Excellent video. B&M is known as a common fail in the US as well. Here the 500 has it tucked behind the glove box. A different fail is they won't shut down, causing a parasitic drain on your battery. This can be a pain if you don't drive every day. Personally, my first step would be to do a load test on the battery. A weak battery can crank the car but toss multiple errors due to low voltage or dirty/misfitting cables. Flashing ODO can be for many reasons; simply means some module isn't timely in reporting in. In the US I had it flashed and the dealer replace the "brick" at 5,000 miles. It's a good idea to use your software to scan before replacing a module, though B&M not working was a major clue. Your software or AlphaOBD can do the Proxi align and, with cables, costs about what a dealer will charge and sometimes that's all you need. I mention doing a scan first because my car has an intermittent flashing ODO since the day it was new (Dec 2018). 4 Proxi's and a software update later, it still pops on every 6 months, then goes away at the next start so a scan reveals no failed components.
What do you mean it won’t shut down? I have a 2012 that I have removed blue and me module, drove to work about 45 min. Sat for 10 hours and when I got off work battery dead again. Any other suggestions?
@@kassiemiller9075 B&M is a timed unit. After the ignition shuts off it remains operating for a few minutes. If it doesn't shut off, it continues to draw 1/2 to 3/4 A, in addition to the normal computer's draw. For the battery, I'd start by testing for a parasitic drain and do a load test of the battery.
I have the exact same problem with Bluetooth/usb and battery drainage, do you know if it’s possible to do it yourself without paying hundreds in a fiat vendor? :/
You can never have too many videos on blue and me
There are some that are better though...see link in the description!
Just had a brand new battery fitted yesterday as I thought this was the issue. Had it all re-calibrated with the new battery but I still have flashing mileage, not able to use the USB slot and phone won’t connect to blue&me. I think I’m going to have to take it to a garage and get them to take off the rear panel to get the module out, looks to complicated for me!
Your Bluetooth module is broken I'm afraid. It needs repairing.
@@carsalvage101 just hoping I can find a garage that is willing to do it for me. I imagine the labour costs won’t be cheap! Does it have to be sent off for repair? Or would it be cheaper/easier to just buy a new one?
You can go on eBay and buy a second hand one tbh. Where do you live?

Can the Bluetooth issue be resolved by getting a new retrofitted radio head unit. One with a touch screen
No, I don't think so. I think the module will drain your battery unless it's sorted I'm afraid.
Why is my negative terminal on the battery screwed in with five different screws? Your just like pops off and mine looks like a minefield of screws and wires
What year is your 500?
Hi I seem to have the same problem and it may be the reason why my battery drains itself if I don’t use it for 1 day. Do you know if disconnecting the Bluetooth module/ circuit breaker might help with that?
Discount the module will sort the battery drain, but you will still get thr flashing mileage.
@@carsalvage101can u remove the module completely without reinstalling it ,my radio quit working a week ago so I'm thinking this is the issue with my battery drain
@@carsalvage101I'm in Canada ,where would the module be located ? I'm seeing posts that it's not in the rear ,some are saying it's behind glove box ..
I believe it should sort it out, however, for £60 + p&p you can send it off and have it repaired.
The flashing mileage hsppened to my 2010 500 after a completely dead battery. I also have an airbag warning light on that wasnt there before the battery went flat. Could the flat battery have killed the B&M, or would it just be a reset?
I don't think anyone knows why the Bluetooth module fails. I assume that charging the battery and taking off the negative cable for 10mins hasn't fixed it?
The 10min battery disconnect worked - no more flashing mileage! The airbag light is still on,and that only appeared after I let the battery go dead too, so not sure how to reset it, but thank you so much for this tip!
No problem. Glad that resolved it. I'd go into the menu on the dash and turn off the passenger airbag. Then turn off ignition, and then turn it back on again, see if that solves it.
@@carsalvage101 that's awesome, it worked! You're an absolute diamond, thank you so much!
No problem at all. Glad I could help. Now my bank details are..... :)
I have what appears to be this issue however no buttons on the steering wheel seem to work, the volume one work every now and then. Are these linked or is that likely a separate issue?
Thanks
I would believe that it will all be the same to be honest.
Yes, it's all related. You have a faulty B&M module. Once it's replaced, everything should work fine again. Problem with this module is, no one knows exactly why or when it goes bad.
Should we take the key out before taking the negative out of the battery?
Don't think it makes a difference to be honest
@@carsalvage101 thanks! So just to turn the car off and thats it and then take out the negative from the battery.
Correct.
Can you drive the car without the model in?
Yes you can.
My flashing mileage went away now i have a flashing time 😅
Well....that's very easy to fix!
Im put some cola iside cable slot. Then this problem start. No charging no blutooth.
That cola shouldn't really cause the Bluetooth to fail.
@@carsalvage101 😳
if i take off battery i need to write an code after ?
