Our parallels are uncanny: Cannot leave well enough alone. Dusting off old bows - that shoot better than new bows. Transcribing Paige Pearce's excellent list of tuning procedures. Too, discovered that I really like higher holding weight. All in all, I may put away the new bow for a while - I'm burnt out on trying to tune it.
Atta boy. I do the same thing. I take whatever I can from the pros and dive in deep. Paige and many others. You have the passion and drive, which the average Joe that uses his bow once a year doesn't have... Thats the best part of archery. The PASSION. It takes tones of time to set-up a bow right and then go through all the little things to get it shooting tip-top. Most people just don't get it.. or dont care. Why? No passion. 300$ bow and wonder why they cant tune it. Aka- toy bow, I call them. Lol Like I've said for years. "There are bow owners and there are archers" Big difference! Great video 🏹
Your intro is spot on, I always learn something new watching you tinker. Coming from recurve to compound because I want to be as ethical of a hunter as possible and boy is there a lot to learn. Appreciate you!
As a side note: Elite and PSE are my favorites. I absolutely love PSE's lower stab mount. What a difference having the stab down low with an 8° qd. Love it.
Hey Mat great video. Quick note the second half of your video is not synced audio wise. I was surprised torque tuning wasn't on Paige's lost but maybe your saving that for when you "super tune" it. Given that you had to tiller tune it to get the BS level the next thing I would do would be to take it to a shop and get the timing checked. Keep posting your videos please! It's great to watch someone at the just general guy level have the confidence to work on their own stuff!!
Thanks for the encouragement. Ya, I know the audio is a little goofy. I uploaded it a couple different times trying to fix it, but it didn’t seem to work. So this video was just to get it to hold. She has a whole other video on tuning that I’ll probably end up going through too.

Mat, Do you flex test the entire shaft (?32"), the cut down shaft, or both? Thank you.
@@TYB439 Cut it to length first.
