  • As we move up the Chakras from our root, we meet our second Chakra point being that of our Sacral Chakra.
The video will go into more details, but the basics are outlined for you below
Sanskrit Name: Svadhisthana meaning "the dwelling place of self' / also sometimes referred to as "the seat of emotions"
Symbol: Lotus Flower with 16 Petals
    Colour: Orange
    Element: Water
    Mantra Sound: VAM
Location: Hips & hip flexors, space above pubic bone and below navel, reproductive organs
Responsible For: Emotional regulation, creativity, reproduction in all senses of the word, abundance, pleasure, and joy for life
When this chakra is overactive you may feel:
    Overwhelmed
    Reactive
    Intense mood swings
    Dependency on others
    Dramatic
    Addictive habits or tendencies
    Overtly promiscuous
    Eating disorders
When this chakra is under-active you may feel:
    Lack of understanding of self
Detachment from self and world around them
    Disconnected from pleasures of life
    Fatigue and extreme lethargy
    Insecurity
Lack of desire, intimacy or sexual pleasure
    Lack of creativity
When this chakra is balanced you may be:
More able to understand and regulate ones own emotions
    Creative in work and pleasure
Connected to your 'feminine' - this is a very "female energy" dominated Chakra closely attuned to the lunar cycles
Healthy menstrual cycle with no pain or issues
    Joy & playfulness for life
    Able to balance work/play
Feels flexible, fluid, and adaptable to life
Physical Symptoms for an imbalanced Sacral Chakra:
    Tight, closed hips
    Kidney issues & reoccurring UTI's
    Sexual health issues
    Issues with menstrual cycle
    Reproductive issues
    Ways to rebalance this Chakra:
Trauma work (over active) - a lot of the issues which result from an overactive sacral Chakra can trace back to childhood trauma, neglect, or abuse - working with a therapist can help to re-balance and over active Sacral space.
Engage in something creative (under active) - draw, paint, sing, dance, wear brighter clothing, book into an art class, cook, play with children - all of these things can help an under active Sacral Chakra.
Connect with water - being in or around bodies of water can help to balance this energy centre - it can be a pool, a lake, the ocean, a bath, or even the shower. Listening to water sounds as 'white noise' can also help.
Yoga poses - poses which open the hips such as butterfly pose, happy baby, wide leg forward fold, scorpion pose
