Something along the lines of "I wish you the best and hope things work out even though I think its a bit risky to drop out of school for youtube". And I shit you not the next day, in my subscription feed I see a video that he dropped directed strictly towards me calling me out, saying i dont know anything and whatever. Ironic cause a few years later I was right. That or maybe the fact it was a very bad look he deleted the video.

My theory is: Geoff wanted Kingdom Hearts to be at Summer Games Fest, but either Square Enix or Disney (or both) said no-they want to show the game on their terms, not his.
My headcannon is that Geoff, after putting up with all the fans' bs, is twisting our balls with these twitter replies as potential teasing to ultimately disappoint us way more than we would when it doesnt show up at SGF

I accepted by the time I graduated college is when Kh4 comes out just like kh3 came out the end of my freshman year.

Honestly I am still for letting square cook in peace. So far it feels like they learned their lesson of showing too much with KH3 and that has me excited. The less I know the better.

Tbh if we don't get a trailer or whatever, I just want the KH PC ports to be the best they can be. Not sure if you heard Jared, but apparently you can switch the language in the properties on steam which is massive news for people who want to play the JP version. The PC ports also have bugs that have been around since literally PS2 or PS3 and never have been patched. I don't get how Square can go so long without addressing it, it's kind of a shame really.
Because those bugs and glitches gave us the games we love it's part of their identity for wacky shit to happen ITS KINGDOM HEARTS😂😂😂😂😂

This time, they did it to avoid leaks.
The Nvidia leak is definitely a part of the reason, maybe most of it or even all. But SE does have a history of announcing games too early: FFXIII Versus/FF15, KH3, DQ12, FF7 Remake, etc... Nomura himself did state he did not like KH3 being shown so early. I assume the early reveal trailers are to hook in investors/please shareholders.
If KH4 is the exception, exception proves the rule.
I’m kinda concerned because if you think about the recent FF games on this console generation have mostly avoid the long development issues we got use to previously but who knows if KH4 is having those same issues again or a case of them waiting for the right time to show more footage to avoid competing with their other games

It is baffling that KH or other games can't get the same level of a process when it comes to going from game to game, the rebirth devs said the reason they were able to make such a big game so quick was because they kept like 90% of the team on board and so THAT many people knew what the vision was, they knew what they were working with, they knew each other, that probably was the case with KH back in the day but anymore idk, people are acting like its insane to expect it next year or something when it's obvious they started doing SOMETHING in 2021 at least, just doesn't feel like it should take more than 4 years honestly
@@SSlash this game had to have been in development as soon as KH3 was out even if just preproduction. I highly doubt Remind would have stopped things or required a big team. I have no doubt development started in 2019. It should be freaking out this year
Rebirth started development in late 2019 before even Remake came out, so it was roughly 4 years and change. It also stayed completely on UE4 and is essentially adapting an already established story and world from decades of material. KH4 has the marginal difference of going to UE5, but the major difference of conceptualizing and realizing a whole new original story, setting, artstyle(s), worlds, vibe, characters, mechanics, etc. that are different from what the rest of the series has been, even its direct predecessor, KH3. That alone will take longer than Rebirth, but add on top the slow back and forth grind of Disney meetings for approvals on IP usage, world designs, character representations, etc., the early part of development happening during covid, as well as modern game development just ballooning to extreme lengths across the board even for wholly original AAA sequels, and roughly 5 - 6 years is about the norm for this particular situation.

I saw a billboard when I was visiting near memorial day weekend. The billboard had sora and screenshots from previous kingdom hearts games. The title said "Kindness is key" Im curious if this has to do with the new game. And considering its very soon It would make sense to advertise it.

I don't think the investors are saying this because its not coming out in 2 years. Its because of the cost of games like FFVIIR and FF16 not giving their money back up to their expectations so they aren't relying on Kingdom Hearts succeeding where those two "underperformed".

From what I heard, CBU3 is rumored to be doing FF9 Remake (which makes sense, Yoshi-P had a bunch of FF9 hints within his games lately). The Xbox rumours sounds kinda like DQ12 (since they've been even more starved then us). But in terms of SGF, I do get a weird feeling there's something 'KH-related' (like a collab or heck I wouldn't be surprised if those movie/show rumors have something to do with it). Obviously not holding my breath, but from what I've gathered from the leakers and everything that's going on, it kinda feels like that. D23 does look promising for KH4 specifically, but I think perhaps Disney/Square "might" attempt to market the franchise in other ways for the time being to make the wait of KH4 more bearable.

It would make sense from the supplemental lore perspective that KH4 wouldn't be coming out in the next couple of years due to Missing Link not being out..... Unless ML has a super short story section with little of the plot effecting the next saga, I would think we're going to see something along the lines of X/Union/Unchained-X where the story trickles and at the end of the update period, get KH4......
Of course speaking as a rabid fan, I'd prefer to see simulcast releases with part 1 of ML story tieing into KH4, part 2 with KH5/Verum Rex and so on.....
I think there's too much things around Kingdom Hearts right now to not have some informations on KH IV, like we have the Steam portage, the promotions on the PSN, all the stuff around ML and the stationery, and I just saw that at the IGN there is KH 1.5+2.5 ReMIX on the Steam Decks, so why not right now ?

We can all admit a few things here. One Square Enix is having my internal issues right now, several of my internal mutuals and colleagues just got laid off, from numerous departments including development teams for KH4 and other titles. Two, this has happened before where something was announced to early. And three, fans are entitled to feel the way they feel about a specific game base, there is so much that could be done better, especially from a marketing standpoint.
No news is not good news.
The least marketing teams need to do is release some articles and interviews to keep fans engaged. I hope we don't get another long awaited saga, close up the stories from previous games and call it a wrap at this point.

I think you have to keep in mind that KHIV is not a game that is only published by SE, disney is also listed as a publisher of the game. So maybe...it's not a big title for SE in the sense that it is not a 100% their product and not their IP either. So maybe there is a glimmer of hope for it still releasing relatively soon. KH4 should not, in a reasonable world, show up anywhere this year and possibly even next year. If we see anything this year it will not be able to represent the actual game being so far out. SE cancelled a lot of projects yes, but I don't think Kingdom Hearts is on the chopping block. In fact I believe the other projects were cancelled in order to allocate more resources to the major games like Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy. Unfortunately my own career might be impacted by some of these cancellations in the process but I'd rather get the opportunity to work on something later that makes sense and is awesome than something doomed for failure today. My personal opinion is that FF16 and Rebirth need to be doing huge multi-platform relaunch events with a bunch of new content and updates. Not spending big marketing money on social media, but using their games organic reach to get word out to all the fans such as in the Steam What's New bar, a big sale, Xbox hamepage, Square Enix mailing lists, FFXIV launcher, their website, etc... Look at how successful Kingdom Hearts Steam news was. They count the revenue from these games as "lost" but people just largely don't have the platform it was launched on and that revenue can still be made.
It won't be that far out if another trailer comes out this year.
Mind u that the 1st trailer is more of a mock up in Unreal Engine 4.
So if and when another trailer is released, it will be in Unreal Engine 5 and a better representation of what the game could look like upon the final build when each trailer gets better of the visuals

She’s been doing tons of re-recordings and remixes of her popular songs recently. Chances are Hikari/Simple and Clean were just another project in the stack and SE asked to be able to use it.

My guess is it will show next year for a release in 2026 because of merchandising that released on concert with the release of some of the games, and because Nomura is on that good stuff and seven is the number of new Darknesses.
ive honestly lost all hope of seeing kh4 this year. the fact we havent heard anything about missing link since the end of the beta (even though the websites now say "pre registeration soon!") is concerning. we've only had 2 trailers and theres still the whole thing where nomura made an art piece for the game that he stopped himself from finishing or sharing for some reason.
idk maybe its my clinical depression fueled pessimism but things are not looking good, especially with the current situation of square as a company

Look, I am letting Nomura-San decide for himself to reveal which worlds (a.k.a. Realms) will be official for the fourth entry, I am just being patient as hard as I can. Lucasfilm’s Star Wars and Marvel’s Gaurdians of the Galaxy and Disney’s Lilo & Stitch along with Pixar’s Wall-E could make really good cameo appearances to serve in the main story along with the entries of Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X, XIII, XV and Type-0, which could make a really good fit in the multiverse of Quadratum.
I wouldn't worry. Game these days/a few years ago take around at least 5 years to develop, probably more for something like KH.

While I think D23 is fairly likely, Disney does have stuff cooking with Xbox. Indiana Jones is a franchise that could show up in KH4 just as much as Star Wars. Lastly, while Square Enix showing up with some late ports will make me happy, to really show their multiplat initiative, it'd be better for them to do a trailer at Xbox's show of KH4, then a world reveal at D23, TGS, etc to head into 2025. Oh right and Visions of Mana is releasing soon so maybe not that as that good faith showing.

If games that are 2026 releases and beyond aren’t being shown, then it makes sense that Geoff would shoot down kingdom hearts fans because that game at best will be a 2028 game given the well of updates has been dry for a while now.

I feel like people are assuming KH4 would only appear at the SGF Showcase when the Xbox Showcase exists the following Sunday. And if they really want to make their multiplatform commitment clear(KH3 also released on Xbox), then showing a trailer at the Xbox Showcase makes sense.

I feel we're safe for a release in first half 2026 at the latest. The investors just wouldn't have any context to that without official announcements yet. If FFIX Remake is also hefty enough to be SE's main game for the 2025 calendar year, KH4 in 2026 (followed by FF7 R Part 3 most likely in 2027) would be a good span to cover a consistent relevant release schedule for SE in the near future. A 2026 release would also be a good explanation to why they would want to wait for as long as possible (i.e. as close to latter portion of 2024 as reasonable) before talking about KH4, since a caveat of not coming within 2025 could rile some impatient people up 😓.
But personally, with the general consensus that Fall 2025 would be its only realistic potential release window next year, I'd be perfectly fine with them internally settling on a few months after that into 2026, since juggernaut games like GTA 6 and Monster Hunter Wilds are most likely coming in the Fall 2025 window. KH is getting bigger, but it just doesn't have the chops to fight for attention with BOTH those two. If SE is disappointed in FF sales over the past couple years, putting KH4 in that position would be self-sabotage at that point 😬.
Just a side note, I didn't even know that rebirth was released until way after the fact, whereas when the original remake came out I was watching trailer after trailer until release and then multiple videos after. I feel the advertising and hype is somehow falling short with these square enix games and I would be more invested in them if I had the build up like with KH3 and FF7 remake. Then I felt I was more invested in finishing the games (KH3 and remake) because I was invested, and yet I still haven't finished rebirth because I lost some interest and had no one to bond with over it. Maybe it's just me though idk. I hope the hype they do hopefully end up putting around KH4 is massive.

I believe KHIV will be announced at D23 and Mostly likely to be out between mid summer to Fall of 2025. Although I could be wrong.
Square Enix is going through a lot of restructuring with it's Business Divisions. I wouldn't be surprised if they are holding off their most profitable titles until they sort out some internal issues as well as waiting for the Switch's successor since they want to target a wider player base.
Ok so I think that the game that will be shown at the Xbox showcase will probably be Visions of Mana as it got shown their once before. We really need to stop assuming that any news about a SE game is news about KH given that Visions might come out soon
Hope KH4 comes out at the latest December 2025. Really hope we don't have to wait till 2026 or beyond.
