Hi Boaz: You have such a nice way of connecting with your students. I LOVE it. :) I just might try my diatonics again while watching your videos. Right now I'm still playing my chromatics and I always play Amazing Grace both on a 16-C and a 12-A. Since I play by ear I just go for it - usually towards the lower end - and dig in by the 2nd and 3rd verses. Most people I play for absolutely love my version, so there's that. I think I'll try and see if mine matches up with yours. It's late tonight (haven't slept yet) but I specifically wanted to commiserate with you about your back injury. PLEASE take care of that. I've lived with mine for most of my life - and it stinks, having to suffer for so long. So please don't push through the pain, but do what your doctor recommends. {please feel better ...I so empathize with what you're going through).
Thank you so much for the feedback, Scotty! Yes, you can absolutely play along with your chromatics. I think next time I'll include at least extra tablature for chromatic players, too, if it applies. Yeah, I usually prefer playing in the lower octave, but sometimes that's a trouble for both chromatic and diatonic players. The middle and higher octave is usually more easily played by beginners. Thanks for your concern about the back injury. It's still there, and I haven't been doing too much because of it. It's getting better, but still limiting.
@@BoazKimMusic Others might need the tabs, Boaz - but you know I just play everything by ear - so no worries, for me anyway. :) I feel so sorry that you're experiencing such back pain--mine is flaring again right now as well, the colder weather tends to aggravate it. Heatwraps (we buy them for less at Costco) to use when I go out in the coldest weather really help - or I use a Battle Creek heating pad (best made) at home --they take moisture from the air so no need for wet pads, and that really, really helps alleviate the worst of the pain.
Thank you! Please subscribe for more. I plan on making some more play along/lesson videos, though I'm teaching private harmonica lessons throughout the weeks
Wow! This is the first time I've seen harmonica music written out. Thank goodness there's an indication of when to blow vs draw. Heck, I didn't even know it was called "draw"ing! (Then again, this is only the second harmonica video I've ever watched!) You have me considering whether or not I want to take up this instrument. I did my Bachelor of Music in classical sax performance.
That's awesome that you majored in Classical Saxophone Performance. Once of my friends also majored in that while we were in music school. I hope you're getting opportunities to play. If you try the harmonica you might not be able to put it down!
I hope you haven't put the harmonica away. There are some major hurdles in the beginning stages that can be super frustrating, but you'll get past it with persistence and also relaxing your body/breathing. It really depends on what kind of music you'd want to play. If you need help, sign up for a lesson with a local harmonica teacher or a teacher who does online lessons like me. There are several options. The harmonica is an instrument that is very easy to make a sound on but hard to "master" it.
Thanks for the video...the tab is excellent and so is the playalong section.
Always great to hear your harmonica music here, Boaz.👍
Thank you for the comment, Stephen!
Excellent work on amazing graze
Thank you! I hope you had fun playing along. Let me know if you'd like to see more videos like this.
