    I wonder what is the lifetime and serviceability of these speciality can lights are. That seems like a little headache to repair a light that fails, especially if they no longer are in business and you are reliant on a specific diameter and voltage (which is to say the transformer might also be a problem in the future).
    Maybe we can have a single standard for residential lighting yet I doubt we are even close to this.

    • @DexBunny
      @DexBunny Рік тому +1

      A light switch on the inside of a bathroom needs to be water resistant and more secure, since it's always in a somewhat moist environment. It's also safer so if anything would go wrong with the switch, it won't shock you due to the moisture present since it's on the outside where it's dry. All the switches in my home are on the outside for bathrooms as well.

    • @alexandrhrouz666
      @alexandrhrouz666 Рік тому +1

      Switching off the lights when someone is inside is a classic European joke :D
      The switch used to be outside of the room because of safety regulations, to prevent water geting inside of them and possibly electocuting people.
      Now days the switches are more safe and water resistant so its alowed to instal them in the bathroom, but it mostly depends on your choice.

    • @DexBunny
      @DexBunny Рік тому +1

      In some countries it is code to put two alternating layers of plasterboard on the ceiling because that way if there is a fire it takes longer to get through to the wooden beams, because, well, plasterboard doesn't really burn cause it's gypsum.

    • @theablanca17
      @theablanca17 Рік тому +2

      It's to comply to fire code, at least it's here in Sweden. And it tends to be similar in Scandinavia. I'm guessing that's at least part of the reason.

    • @Helveteshit
      @Helveteshit Рік тому +3

      A single sheet of plasterboard is a minimum 30 minute fire resistance. In his case, it is both for sound insulation but it also fire protection. To prevent fire from spreading from one room to another within X minutes.

    As a Canadian we dont built waterproof bathrooms like this.
    I wonder why all the walls needs to be waterproof like a swimming pool. Is it because usually they are very tiny?
    The floor I can understand even more in a building, but we dont do this in houses except the shower of course and we use mold resistant drywall.
    So my question is, why the walls are waterproof? and also then why not the ceiling?
    Also the outside switchs arent up to code in Canada.
    In Canada in a bathroom all electrical plug/switch/lights are connected to a GFCI outlet inside the bathroom so no way to get electrocuted.
    Sorry if it is dumb questions for UK citizens.
