicks ass, you knocked it out of the park. I am hard to impress and you floored me.

Best Long Time Cover of Boston ever, loved the lead vocals and amazing guitar. Guitars were perfect on ever note, organ intro was insanely good and drummer kept it all tight
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
I've wasted an entire evening watching this goodness. Time well wasted. Thank you.

I wouldn't call it wasting time lol.

Not wasted at all... this is as good as

Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
It´s just perfect! Congratulations, guys.
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Boston had such a unique and immediately recognizable sound-they along with Journey, and 38 Special were my favorite bands from my youth. I only wish Boston had done more albums in their prime. Cannot forget driving home from medical school classes one afternoon and turning my radio on and hearing song Amanda-instantly recognized it as a new song by Boston-before the DJ came on at end of song and confirmed what I heard with my ears. This is the most amazing reproduction of that unique Boston sound-well done-you have come as close to perfection in a tribute/cover song as is humanly possible!!!!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
@Gregory Hall, the reason that Boston did not make more albums was because one of its members is an OCD perfectionist and he liked to get things just so, namely to the point that it kind of made members of Boston mad at him, most notably, Brad Delp himself, as well as the executives at the record company that they worked for at the time.
I’ve dated two Amandas. Neither one ended well lol.
I too heard Amanda on the radio with no pre-introduction. I too instantly knew that it was finally a new song from Boston. However, I don't know if what I heard was a special DJ Promo or maybe a DJ edit or what? But that first listen of Amanda ended & instantly went into My Destination. Basically being a Reprise of Amanda. Both together sounded Amazing! I never heard it on the radio like that again. But as soon as I bought the LP, I made a mix tape with them together. Along with the other Boston, Barry Goudreau & Orion The Hunter LP's I had.
Who the hell are these guys? Their frickin incredible!
great thanks for giving this a listen!
Ladies and gentlemen, The Lexington Lab band.
A 72-year-old great grandad here and Boston is my favorite band of all time and LLB is now an extremely close second! Outstanding!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Just an incredible rendition! Thank you so very much!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
I'm SO DAMN PLEASED that there are GREAT F'in bands that will make sure this music CONTINUES ON in the earth... THIS IS SOUL FOOD!!! MY GOD I LOVE BEING ALIVE!!! THANKQ!
I LOVE how damn CLEAN this is!! - And your backup vocalists are MINDBLOWINGLY GOOD (and GORGEOUS BTW!!!)
sincere thanks for checking this out!
thanks!
There just aren't enough adjectives to describe how flippin' good this is ... well done , everyone.
thanks so much for sharing your time to listen...this is a long one! What a great band that has given us so many classics - your friend, dale.
Clearly this is perfection as a cover! Is it weird though that my favorite part is the clapping and how everyone gets involved in it? It's the little things... jussayn
i enjoyed that too - we sincerely appreciate you giving this one a listen!
Agree
i wondering if it was live or Memorex? And that's not meant to be a put down. With these guys they probably had the mics for it. I love this group.
That cutie in the middle doesn't do any harm either.
@@stefeniedavidmusic My gosh she is gorgeous.
I could listen to this all day and night. AWESOME 🤩 MUSIC!!!!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Great Tribute to this iconic song. The Rockman Amp is a must-have to pull this off and the lead and background singers did an amazing job. RIP Brad Delp who's voice is nearly impossible to replicate because of his crazy upper register range. He would be honored with this performance.
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
I'm endlessly amazed at this every time I watch/listen to it. The musicianship/sound quality/and executing the Boston sound like no other. Amazing tribute.
hello Sam..really appreciate you sharing your time and love of classic tunes with us and your kind post is very appreciated too! your friend, dale.

Tom Scholz (a local Toledo OH native!) would be SO proud! Thank you Dale & Company! So accurate, passionate, and fun cover!
he is simply one of kind and fully deserving of the maybe over used term, musical genius, timeless tune from Ohio..I didn't know!
MY LORD!!! what an amazing rendition of this song!!!! I bet I've sent it to 20 of my friends!

The intro of this song is simply fantastic: guitars, drums, keyboard...love this one

You cats swing for the FENCE!
The way you take on the heavy hitters with such poise & precision is nothing short of remarkable! The vocals of the late Bradley Delp are virtually impossible to match but you're man is right up there with Fran Cosmo. Even more astounding is how the ladies blend together to tie this masterpiece together. Those girls almost sound more like Delp than Delp did!
Magnificent production!

how about that mixdown? ready for the BIG TIME for shure!
I think I broke my face from smiling non stop for 8 straight minutes! I saw Boston live on their Don't Look Back tour and had some pretty decent seats. This bring back memories of that tour...It's impossible for anyone playing/singing this song to not smile throughout the entire thing and you guys put the definition in "tribute" by the way you played this. Amazing.

I got to meet Austin Sunday night at the concert and tell him personally how much I enjoyed his keyboard work. I played a B-3 with a Beach Music band in NC as a teenager and never imagined being able to play like he does. He is a few years older but a really nice and talented young man to speak to. Well done Vandee and all the group and a special to God bless to Austin. Keep on using those talents the Lord gave you my young friend.

Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
even Boston can no longer replicate their original sound live. Best tribute band to play boston.
thanks so much for checking this out...sure appreciate the kind post!
We need to tell Tom!
Ive seen Boston in the last 2 years. Yes, they certainly can, and they are better than this. All female backing vox sounds weak compared to having all males and 1 female Boston currently utilizes. And while good, this guy does not have the power Bostons singer has onstage.
Actually, live Boston over the last 10 years blows away anything they did in the 70's and 80's. In particular, everybody on stage these days can sing, and their harmonies are amazing.
David Gates agreed--id even say the last Boston show I saw two years ago was the best I’ve heard them and I’ve seen them ALOT!!
You guys are freaking incredible! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
I've listened to this song a zillion times in the last 45 years and its NEVER sounded better. LLB is tops thanks a bunch. Dan

this group is amazing.. the vocals spot on. The drummer never missed a beat you can just feel the raw talent they covered some Def Leppard songs.. OMG!!!!!!! love it!!!!
thank you!
Best band, best song, this is what made me want to play guitar. You guys are unbelievably great as always
what a great post...that opening solo just got us didn't it and all the rest as well. I'm glad you decided to play guitar and i have a feeling you've never regretted it - maybe one day we'll play em together. Your friend, dale.
Yes the opening solo and you nailed it. Playing together would be great and you're tight I've never regretted it. Others have but not I. Two other great instrumentals to great guitar riff songs come to mind, Funeral for a friend/Love lies bleeding, by Elton, and the bit before Tuesday Afternoon by Moody Blues. I have to look that up I'm not sure Tuesday is the correct song. I'm mistaken the song I was thinking of was the Story in your eyes. On the album there's some preamble before the guitar lick.
great post i enjoyed what you shared - i think you and i are tuned into the same channel! your friend, dale.
I just barely discovered you guys and you left me speechless simply the best boston cover I have ever heard, my god you guys rock!

thanks for your very kind words and being willing to give this a listen!
wow, they play it extremely good
thanks so much for taking your time to give this a listen!
This is so true2 the original, it's ridiculous! When the 'late' Boston recreates these classics, the stage acoustics are bad. The sound isn't clean & syncopated. It also seems Tom is trying too hard too show off his special effects. The end result is they're killing it, NOT in the good way.
Back for the "umpteenth" listen... Just awesome LLB!!
Also the Video production is Top Notch!!
we greatly appreciate it too!
thanks..i know the video team appreciates the kind post!
Outstanding cover, Boston can be proud! Keep jamming!
