- 4 spooks connected together to create a fish catching machine. With all the snakes swimming around the river recently, I created this snake lure out of 4 spooks connected by split rings and 3 hooks. It is sure to catch a river beast that is hungry for a snake. Years ago I met an old timer that made a snake lure using a length of garden hose with some huge treble hooks connected to an inner chain. He had a cork stuffed in the front end to make the front float but the tail would sink when it stopped.
The chain was from an old bike lock.
I've used rubber tubing to mimic eels in the river here for striped bass too.
I've also had snakes bite lures, the brown water snakes in some areas here are super aggressive.

I agree about the pro q 90. Very few topwater lures have worked for me this well even for big fish in saltwater over 15lb

Also cotton mouths are also called water moccasins and they hang near the bank so hard to spot just be careful!
